Update - The Santa Fe PHEV was released on Tuesday in Italy and I ordered mine on Thursday (May delivery). If you want to come to Italy to do a customer review, you are more than welcome
Great review thank you.. I have been a Lexus snob for the past 14 years.. was thinking about ordering a new RX.. This Santa Fe has turned my head.. I have a test drive booked for this Saturday… I really want this car to turn me on Saturday.. I will order one if it does that… There is nothing I don’t like at this stage. Let’s hope the drive doesn’t let me down!🤞🏻 I appreciate the time it takes to put this review together. Thank you.
First of all, thank you for taking the time to watch the review and comment. I really appreciate it. I do hope you enjoy your test drive this weekend as I really rate this car. Let me know how you get on! Bryan

I pick up my new Santa Fe tomorrow… like I said after 14 or so years with Lexus and 7 different Lexus cars I have brought a Hyundai… I didn’t think I would ever be saying that… The Santa Fe is brilliant. Thanks for the informative review. What a coincidence that you reviewed the Kodiaq and Santa Fa in quick succession. I have owned an Octavia II (8 years) and now a Superb III (9 years) and am looking for a replacement. My shortlist: Santa Fe, Kodiaq, Lexus RX, Mazda CX-80. I have test driven all of them. The last two are considerably more expensive. The family favourites are the Santa Fe and the Kodiaq. Purely on the list of features, the Kodiaq seems to be the rational choice, as it offers more: diesel (better economy), matrix lights, adaptive chassis, 40/20/40 rear seats (good for skis), front seats with massage function, heated windscreen,... but there is something about the Santa Fe. We like the looks, the comfortable ride, the quiet cabin. The Kodiaq's interior has improved, but it does not have the same feel as the Santa Fe. So my brain is in conflict with my heart, whether it is worth it to drive almost 3 litres/100km more on the motorway... (towing is not an issue for me).
I am in the exact same predicament as you. I have the new Škoda Kodiaq PHEV (Sportline), Mazda CX-60 or CX-80 PHEV (Homura), Honda CR-V PHEV (Advance tech) and Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV (Ultimate or Calligraphy) on my radar. My mind is telling me to go for the Škoda in Sportline trim… Matrix LED headlights, massage, heated and ventilated seats, Dynamic Chassis Control, heated windscreen and the most important for me is the PHEV range for the Kodiaq is 65> miles (compared to the measly
Really enjoyed your review, so subscribed to your channel. We've had our AWD Hybrid Calligraphy for a month now and are very impressed. The Sport mode is handy when we visit Colorado. We can select gears when in cruise control in the mountains so it's not constantly shifting up and down. The downside to the Santa Fe, everyone calls me when we're traveling to play golf.
Great review, the best I have seen on the Santa Fe, I love all the tech and I love the rear end. I have been looking for something suitable to replace my Vito 204 Van which I have had from new since September 2010. It has served me very well all these years. I don't need another van but love the space. Hyundai Santa Fe is now top of my list and I have booked a test drive for this week. If it drives as well as you then I will place an order there and then. Thanks keep up the great work Nick
@@houseofcars1973 So, I have been to see the SF but have not been able to drive it yet, they had already sold it to the owners mate (that's Italy for you) and it will be 6 to 8 weeks for the next one. The thing they should do better is the bench. It should have 40 / 20 / 40 split and as in KIA EV 9 - so called childseat tilt for 1/3 of the bench - it allows to have childseat installed with isofix and still move the chair for 3rd row access. VW does it for whole bench in ID Buzz and for all seats in Touran - in my opinon - mthe most usefiull thing for families with small kids.

If you are looking at a Sant Fe, do yourself a favor and at least look at the Palisade. Very similar in room. The 2026 Palisade will have the last remaining features that the Sante Fe jumped ahead of it. But the Santa Fe is a 4 cylinder turbo charged engine with questionable transmition ideas. At the very least, check the 6 cylinder Palisade out, it's got trade offs. But the engine pairing and transmition on the Santa Fe may make some savvy buyers a bit worried and the Palisade is just as nice and spacious. The Santa Fe looks. great, feels great, is a great driver experience but... I could not get over the engine and transmission issues and went with the proven Palisade.

I'm driving the new Sorrento in a couple of weeks, and I am currently driving the new Honda CRV e:PHEV. So far, the Santa Fe would still be the one for me.
I loved the way this drove and also the VW ID7 tourer. I know completely different cars with the ID7 being fully electric. Loved the practicality of the Santa Fe but the ID7 is also quite raised up as well as being very spacious. Have you driven the ID7? How would you compare to this?
@@houseofcars1973im really struggling with the decision and about to order. I only drive on normal roads and considering 4wd only because I am about to order and the 4wd is in stock? Any pros and cons with the two systems to consider?
No real cons with it other than the additional cost to you I suppose. Better traction, but slightly heavier and therefore less efficient. But then it’s probably a bit more desirable second hand when you come to sell it in the future. I’d go with it.
what a car yes I should not have compared this with the EV9 been a EV as it don't fit on this channel as you no im hear for the first time I really like this car also added to the shopping list 👍
I have not had good customer service form Hyundai dealers in general. This family school run, weekend hack is attractive but once out of electric range they are thirsty and the lack of torque at higher speeds is concerning affecting overall fuel economy from the petrol only engines. Was it 36mpg in your video? Its no Land Rover and not quite fair to compare it to Discovery or above. Space is attractive but without a diesel and with poor towing performance Hyundai have missed out. Not sure I enjoyed all the praise on this one. I think you are correct insofar this is an MPV replacement and that is its market in this country.
I agree that the lack of diesel (or at least a more powerful engine for towing) is a oversight, but in all other respects, this is an impressive car for the market that it is aimed at. I'm currently driving the new Honda CRV e:PHEV which is more expensive than this car, has only 5 seats, is less well equipped, and whilst very nice to drive, isn't as competent overall as the Santa Fe. I can't comment on the poor customer service you have experienced though, so I am disappointed to hear that. Its a great family car, very refined and has a quality that really is very impressive against some very good, if a little ordinary, competition. But yes, the towing capability (or lack of) is a flaw, I agree. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
90% of the people that buy SUV's with massive engines, specially Land Rovers, are not really towing anything and do not need those massive engines at all. In the US the Land Rover is typically an upper middle class soccer mom car.. I'm sure there is a small segment of people that buys them because they need that power but i'm sure is an absolute minority. Having that into consideration the Hyundai is definitely biting the luxury SUV market with this new Santa Fe. Tech/Design/features wise it looks a decade ahead of most of the competition. The engine in this Hyundai could be a tad bit more powerful but the reality is that is perfectly adequate for most cases and every single review of the car says the same.. the engine/torque is a non issue.
i tried to spec one and it didn't have an option for the light interior. Any idea how to get that? seems to be only dark. I'm based in the UK too which is why i don't understand why we can't see it
It’s a pity that it lacks a diesel engine matched to the hybrid system because, for a handful of people like me, we have home bunkered fuel stations to run our diesel fleet. So diesel, besides being even more economical, would be way more convenient for me, especially if an 80 litre fuel tank could be fitted to give potentially a thousand mile range before refilling the tank. Perhaps the Kia or Kodiak would be a better match for me? I had a 2.2 diesel Kia Sorento with their eight speed DCT up until November 2023, and it was brilliant. I think that even with the amount of thought that went into the Hyundai, the diesel with eight speed might swing it for me.
