Here's a viewer recommendation that I'd like to give. The submerged castle from Pikmin 2. I have seen it talked about in a few places before, but it is one that is close to my heart. Environmentally it suffers the same fate that the rest of the caved in pikmin 2 suffer, but I'd say it makes up for this with its unique mechanic

If you liked the Fairfax Residence, you’ll love….like half of the levels in Ready Or Not. That game is basically SWAT 4 with about 5 times more horror levels

if we're going to talk about things in games that caused one to swear vengence against an entire concept, then Bomberman Hero's first level of it's egypt-like zone, the one that starts with the white bomber being trapped in a cage and the entire wall lined with pharaoh masks is the one that gave me both a fear of masks and things coming at or being too close to the screen in general.

I still find it odd that everyone figured Sheng Long must have been some mysterious super-opponent, given that "you must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance" implies this Sheng Long being a stepping stone on the path up to Ryu. If Sheng Long was truly Ryu's master or something else that would make him some kind of super-opponent, then he would have been saying the opposite, something like "you don't stand a chance against Sheng Long if you can't even defeat me."

Early Pokémon games def have some contenders. For instance, item duplication or this one weird evolution one. That being that certain Pokémon and certain items have the same index numbers… which includes evolutionary stones… so if you don’t have the stone you need to evolve a certain Pokémon you can just find whatever Pokémon matches that stone’s index number, have the Pokémon you want to evolve battle it, and then after the battle your Pokémon will be seen by the game as having interacted with that stone and will evolve. I know this for Gen 1 but unsure if it works in any other gens. Under the circumstances of their development, it’s actually a miracle the early Pokémon games function right at all ever!

Children of Taronne Tenement is even more unnerving than Fairfax. Also, there's a radio in Fairfax which shows one of the victim's mother crying out for her daughter. SWAT 4's environmental storytelling is unparalleled. Makes sense, as the devs did make BioShock.

You can drink vodka with the final boss in the Witcher 2 and not fight - truly slav game... In UnderRail you can solve chemical puzzle to poison and weaken the final boss. There's even site dedicated to that puzzle if you don't remember anything from your school. Fallout 2 final boss - just grab the keycard from the president and activate turrets, also can convinve nearby enemy squad to join you.

My favorite is Fallout 3's Winterized T-51b Power Armor. Due to a coding oversight that unofficial patches unfortunately fix that some players have implemented and provided ways from preventing just that from being patched. Every armor and weapon in the game has a condition value that degrades the more it is used unless repaired. This includes NPCs like the ones in the Operation Anchorage simulation, which are supposed to "not have condition values". Although in Gambryo that is not allowed. Instead, they just set the condition value to almost 10 million. The Power Armor is supposed to be the standard one which only has 1,000 condition. That one is unused officially. Instead, you get the simulation version, which is the same thing but with a condition value so high that you never need to repair it. When I finally got to play Fallout 3, I thought it was supposed to be like that. Nope! Coding error!

Kingdom Hearts 1 Wonderland is pretty confusing layout wise. It takes a while to figure out where leads where as it is non-Euclinian by design. I still say Argrabah's Cave of Wonders is the most confusing layout wise in Kingdom Hearts 1 as some areas look very similar to each other. Atlantica is just frustrating from control wise to what you expected to do progress and that damn shark always scares me because he just shows up whenever he feels like it. Lastly, you can miss a Trinity permanently in a playthrough if you progress through the point in Halloween Town where Oogy Boogy's place is destroyed. They did make exploring fun in Kingdom Hearts III after Kingdom Hearts II cut back on the somewhat convoluted exploring and somewhat unforgiving platforming from the first game making exploring more straightforward in Kingdom Hearts II.

I never used companions in Fallout 3, except Fawkes sometimes or scenarios where you have a temporary "companion". Due to how I play, I can never guarantee their safety. This is due to starting out stealthy before using methods of eliminating enemies as quickly as possible such as laying traps having grenades bounce around corners, and utilizing various means to cripple enemies. I also stockpile missles just in case unwanted Deathclaws or stubborn Super Mutants suddenly show up. In summary, it's Hitman first and then John Wick if my cover is blown.

When it comes to Uncharted, I have a feeling that the bunker section was put in simply because someone at Naughty Dog just got back from playing Halo CE and was like, "Yeah, we can do the Flood, too."

I finished playing Metro Last Light Redux and goddamn the parts of the game with the shadows and pre apocalypse flashbacks freaked the hell out of me and disturbed me immensely.

Speaking of Zelda, the underground sections in tears of thr kingdom are genuinely the most terrified I’ve been playing a Zelda game. And really most games in general that are actually meant to be horror DIDNT scare me as immediately as the first time I dropped underground. There are so many wells too 😭.

I'm not sure if anyone else has said this but the Gloom Spawn from Tears of the Kingdom is terrifying in the early game. You're just running around Hyrule minding your own business, then a puddle of gloom appears and hands with eyes pop up. Then they scream at you and chase after you faster than any of the other enemies in the game. They scared the shit out of me when I first encountered them. Of course they become super easy to deal with with bomb flowers or rubies and the mini boss that spawns when you kill them is pretty easy even without the Master Sword, but those first few hours when you don't have anything makes every encounter with them horrifying
