Apparently the early car manufacturers in the US were worried that they would get sued if someone was hit by a car, so they lobbied to make it the pedestrian's fault, unless they were using an official crossing. You crazy Americans, worried about getting sued!🤣🤣
Obviously I'm a bit cynical this week. It seems like having a rule for the sake of having rules, a tiny little way to get you used to the idea that The Police can stop you for such a little thing and you must obey authority. I remember being a kid and the adults in my life teaching me road safety and it being a little life/milestone when I was trusted to cross the road alone + when I was a bit older, to walk to school alone by crossing a few roads and feeling like a grown up. When I was in the US, I got "busted" for jaywalking, but the cop was nice about it, more interested in me being British and seemed to understand my confusion about not understanding how to cross roads over there. Not a bad experience, just weird.
The first paragraph is absolutely on the money, "you are the free-est people on the planet, but you can't cross the road there, nor there, no not there either and they don't see how it imposes on that freedom they make such a fuss about.

The fact that you have been doing this since you got monetized is one of the reasons I love your channel so much! (Besides you-of course, Girl!) ❤
Thank you for your endless support--You're like my official Hype Girl!
I was about to say, you actually started making a good case for preventing jaywalking. But looks like you realize that.😂
Thanks-yea, there’s no denying I’m an amateur! 😝
