7:14 Unless of course the dropship disabled clouds in settings!
the world is not ready for this vid yet man. they dont understand how big a deal this is :)
It's alright. If FCS is as good as we hope, they'll be surprised for sure.
I hope control surfaces making some more agile in atmosphere will only be for fast speeds, with those with VTOL having an advantage when requiring slow speed operations.
Agreed
Today you will never see two fleets fight so close. Whatever happened to long range weaponry in the future?
Cinematic is not a game.
The designers of all the ships are AMAZING.
Agreed!
It was very good-looking cinematic but boring. It was no different and just as painfully stupid as any other starwarsy spacebattle slop we see all the time. Was hoping to see competence and smarts from ALL involved in that battle, really show off why they are good at what they do. Lean into "Simulation" aspect of SC. There was very little to be found, apparently traded for cheap tropes back at port.. If that admiral is lauded as legendary or whatever.. all he really did was not choke himself with his shoelaces, wich is a grand feat of military prowess, i know. And with this everyone just come off as a bunch of sleepy idiots playing soldier (esp that gunnery guy.. is he the janitor and did the whole "fake it till you make it" thing?) ANyway, for what it is, its good. Could have been much better imo. Just too much substance was sacrificed to service the cinematic camera and create fake tension.
That's ironic because most of us service members, including myself, as well as some of my close friends I've served with that have seen combat, said it one of the best portrayals of military combat. It's chaotic. It's messy. And nothing ever goes perfectly.
Let me see, great graphics, great storyline, great actors all kept me enthralled to what will happen next.....and i bloody hope theres a next!
There definitely will be when we see it finally release.
@Hav0k love this reply 👍😉
Who else wants a real movie from this game ?
Yes please 😄
Congratulations to the winners.
the catapult to shot the spaceships in a space where there is no gravity is simply RIDICULOS! ... ridiculous like the music in background
You're aware that these styles of catapults are designed to launch a ship on a linear path to maximum speed without deviating? They can accelerate a ship to maximum speed quicker than a main thruster. It isn't gravity that's the issue. It's the power of the thruster to propel an object that has mass. Main thrusters or engines aren't instantaneous acceleration. They take time to spool up. An electromagnetic catapult, such as on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, use them to launch planes to a high enough velocity in a short distance to get them clear of the ship, off the deck and airborne. This, in my mind, is the same approach in many ways.
Really nice and interesting video (!) however while I would love all this to be true, to say I have my doubts would be a monumental understatement..... CIG has been talking a good game (ha!) for over a decade, but has unfortuately and consistantly crapped in this particular punchbowl repeatedly. For every ship like the Gladius, Sabre, 300-series etc that could believeably benefit in atmosphere from aerodynamics and flippy-bit control surfaces, even including ships sporting CIG's magic copium "VTOL" like many of their haulers and dropships, 'rule of cool" and marketing has created an ever increasing list of completely moronic examples like the Hawk, Yay Asymmetry! Corsair, and pretty much every alien/schmalien concept to date (just to name a few) that they can really only explain away because it's a "game". In short a realistic flight model founded on things like actually believeable physics and functional geometry etc is mostly pointless when at least half of their ships will continue to require a handwavium doctor's note to remain viable when anywhere near one of their very pretty planets (aka "balance"). Not that CIG won't keep being CIG and continue to farm daydreams, sell theorycraft, and throw piles of their time & backer-bucks at such things, at the end of the day the ships in Star Citizen will continue to "fly" as they do (or at all) only because CIG says so. And their weather effects will of course provide for some very cool and pretty atmosphere. 🍻
I just want the game to be fun. That's all I care about. 🤷♂️
DUDE THIS GAME LOOKS INSANE, i can't wait to play it
The thrust is so powerful that not even gravity can pull your ship to the surface of any stars and planets, so why should strong winds and bad weather bother you? 😂
You're aware that if a strong wind hits a ship that doesn't have a whole lot of mass, it'll still experience turbulence, right? Cause it'll still affect ships that have extremely high thrust to weight ratios.
Am closing on 70 years old ,have been a gamer since i was 14.The whole thing looks and sounds awesome , some deja vu to star wars intro scene, and Mass E3 end fight scene, tactically not a good idea to fight with what you are defending right behind you as any thing that misses you will hit the planet. will start saving for it now , this one like BG3 i will pay release price, had been 20 years since i paid full price before BG3, good on ya for this work .
Looks great. Best I have seen since ME3.
Agreed!
It will be really neat, just around the corner….
This is good but far from the best space battle ever
For the empire!
When they add realistic weather conditions the first thing I do is fly into the depths of Crusader to see how quickly I die
It would be nice to have an actual mechanic in the game that communicates the building pressure the lower you go
@@Hav0kand seeing your ship crumple lmao
@@gorrett yes
Our squad has been waiting for this forever. A few of us play DCS and what a dream it would be to have the awesome machines of SC (Arrow, Gladius, Sabre, etc) in a more realistic flight model for atmospheric combat. It will bring skill and tactics back to SC and also bring dynamic combat scenarios that will increase the interest pool for SC. My hope is that this is realized sooner than later. Awesome content my dude, Stay Frosty!
I really miss playing DCS. It's been too long since I've played. But I agree. I'm really looking forward to a more realistic atmospheric flight model. And it will bring a ton of skill and tactics back. Glad you liked the video! o7
I like your videos.
Glad you like the videos!
And there is the problem with Star Citizen. Everything is "Imagine this" "Imagine that" because they rarely deliver on what they promise, so the rest is left up to the immagination.
