    Bett’s 1/32 and 1/50 split tail spinners. The 1/50 has a tendency to kick out at faster retrieves. Looking for a better connection than tying directly to loop on lure because of knot failure.

    I agree with the efficacy of small spinners, spoons, and plugs for sunnies.
    My two favorite spinners are 0 sized Mepps and Panther Martins.
    For spoons I’m right with you o. Dardevil and Kastmasters.
    For plugs I’ve done well with the Rebel Lil Hopper, Mystic Minnows, and Strike King Bitsy Minnow.

    I like yo-Zuri lures. Another great bait company is eurotackle. They have a mini popper that I have caught crappie, panfish, and bass on. Also they have a 2 inch jerkbait that slays them as well. Thanks for the content!

      Thanks for the tips on those lures Fisherman 83! I do like some of Eurotackle's stuff as well so I'll have to try those down the road.

    Renosky keystone jig. Seems to be the best lure ever made if you’ll put it on a small spinner. That is if you want numbers.

    I’ve been experimenting with my own custom single hook rooster tails. I did this for various reasons including quick release and less harsh on the fish. Results have been mixed. I’m using 1/6 or 1/4 oz rooster tails and a size 4 gamakatsu siwash. Results have been Lots of snags lots lutes and a few hitsiIncluding a nice green sunny. I am changing to a size 6 and will make new ones and report back. Love your vibe and approach to fishing and pretty much everything.

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very sweet, David! I dig the experimentation on that, especially to make the releases easier on the fish. Keep us posted on if you find success with a lure type. Cheers!

    I love fishing for sunfish. I find that I catch more sunfish using flies and a fly rod than I do using traditional tackle. In my honest opinion there is nothing better than a sunfish coming to the surface to take a dry fly.

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll agree that it's a lot of fun being able to watch a fish come up and hit a fly!

    Strike King bitsy pond minnow is by far my favorite sunfish crankbaits. I too love the daredevel and kastmaster spoon with the kastmaster being the more versatile of the two I gotta add the swedish pimple to that list it fished deep easier. I make my own beetle spins and am helping design one for lealand lures. It should be out next spring.

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, wow that's very cool that you are designing lures! The Swedish Pimple...that's a spoon I think. I'm not sure I've ever used one. Thanks for sharing that.

  • @ExplorishingAdventures
    @ExplorishingAdventures ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh, and you can’t leave out Strike King Bitsy Minnow crank! That thing is suspending or slow sinking work horse! I prefer is over the Yozuri Snap Bean because I feel the Snap Bean sinks to fast most times, especially around here in more slack water, but that Bitsy Minnow is awesome and we’ve caught bass over 4lbs and even crappie over 13” on it.

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, thanks for that tip. That's the second suggestion on the Bitsy Minnow so I'm definitely going to have to give it a go.

      @@KNFishingSmarts I wouldn't think you'd be disappointed but some people are odd. lol Oh, also the 1" lipless crank baits have been pretty deadly for us too. If you watched the one video I was tearing up crappie with the Nortland Rippin Shad. I had a couple good days with the 1" Rat-l-traps in the cooler months.

    Also.. trying to get a few kast master spoons. what is the length you recommend on the 1/12 oz?

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The original spoons of the 1/12 oz should all be the same size. But I took a few out of my box to measure 'em just in case. The 1/12 oz ones I use are almost exactly 30 mm tip to tip on the metal body. Hope that helps!

    I like hairjigs, and jigheads in general: They don't snag quite as easily as something towing a treble, and you can always tip them with something like a gulp minnow or a crappie bite. The primary reason? I guthook less feeesh. Period. I think it's just the angle of the line VS the hook, but only once or twice have I seen a fish straight up swallow the thing. I've actually had a massive northern sunfish (they don't get that big, but they have HUGE mouths) completely swallow a rebel crickhopper... there's no saving a fish that swallowed a treble all the way past its gills.
    Really though, just a standard Lindy-jig, tipped with a gulp soft bait if you feel like it. Weighted ice fishing flies work fantastic any month of the year.

    I hate using treble hooks for sunfish. It's too easy to harm or kill them. For me a single hook is necessary unless I'm keeping fish

    • @KNFishingSmarts
      @KNFishingSmarts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. Trebles can be a hassle for the little ones. I always make sure to make quick hooksets on taught line so there's no swallowing of the hooks. Thanks for sharing that, NcFishinMission!
