    Post your fishing stories when you made some mistakes for other fishers to read! (Just keep it Pg-13 or the comment filter will block it.) Cheers!

    Short story: Was out at a local reservoir in the Bay Area, CA and ran out of water. I was about 5-6 miles from my car so I decided that I would risk it and just drink the clear reservoir water. It was ultra-refreshing and tasted great but I felt the effects a few weeks later when the Giardia struck. I bought a lifestraw a couple days later, and I always have it in my car and bring it fishing wherever I go. The best part about it is that I don't even need to lug 2-3 water bottles around with me, I just bring one 32oz bottle and the lifestraw and I am set. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

      Oh man...giardia is not fun. Thanks for sharing that story with us. I usually carry the iodine tablets with me...but you've convinced me maybe a lifestraw is worth carrying around too.

    I had a 3 year Stent as a fishing guide, I was known for my land based shark fishing trips and topwater reds from guided kayak trips . I had a client ask about a 4 day camping/ land based shark trip on a island here in nc . I arranged for everything necessary, tents, gear ect... . Well what I didn't account for was a broke down ferry to take us back after 4 days. My client had a blast , 21 sharks landed 3 over 8ft, one that was 10ft+ . I had a 4 day supply of food and water. Knowing it was a 30 minute ride back to the main land. The captain called me saying he was trying to find a person to pick us up because of his boat being broke down. I told my client and he shrugged is shoulders and said he doesn't have to be anywhere important. So it was bluefish for breakfast lunch and dinner with 3 gallons of drinking water between us for 2 more days . Luckily we got picked up early in the morning. A hot shower and cup of coffee never felt so good lol

      Great story Matthew; I really enjoyed it. Those unforeseeable circumstances are extra tricky. Trapped but able to fish...an enjoyable predicament. And you did some guide work? Very cool!

    I was in a boat with my fairly new husband and his dad. We were fishing for bass, and they were biting. At that time, most of my casts got tangled, or the lure fell next to the boat. I really wanted to show I could cast far out, so I put a lot of power into the forward thrust and as my lure flew over the water, the pole followed. We never found that fishing pole, and 37+ years later, I still get teased.

      Oh that's a good one Barbara! Thanks for sharing. Don't feel bad---I've thrown a pole over too, though I then proceeded to dive in after it. =) Cheers!

    Really enjoyed the video. Also enjoyed the fishers experience, especially the 'graduation' of the new fisher to intermediate. Just let him know that I'm been fishing for over 60 years, having fished from the NE to the Florida Keys and in Europe, have been fishing with some bass tourney pros, and every time, and I mean every time I go fishing, I learn something new. I guess that's one of the attractions of fishing for me. Even though I studied biology in college with a concentration on aquatic ecology, my interest was also with herbs, but I was interested in salamanders, but snakes are fascinating as well.
    A bit of advice for fishing in the surf, is that one of the main reasons for the long rods, in addition to casting longer distance is that longer rod lets you keep the rod tip high - this does two things; it allows the angler to keep the line out of the water, reducing the drag of the breaking waves on the line, it also minimizes the accumulation of weed of the line as the less line, less chance to get the line fouled. this also permits what line that fouls the line to slide down the line where it tends too come free. I also think that the biology of the fish (with the exception of rays and flatfish) with form following function, pressure from the top is harder for fish to resist than pressure from the side.
    Also some advice for moving camping weight where rods or trails are hard surface and pretty clear, wheels sure make it easier, as even though its not common, a two wheeled trailer make carrying so much easier. Unfortunately, such trailers are not common, but they can be made along the lines of bicycle trailers.

      Thanks Charles, great advice you've shared. And I totally agree that every time I learn something new every single time I'm out on the water fishing. Everyone and every situation has something to offer. And yes...I have greatly considered now purchasing an off-road wagon to haul gear now. =)

    Great! Loved Caesar’s catch and the whole ambience of the trip! Can’t imagine carrying that kind of weight for 9 miles. The segment on what you packed was hilarious!

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Sarah! Yeah, it was really great to see Caesar get that one. And I'm glad you liked the gear sequence...I thought it may have been a bit long and overdone but at least one person likes it!

    • @sarahlarson8226
      @sarahlarson8226 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it had been any shorter, the shear magnitude of what you took could not have been conveyed! You packed for a month! Two! So funny!

    Make sure you don't leave your tackle box in the car before heading out to sea/lake.....the excitement of a fishing trip often can cloud your better judgment. Relax, double check everything, have patience. That way you can enjoy your trip to the fullest!

    Made this same mistake 2021 myself, we going to kayak it but the wind was so bad we couldn't, so we decided to hike it. we had a great time but that trip about wore me out.. we camp in the same spot. might try biking it spring 2023.

    I have been thinking about just going camping and hiking there.
    We would have to hike in with all our camping gear?
    Could I load up a wagon and drag that or does the park frown upon that?
    thank you for the vid.

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Best to get a wagon or a deer cart to haul in your stuff. Pretty sure only the park officials can use motorized vehicles.

    Here's a story...I've been fishing for under 1 year. I have 4 Ontario Angler Awards, and a near record Buffalo. Shame that actions dont speak louder than words on this platform...I cant earn subs because I'm not favored by those who control the media sites.
    Now I've been banned over and over to suppress me, so that others in the club can steal all the views.
