    I'm a Brit and followed the US election closely.. I was amazed from watching content on the Meidas Touch TH-cam channel just hoe many Americans critical thinking skills. Tariffs is a case in point, a huge number of people actually believe China would be paying them when it will ultimately be the end consumer. As for the rights of women, how anyone could vote for that is a sick mystery.

  • @simonnichols72

    I wept at the result, not for the American people, if they want to return to a segregated 3rd world dictatorship that's up to them. I wept for the rest of the world, and my grandchildren, who because of the US will now live on a dying planet. I don't blame Trump but the people who blindly, selfishly gave him power and doomed us all.

    I feel sorry for America and Americans. I believe the electorate will regret putting Trump in the white house. From someone from the UK Kamala Harris at least had some morality even if you didn't agree with some or all of her policies.

      Sorry to say you are wrong on both points, Of course people outside the US are aware of the presidential election in America and I am much safer here in in the UK than I ever was in the USA. But curious what I said specifically that collated to these conclusions...(honest question)...

    I've watched, studied, and commented on US socio-politics on a daily basis for about 15 years - and I think I'm about done. I was incredulous when Trump became POTUS in 2016-17, but maintained a belief that Americans would see their mistake, and turn away from this uneducated and racist shyster. I maintained that belief for 8 more years - until the early hours of November 6th.
    But now I've given up on America and the American people. I've come to realise that by and large, most American adults are shockingly intellectually immature, and that their personal values are base upon an inhumane social structure and a popular culture that is shallow in the extreme. Many Americans can name the Kardashian family, but would be hard pressed to name half a dozen European countries. Proud churchgoers, who are happy to put aside everything Christ taught, to disparage, and hate upon fellow American who are "different".
    I'm old, and life's too short, so I'm not going to waste any more time on a hopeless case. America has elected an ignorant, mentally ill criminal who shits his pants - to lead the Western world. Thanks America - goodbye and good luck.

      America has for years educated its people with propaganda. The MAGA movement is based on the fallacy that America was great in the first place. What most American do not understand is that until the late 60s, all that came out of the films and TV about America had to comply with the Hayes code. A code that decreed it was illegal to show America in a bad way. The Hayes code was a piece of legislation that would have been looked at favourably in places like North Korea or the USSR.

      Americans might deserve Trump but the world doesn't. Americans sometimes refer to their president as "Leader of the Free World". Some of them certainly act like they rule the world but only Americans get to choose who gets the job.

      There is a lack of critical thinking in our state education systems and a lack of knowledge of how government and democracy works. I increasingly feel political parties take advantage of this and use it to further their ends.

  • @MaoZhu-j6q
    @MaoZhu-j6q หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    America the land of the free, where your freedom extends to the extent that you have a choice of two political viewpoints, there are only two parties, how can that be free. All other democracies have multiple parties, you are not limited to voting for the two polar opposites. America's political freedom is not freedom, it is just dressed up to convince the people it is freedom. In a multi party system you have the freedom to choose left, right, middle and every colour in between. There is no political freedom in the USA, it is political straightjackets with a choice of two colours. Two parties that are totally controlled by big business. In Europe and the UK business sponsorship of politicians is illegal, in the USA it is accepted as the norm. Big business does not care if their product causes harm so long as it sells, the politicians they sponsor fight for that product not the safety of the citizens they represent.

    They did polling in England, and apparently we would have voted 84:16 in favour of Kamala. Take from that what you will. It could’ve something to do with education, having at least some non-biased media, the NHS and also being sceptical of clowns and showmen. And also I think we let everyone blow off some nationalist steam by allowing Brexit to happen, despite being a disaster, because it’s what people voted for. You were spot on when you spoke of an alienated group - and ignoring them. This is one good thing about Brexit, because that group got what it wanted. Imagine where we would be now if liberals had cancelled Brexit. We would be where America is now I think. This feels like America’s Brexit moment, but it’s clearly 10 to 20x worse in terms of the change that is coming. It will make Brexit look like a cakewalk.

    My only wonder now is why so many Americans are shocked, obviously many many Americans voted for him, what do those who did not vote or voted for 3rd party candidates (in a 2 party system this was never going to work) expect to happen.

    The fifth running into the sixth of November has to be one of the most startling political disasters of this twenty-first century in the United States - & the global ramifications that will, inexorably follow. I've been reading various economic journals & broadsheet newspapers in the run up to this Presidential election - the forecasts for which were rather disparaging, but as I understand it (now), fifteen million Americans did not bother to go to the polling stations; now, you've stated that you would not apportion blame to your compatriots, but that number is considerably more than apathetic; in fact, that's a shade over five percent per capita of the populace. Obviously, not every one who declined would have voted for the Harris camp, but I'm pretty sure the odds would have been in her favour (populist vote, notwithstanding). Ultimately, this is on the electorate, & now America owns it for the next four years, & whilst Trump will not necessarily live out this presidency, that equally divisive & corrupt invidiual, Vance still has his green years ahead of him - he's the one your family & friends need to concern themselves with. For you, dear lady, have dodged the proverbial bullet...& I am happy for you & your loved ones (here) in that regard....
