Beautiful flock of birds, I especially like the Flower chicken. I have a integrated flock of older and younger birds and I use what I call my chicken switch to keep the bullying to a minimum. It's just a long thin twig that I use to tap the bullying hen on the back and it works really well. I was bullied as a child in school and I deplore it in people and animals. I've raised chickens the majority of my life and I will be 70 in January. I know all about the pecking order, but some chickens take that to a level above. I've managed to integrate pullets with 3 yr old hens and 6 week old chicks with 4 month old pullets without any bloody heads.
Aweeee, sweet girl! 💚 I have my very first broody hen ever. My sweet Gertie. She’s on broody day 4. (I made them frozen corn treats & forced her to come out for a bit.) I wasn’t sure what to do, lol. Great video, thanks for sharing!
I know what you mean. My girl seemed to be in a trance when I would bring her out. She would lay in the ground. I had to run her down to get her woke up. Then she was off to the races! I like the frozen corn idea! What kind of chicken is Gertie? Love the name.
Hi, Angie! I have a video to put out about a new broody girl. Opal my Orpington is now broody. And the molt has started. Not getting many eggs right now. I will get a video out soon.
My dorking is exactly like that, but shes a calm broody girl doesnt even make the complaining sound unless its toward another chicken. I got ayam cemani eggs under her.
This is the first time I've not used the broody breaker. Instead I'm trying to get her out if the nest a few times a day and let her run with the girls awhile. I'm not ready for more chicks yet. I feel I'm at capacity with our hectic schedules. But, I'm sure tempted to get some eggs next spring and let the girls hatch them out. That would be a great experience.

Are you going to let her hatch or put her in a broody breaker? My broody hen will have chicks in about a week!
