Sean Connery is probably the best all-round Bond because he did everything well. Other Bonds were maybe better in one aspect (fight scenes / being suave / being handsome / capable of murder) and preferred because the films / villains/ gadgets / girls/ sidekicks are better in their run. (Looking at you, Roger Moore). In my list of best British actors I'd have Jeremy Irons, Dame Maggie Smith, Steve Pemberton, Rowan Atkinson, and Maisie Williams (though i haven't seen her latest work). Honourable mention to Emily Blunt for her versatility.

Its really _not_ "Bri'iain" ... Its actually _Britain_ Re female comedians... My preferred one is Sarah Millican... Of course, she does swear or to use an American descripption, uses profanity, curse words / vulgar slang...so perhaps not suited to your family audience, but for me (& my three adult offspring) she's really funny, observant, insightful, and in a way, a female equivalent to the great Ricky Gervaise in some respects, though she is not an actress, or scriptwriter. Personally my favourite comedy series was Hitchikers Guide by Douglas Adams, what a blast! Others include Red Dwarf, Vicar of Dibley, Absolutely Fabulous, Only Fools and Horses, the original Dads Army, Black Adder and Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister, along with Fawlty Towers, Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, to name but a few.

Little Britain was finally accepted as being racist and classist. I believe both of them have apologized and said they regret many of the sketches

This morning while walking the dog I was chatting briefly with someone also walking their dog, "where are you from?" came up somehow, I replied with my place of birth and the person said that's near X a town known in the Yorkshire region as not being the best place to be from, I almost but not quite laughing replied with fxck off, he started to laugh while calling me an even more obscene word, the tone and pattern of the exchange was important because we both knew that it was in jest, but this is quite common in many parts of the UK (but not all), there was no mallace involved and we parted on good terms, this is knowing when and when not to say certain things, they don't have to be obscene, it's part of the culture in the UK.

Mandy, you and I have very different ideas of what is funny. Whilst I agree with Fawlty Towers, there's also Dad's Army, Absolutely Fabulous, Blackadder, Red Dwarf, Yes Minister, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, The Vicar Of Dibley and so many others which I reckon knocks your selection into a cocked hat.

I went to a shop today, one transaction involved the shop assistant and I between us saying thank you 6 times, mostly when one of us was giving something to the other person. Thank yous in shops is as complex as kissing cheeks is to the French, when do you say it when don't you, and how often. As for queues, in the British Bible, there are 11 commandments, No 11 is, you will not push into a queue or Hell and damnation will be your fate..

Very few mention Yes Minister, it is very funny, and so true today, nothing changes in politics. Also Allo allo.

Of the "newer comedies it worth checking out: Father Ted, Derry Girls, Still Game, Black Books, Phoenix Nights, The League of Gentleman, Mock The Week and Inside No9.

Manky is not swearing and tosser is far worse than wanker. The T word is so misogynistic it is only used by men who hate women.

The one I could forever watch Father Ted. Make me laugh even knowing what is coming.

Lol - Little Britain's already been "soft" cancelled, the pair of them on record apologising for "insensitivity". Matt Lucas seems pretty cool, but I suspect it's more a cover for Walliams bad behaviour over the years... I find Taskmaster painfully unwatchable, even with comedians I like, the premise is tired and tiring. Fast Show's gold though.

Hi. May I suggest Shooting Stars with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. It might take a few shows to get into but this was a ‘must watch’ for us every week.

Don't know if you have watched them but I would add in there, Blackadder (including the following three series), Vicar of Dibley, Dad's Army (not the film remake) and maybe also One Foot in the Grave. With Blackadder, the first series is okay but still worth a watch but the following series get better and better for different reasons. You have Blackadder, Blackadder II, Blackadder the Third and Blackadder Goes Forth. But I do understand if you don't like them but check them out if you can. There are many good comedy shows such as 'Allo 'Allo and Bread, but in my opinion those sort of deteriorate as the series go on. Glad you love Fawlty Towers though, that is a classic.

Repeats of Little Britain is not shown on mainstream TV. It was made available on BBC Iplayer but with many of the offensive sketches removed. Even the two stars have apologised for the shows using black face and have bern criticised for creating racist sexist and homophobic comedy. It also seen as too repetitive the same jokes were repeated every week. They did try to revive the show with new characters in the last season but show fell flat as did thier American version Little Britian USA which only had 6 episodes before being cancelled

Mandy, I'm not surprised you went for Fawlty Towers as your number 1 favourite, I love it too and it'd be definitely in my top 5 comedy shows. My top 6 would be... 1. Only Fools and Horses, 2. Fawlty Towers, 3. Men Behaving Badly, 4. The Office (UK), 5. The Fast Show, 6. 8 Out Of 10 Cats does Countdown xx
