House of Cars
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 ธ.ค. 2013
House of Cars is a place for car stories. If there is a car with a tale behind it, this is where you will hear about it. Its not just another review channel, more a place where like-minded people with an obsession, an addiction to things with four wheels can gather without fear of being judged and indulge in our weakness - the car. Slow cars, fast cars. Old cars, new cars. Small cars, big cars. If you love cars, then you will find them all here in the House of Cars.
So come in and make yourself comfortable.

Renault Rafale - a flight of fancy?
Renault seem to be on a roll at the moment, and their new Rafale flagship is hoping to cash in on that and convince you that you shouldn't be buying another BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Audi and turning your attention to the French brand. But does such a concoction of carnally work? A coupe-SUV-crossover with a small petrol engine mated to hybrid drivetrain? The only way to find out was to spend 2 weeks an over 900 miles with one, including a trip to Scotland and back to find out.

Cupra Leon - And it was all going so well, until.......part 1.
มุมมอง 4K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hot hatchbacks used be all the rage. They were practical, fun and fast. And one of the very best was the Seat Leon Cupra. But since the heyday of the the genre, the cars have grown up a little, become more sophisticated, more powerful, and inevitably more expensive. So naturally people have looked towards the more premium badges, such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-AMG, all of whom offer a fast hatc...
Genesis GV80 - Why this car has failed.
มุมมอง 8Kหลายเดือนก่อน
The Genesis brand had some big aspirations when it launched as a complete standalone. And in many ways, their confidence was justified with their excellent electric offerings such as the GV60, GV70 and G80 Electrified. But sitting atop the range was large, bold, very luxurious SUV that seemed to offer something a bit more special than the ubiquitous BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. So why didn't...
BMW X3 - Is BMW's best seller its best all-rounder?
มุมมอง 24Kหลายเดือนก่อน
In 2023 the X3 was BMW's best-selling car globally, despite ether fact it was due to be replaced. This shows that the mid-sized 'SAV' (Sports Activity Vehicle) was a great all-rounder. So the Bavarian firm cannot afford to get the new one wrong. Have they? I spend the day driving the new XDrive 20 M-Sport in an attempt to get a better understanding of how they have made an all-new car, yet stil...
MG HS - The family car that's hard to ignore.

Since the MG brand relaunched under Chinese ownership, it would be fair to say that the cars were big on value, but through being big on budget feel. And that was probably down to the fact that it offers a lot of car for the mon...

A much as we all love our SUVs, there is no denying that the good old estate car is still a far cooler way to be practical. Well now there's a new one, and this time its the estate model that gets all the attention - because t...
Renault Austral v's Hyundai Tucson - Family crossovers tested by my family!

Family cars have changed over the years, and with the cost of living the way it is at the moment, keeping an eye on budgets and costs is key. Kia's Sorento was always a great choice when it came to the larger end of the medium sized family SUVs, with the choice of drivetrains and seating for 7. Cupra has been master of its own destiny since it was formed as its own brand in 2018. Why they rush we Burn a litle bit of oil
Very good review, really informative. I have the non-coupe version of this car and engine in the Austral. I acknowledge the minor delay when you do something out of the ordinary, but we’re talking milliseconds and in fact the car still accelerates immediately using the torque from the large electric motor. What you actually experience is a whole bunch of gear changes because the electric engine has two gears, and the petrol has 4 gears and they can combine dependant on the load for a total of 13 possible gears, but there’s no real delay on acceleration that I’ve experienced. I have no issue with it, and it’s much better than my Mercedes traditional auto gearbox which is so slow to react to sudden requests it can be dangerous. I also find the ride absolutely fine, in fact better than my CRV it replaced, but then they don’t offer the 4wheel steer on the Austral anymore. Having said that, you can control the amount of input from the rear, and even switch it off if you don’t like it. One more point, it’s now a 2kw battery, not 1.7.
We want mazda Wankel divisions 😂
Sorry
I anticipate the price is afordable

