Did the chicken just lay an egg?

I set a 5 gallon bucket on each side to prevent that until they got used to the opening and closing. Then I removed the buckets.

My neighbors have one chicken & one rooster & im not sure which one it is, but one is making this noise like its trying to crow loudly but instead sounds gurgle like, almost like it has a cold...lol When they first got it, the bird crowed loud like it should & now all of a sudden it sounds like they did something to "quiet" the bird? Could they do something like that to that poor bird???? They don't speak English & theirs 30some people living under one roof & their always different people every so often...This group of people brought these two birds with them & i really hope they didnt do something inhumane to quiet the birds crowing? Its a rooster & a chicken together in this 2 foot by 2 foot metal chicken wire cage, maybe smaller..any ideas of what they could have done to the birds level of crow??

My toddler REALLY wanted to make chicken sounds so I turned this on and now we have it on repeat while he does his happy dance and “talks” to your chickens 😂 thanks for uploading!

I just bought 3 tiny baby chicks from tractor supply and we started noticing one of them looking really lethargic and weak. It would stumble but wasn’t moving around. I figured it was that common starving sickness but not sure. He wouldn’t open his eyes much and sometimes he looked blind almost. so I started feeding and watering it by hand and nurse it back to health. He started to perk up but one min he would look stable on his feet and the next min it looked like he was drunk. And then he started walking and even running backwards. Like he was trying to go forward but couldn’t figure it out. Your chicken looks like it’s doin the same as mine?!?

I use sand in my coop , but I try to scoop out the poop droppings daily

Mine have started doing this first thing in the morning (since they started laying). They have a huge space, water, food etc and unfortunately I wont be able to keep them out of curtesy for my neighbours if I cant train them - anyone have advice on how to quiet them down?

I love using sand! I use play sand that's used for kid's sandboxes. It works fine. The walk in run is like a gigantic kitty litter box. I can rake up the "clumps" every morning and the girls have a clean place to hang out. Oh, I mix in a few handfuls of diatomaceous earth (food grade) each time I add a tub of sand. The girls love to bathe and roll around in the sand and throw it up under their wings and it helps keep mites and pests away.🙂

I really enjoyed your video journals here on youtube. I hope you are ok. It's been so long since you posted. Hope you, Rooster Daddy and all the hens are doing great. My chicks are 4 weeks old and I got them a pretty dog play pen and all the supplies. You gave such good ideas on chick care. I hope you come back. You have such a pretty chicken coop. There aren't enough videos of normal people and their pet chickens.

I enjoyed this video. I'm sorry about Sadie. I know how it hurts to lose a pet. I have a lovely white budgie girl named Whitey. She has cancer and I know I won't have her long. Trying to enjoy her. Oh my goodness I so enjoyed this video. They are lovely. I love your bathroom for raising the chicks. It's so pretty in there and they are pretty. Wow, next flock I need a Sweedish Flower Hen. She's like a fancy calico. Salmon Faverolle is my fave breed. Glad you got one. I kiss all my birds too. BTW, you can teach them their names by feeding them mealworms and saying the name when they take it. I have a video of my previous flock where I fed them by name and it was mostly civilized that way so they only ate when I called them.

Aww I loved this update. I know it was a few years ago but I loved seeing the chickens in the woods. And you've got nice gardens too. So nice how you painted the door. I hope you'll make more videos like this again. I love chickens.

Oh my goodness I am SO enjoying your channel. I started from the oldest videos and am working my way up. I'm loving this because I went through exactly what you are going through when I got into chickens back around 2010. I wonder if some of my old videos might be ones you watched. I LOVE My Pet Chicken. I have only ever ordered from them. I loved the whole 3 chick minimum no one else has, but yes chicken match happened and I never took advantage of that three chick minimum. I think it's so cool you live close to myer hatchery. I have wanted to order from them too but I think the minium with them was 15 which is way too much so I never have. I've had two flocks in the past and like you I want different breeds and colored eggs. I want friendly breed though my first two were Rhode Island Reds I bought from a local feed store. Big mistake on that. Although I got my beloved unforgetable Henrietta there. She sure was an insane bossy boots. Mean to the other girls. Demanding and loud with me. When contractors would come to the house they thought she was a rooster because she'd stand so tall and proud and watch them. I was with out chickens for several years after my second flock got old. But I missed them and my husband and I decided to jump in again. My goodness, I had never ordered with him before in the room. We had so much fun but with two chickens lovers the chicken math got out of control. Do they have Faverolles? Yes I know what page those are on. Oh add one. Ok. We ended up with nine birds. They are currently 3 weeks old now as of July 2022.

Hi, I have the same construction sand with the rocks in it that you have, but mine is SUPER dusty. I'm scared to put it in my chicken run because the entire yard may end up covered in a dust cloud. Was your sand super dusty when you first got it?

At what age were you able to use the playpen to brood your babies? Also to use the heat plate? I ordered some from the hatchery and was told the need a heat lamp at first. I have heat lamp and heat plate