Yeah it does get a little tiring for me. But at this point it keeps me engaged because there is the potential. Just waiting for them to make things stable and add a bit more to it
4:55 When the news is so shocking you become a whole different person.
i WAS ABOUT to write the same thing! but saw your post first. lol
@@RealTanku war will change you.
Im pretty sure the idea of transient jump points is not only do they move around a system, they also open and close. So if you started constructing a station near one, by the time you finished it would be gone.
Not all transient jump points .ove actually. In the future they plan to have static ones that are hidden.
I hate all the big windows
Anyone else hear the puffer fish with a carrot everytime that cannon fires?
Love this video, thanks. :)
Glad you enjoyed the video! More will follow
Something that REALLY bugs me about all simulated small spacecraft is the need to show them banking to turn. That is a manoeuvre designed for atmospheric flight, where aerodynamic forces like lift and drag influence movement. In space, there’s no atmosphere to create those forces. I know, i know its a game and there needs to be some suspense of disbelief but its just something I see time and time again.
Great Video. I enjoy thinking about what could be and how to best prepare myself.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I won't rise from pessimism until I hear about thruster efficiency curves
Yeah that would be an interesting thing to hear about.
I dont get why they call women officer sir in these games.
It's traditionally a British Military regulation. All officers are "sir" regardless of gender. They likely copied rather than modernized it.
I am also super hyped for these changes to the flight model and wheather. It will change the game so much more than we can comprehend 😊 imagine zooming through the canyons and clouds of Cascom, uh it’s going to be awesome 🤩
I agree. Cascom is my most anticipated location!
Even in the future you cannot escape tons of spam 2:36 Also I hate it when I get stabbed in the stomach and the blade doesn't touch my spine but somehow I lose all control of my legs. Also Also I thought this was a giant movie, didn't know there would be gamplay. This is pretty cool though.
There is indeed gameplay. I just cut it out to focus on the cinematics.
Imagine light fighter pilots adapting to a game where they don't dictate meta. (And play the game how it was originally designed at concept. Multicrew mmorpg)
That new capital ship should have it's size and weight weight against landing on a planetary air density, wind patterns, and planetary gravity, also sling shots would be nice. In ED there was a community contest finding high g planets and glide just above the planets atmosphere propelling the craft much faster similar to what NASA did with new voyager. It would remove the need to go to quantum just to get to the right side of a planet.
That would be interesting to see actually
Back in the 2.6x era of SC when Delamar was in the Stanton system we were able to set a speed and trajectory to this asteroid/moon and achieve an orbit while in decoupled mode. If you were off on your angles you would either slingshot away or crash into the ground. We would compete to see who could achieve the best orbit by how many complete orbits your ship could make without making any corrections after entry. For larger moons and planets however, our ships nav speeds are too low I think to achieve this, or slingshot in any meaningful way to traverse the system
I'd love for that to return tbh
Control surfacese is sucha weird topic when half the ships in game have the aerodynamic profile of a brick. They will have to fake those lol
They'll probably fake them a little bit. But I think the changes are really going to be interesting
Then those ships should be restricted to space, or just enough hydrogen for take off/landing
@@SandMan_86 i mean that would just make the game worse if those ships couldn't land on planets. I think they have a solid approach to balance it.
@@Hav0k why? It would create better game loops and emergent gameplay imo
@@SandMan_86 because it pigeon-holes people to have specific ships and will make the gameplay very limiting.
I can't wait for atmospheric flight to be a thing. All the low flying videos just look so unrealistic.
That's what I'm saying!
I just don’t know if this will ever get implemented. They keep saying it will
The physics on those fighters look/feel like fighter jets in atmosphere... when are we going to get Babylon 5-like or Expanse-like physics? It looks pretty but it's wrong. It's all wrong.
If MM has dumbed things down then control surfaces and weather simulation might smarten them back up again. I'm really looking forward to it.
Very good and good voice actors too. Love them all, but WHAT HAPPENED? Did they escape? Did they ram and destroy the King ship?
This is just the prologue. Unfortunately, they left it as a cliffhangar on purpose, so it's not spoiled, and people will get to experience it when it releases.
Whats insane is this is all they have to show from 700+ million in funding. Wild.
What's insane is that you think this is all they have to show from it. This is just the prologue of 1 of the 2 games they're making.
@@Hav0k Star Citizen, 12years and counting. Squadron 42, 10 years and counting. Its **objectively** an insane amount of money and time for a prologue to be the only thing shown. Not to mention the P.U to be in a nigh unplayable state, alpha or not is laughable.
It's not in an unplayable stay at all. That's definitely misinformation.
@@Hav0k it isnt though.
@GenesisDG it is, though. What in the world am I playing that keeps delivering hours and hours of fun? Just because you think it's in an unplayable state doesn't make it true. Your statement is a subjective reality. Not objective. The short of it is that we all hold different perspectives. Just because you see something one way doesn't make it true. It's subjective.
Gold standard coming ….4099
good prodeution, shout out to the talent team behind this.
@3:12 why does he address the commander as sir? Could someone explain to me how to thank you in advance?
Many services used the term "Sir" when addressing officers back in the day. The US army no longer does, but the British military still does. So, it's likely that CIG had a British military consultant.
@@Hav0k us army still addresses officers as sir.
@@D3nchanter As a current US army service member, that is 100% not true. Per regulation we are required to address female officers as "Ma'am" and male officers as "Sir".