Great review, stunning looking car but that engine choice is dire! Why didn't they just put a 3 ltr petrol engine in it!
Hi Brian, thank you for a very good honest test. Could you compare this car to the Cupra Terramar please? Which car would you buy if you had to choose and why. I am facing such a choice and would be grateful for your opinion🙂
I can’t help but wonder if I should have bought one of these instead of the Lexus LBX and saved myself £5k.
Another great review, Brian. I like this, I'd have one over the German offerings, just because its different and it has Perso... I've said it before, Renault are really cracking it at the moment, also with Dacia. Its badge snobbery that stops it selling here, although personally, I'd go for a Long Range Scenic or an Austral
peugeot 208 gt 2023 has that same hesitation ,example say coming up to a junction but not stopping and you can see a car coming in the distance but you have plenty of time to go ,so you put your foot on the accelerator and the cars does nothing for 3 seconds then starts to go
I have same engine in Austral and the car accelerates immediately, you just get this moment of the engine kicking in and the gear ratio changing, but acceleration is immediate from the huge electric motor which it prioritises. My Mercedes has that horrible huge delay too of 2-3 seconds so I know what you mean, but that’s not the case I’ve found with my Austral which is the non coupe version of the Rafale.
Great Review. No rear wiper or a spare wheel, just daft. 3 Cylinder, no way. Old Renaults did isolate bad roads, but not anymore. High tech complexity will prove unreliable in the long term.
Really interesting how the electric Megane and Scenic gave a better ride. Nice to see the heated windscreen on this model - I wish Renault would offer it for other models in the UK.
How about reviewing the MG ZS Hybrid+ ?
It’s on the cards…..
Another great review. I would say that it is a not car I would consider, the exterior is quite bland apart from the side profile and the dash look's odd it appears to have a air vent between the two screen's . I like the google set up and wished my DS 7 had it as DS own system is not that good . Thanks once again. Next please.
Shame about the drive as it’s a good looking car.
Renaults would be top of my list if they didn't have such a high boot sill. It makes cars otherwise on the shopping list unusable. They've gone for a low one with the Renault 4, which I hope catches on.
Awaiting delivery of a Hybrid VZ3, cannot wait
Hi Bryan, great review with lots of detailed content. I live in Ireland & have just ordered a new Sorento over the Santa Fe for the following reasons, 1) Only one spec level (mid range) 2) No choice on interior colour black/black only 3) The Santa Fe is €7k more expensive While I completely agree with you on the ride & the interior standard it’s not €7k better.. No where near it. Please keep up the great reviews, they really help potential buyers make more educated decisions..
Glad it was helpful! And thank you for the constructive feedback and support.
Inside is like in some cheap China night club… especially the doors and front panel… engine and transmission is from before…
Yes automatic and more bhp . Honda should step up. May be v6 and automatic civic
Here's the thing with dealerships: people who are affluent and really 'get it' know that the most important commodity they have in life is their TIME. I personally don't mind skipping a free dealership cappuccino and would much rather have someone bring a loaner car to my home or work, pick up my vehicle and then drop it back to wherever I choose when the service is completed. My tennis buddy bought a GV70 and they actually vacuumed the interior and basically did a mini exterior detailing before returning the car. Unreal service. Genesis is expanding their network and creating many standalone service centers so they're definitely on the right track and if you live closer to a Genesis dealership, should take advantage of the concierge service if its offered...
And I compliment the after sales package on the video. It’s nothing to do with that, it’s the purchasing experience I’m discussing. And that comes from nearly 30 years experience of selling cars, 20 of which to HNW individuals, so it is something I have experience in.
I will absolutely be buying a 2nd hand Type R in a few years once most of the depreciation has kicked in. Amazing car.
I’m Considering buying a Cooper S/JCW and came across your video. Have to say of all the car reviews I’ve watched on TH-cam over the years this has been one of the best. Really impressive review and explanation…concise, to the point and extremely informative. Nice one 😊….oh and I absolutely love the new rear end !!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. Appreciate the feedback and support and glad you enjoyed the review.
I’m currently driving a 73 plate Corolla (Design trim) which is my third Corolla , out of 7 or 8 Toyotas . I will be looking carefully at this new Yaris Cross for my next vehicle. Excellent review.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the review. Great little car and well worth a look.
Excellent review! I just purchased one ( 2024 MY) with the CF roof and race seats. It looks to be the last of the ICE ones as EV/hybrid models could be in the horizon of Alfa.. cheers
Negatives 1. Sunroof that doesn't open 2. Speed warning chime 3. Log into your car so it knows who is driving. 4. Camera that watches everything inside the cabin. Microphones that listen? 5. Ugly styling inside and out. 6. Cheap looking materials. 7. No hard HVAC control buttons.
Hate it when reviewers sit on the cars, would you sit on your own car?
I'm surprised by this review saying it's not noisy and that it accelerates well. I took it for a test drive yesterday, and it seemed very loud during acceleration and noticeably slow to pick up speed.
Well done for a review of the DS7 crossback, our 21 redg 225 petrol only lovely car but thought a real problem with rear suspension as very unsettled by bumps in road surface, but glad to hear it's not just ours been involved in an incident at some previous time in it's life, but a fault from DS design.
Forget the new X3 M50, buy a low km 2024 X3 M40. The interior is horrendous…..full of cheap hard plastics, and that weird “jewellery box” is so ugly without having a sliding cover. It looks like the BMW designers were told to make their best selling model, into just another suv rather than a Best in Class! So it’s a total FAIL from me……buy the previous model, or spend the extra and buy a 2025 X5. Oh, and the grill on the 2,0L X3…… well that would be enough to keep a buyer walking straight past the BMW dealer.
i would always take the car with the longest garantie --> the MG VAG engines have too often construktion failures besz wishes from germany
Thanks a lot for your review! A perfect investment for a family car, doesn't needs much more.
Sooo much plastic😒
Honda need automatic and more bhp. Very week
Absolutely not. The gearshift is part of the reason this car is so great, and why would you ever need more power than this delivers?
Imagine wanting an auto transmission in a type R
Whoever designed the front of the Cupra needs some new spectacles
I do prefer the older one from when it was the Seat Leon Cupra 280 from about 2014. Always liked that one for its looks.
I’m going to have to disagree with your critique of the CTR having “absolute perfection“ ergonomics on the interior. The reason for my disagreement is because the infotainment screen does not face the driver. If the infotainment screen did face the driver, then I would agree with your critique
He said the one thing in the interior he didn't like was the screen, both the functionality and lack of integration with the rest of the interior design, so he wasn't including that in his absolute perfection assessment. He did actually say it would have been better angled towards the driver.
I think the Type R is now to big to be a proper hot hatch. Id say it is now more in nudging the old evo segment, just not a awd one. Also i dont think a hot hatch has to be all out rapid. I always think a good example is the golf R is a faster car than the gti, but almost all that drive the two say they would rather own the gti. Its just more fun to drive on the road.
I agree with the Golf scenario. I’ve always felt the GTI was the better drive of the two. Much sweeter.
Had mine 7 months, similar spec with different wheels. Used daily and averaging 41mpg, it's charged every night at home which costs pennies
Both cars are good looking.
