Hi Cheryl. Glad to see the little girls joining the big girls. There so cute. By the way, l don't remember how old your chickens were when they started to lay. Mine are 21wks now. Some have started the crouching thing. Started feeding them layer pellets but no oyster shells yet. Still haven't settled on a brand yet. Right now there on Modesto Milling but might change to what Justin Rhodes uses when this runs out, not sure yet. Loved the corn on the cob video.
Thanks, Suzy. I think this setup will work very well. Still have phase 2 to go...special accomodations on the roost so they can sleep together without mishaps!
Hello, Chickenlandia! I love the Faverolle, too. With her white beard, she reminds me of Santa Claus! The setup under the droppings board is the same as last year...we are working on a different setup for getting them on the roost bar with the big girls. That will be an upcoming video. Another great video. 👍🏼 My chickens are 10 weeks old. I spend so much time with them and they are still skittish. I just want them to hang out with me, lol lol, but seriously, ... the only way they’ll come to me is garden scraps. I got them the day after they hatched. We are 1st timers, (you can see my chickens on my video), do you have any tips on how to better socialize them? ❤️
Hi, Colleen. Congrats on your first baby chicks! It sounds like you are doing everything right to get them to hang out with you. I try to spend some time each evening with them as soon as they come home. After about 2 weeks I let them out in the room with me where I have my brooder. I let them acclimate to me at their own pace. I have a few on my flock that just want to be chickens and then I have some who like to crawl up in my lap to take a nap and have a good back rub. I love them all.
