@@ladyheavdev I must have been around 10 or 11 years old when the game came out. I was watching my brother play and when he got to the nightmare sequence, it freaked me out so bad. Just the concept of following the trail of blood, listening for the sounds of your dead baby screaming to guide you. Not to mention the twisting corridor whose walls take on the texture of the baby's room. It just freaked me out really badly. Worst still is that the game allowed you to save anywhere and he accidentally saved as he was falling into the abyss so it was just a continuous loop of screaming and death lol. I couldn't sleep that night and was panicking pretty hard. I was trying to explain what had happened in the game my brother was playing but my dad, I guess, just grasped something about screaming babies. Anyway, dad starts yelling at my brother, I'm panicking upstairs in my room. There was a lot more to it but also, my parents were going through a divorce at the time, and our cat had just passed. (I havent seen my dad since the divorce lol)
I'm not sure if anyone else has said this but the Gloom Spawn from Tears of the Kingdom is terrifying in the early game. You're just running around Hyrule minding your own business, then a puddle of gloom appears and hands with eyes pop up. Then they scream at you and chase after you faster than any of the other enemies in the game. They scared the shit out of me when I first encountered them. Of course they become super easy to deal with with bomb flowers or rubies and the mini boss that spawns when you kill them is pretty easy even without the Master Sword, but those first few hours when you don't have anything makes every encounter with them horrifying
14:55 Lowlife is the first appearance of zombies in HL2: Episode 1, not Half Life 2. I understand the difference can be confusing but Episode 1 is a different game, the real first HL2 zombie appearance is Chapter 3: Route Canal 17:37: Technically we do know what happened to him, it just was never given a direct answer as originally in HL2 he was supposed to die shortly after due to fire or the zombies but was cut to my knowledge. As for Episode 4, the story plot by Arkane detailed we'd fight a mutated Father Grigori at the end, which would be ironic as he'd be our ally throughout the cut episode 4. 17:51: not real criticism but more a nitpick: Episode 4 was not going to be about Gordon or feature him as the protagonist, but rather the barely used Adrian Shepard from Half Life Opposing Force as the main protagonist the player would control. Episode 4 was also meant to be more of a side story than a mainline continuation.
The Cradle level of Black Ops 6 is quite the drastic tone change. Going from your standard action-movie-like fare to having weeping angel like mannequins, and several times you hear them walking up behind you first.
Oh, I so wish I could have suggested 7-1 from Super Paper Mario. Mario and Friends essentially die and go to Hell, and don't get me started on the River Twygz and the Underhands. It's fine enough on subsequent visits but it's certainly a lot for an E Rated Game.
I finished playing Metro Last Light Redux and goddamn the parts of the game with the shadows and pre apocalypse flashbacks freaked the hell out of me and disturbed me immensely.
When it comes to Uncharted, I have a feeling that the bunker section was put in simply because someone at Naughty Dog just got back from playing Halo CE and was like, "Yeah, we can do the Flood, too."
That Billy & Mandy game was one of my favorites as a kid! I completely forgot about Boogie’s major mojo though and I don’t remember if it scared me personally, but it’s really funny to look back at now.
The algorithm introduced me to your channel via video game myths that became a reality. Your videos are very fun to watch! Crazy that you only have 36k subscribers! With the quality of your videos you deserve much, much more!
I'd have to say the Old Chateau in Pokémon DPP or the Strange House in Pokémon B2/W2. Nowadays I just find them cool because I'm not really scared of much, but as a kid they sent chills up my spine, ESPECIALLY in the Old Chateau with the way the models of the characters glide across the screen with no animation. This goes for the X/Y ghost girl too. The lack of animation, comaored to everything else being so animated, really ups the creepy factor.
if we're going to talk about things in games that caused one to swear vengence against an entire concept, then Bomberman Hero's first level of it's egypt-like zone, the one that starts with the white bomber being trapped in a cage and the entire wall lined with pharaoh masks is the one that gave me both a fear of masks and things coming at or being too close to the screen in general.
If you liked the Fairfax Residence, you’ll love….like half of the levels in Ready Or Not. That game is basically SWAT 4 with about 5 times more horror levels
Children of Taronne Tenement is even more unnerving than Fairfax. Also, there's a radio in Fairfax which shows one of the victim's mother crying out for her daughter. SWAT 4's environmental storytelling is unparalleled. Makes sense, as the devs did make BioShock.
Here's a viewer recommendation that I'd like to give. The submerged castle from Pikmin 2. I have seen it talked about in a few places before, but it is one that is close to my heart. Environmentally it suffers the same fate that the rest of the caved in pikmin 2 suffer, but I'd say it makes up for this with its unique mechanic
Arkane Studios (same guys that made Dishonored) were planning to make an Episode 4 where you played as Adrian Shepard again but in Ravenholm. But C-Shift did mess up in saying that Chapter 3 of HL2 was Lowlife (it's HL2:EP1's third chapter) instead of Route Canal.
Speaking of Zelda, the underground sections in tears of thr kingdom are genuinely the most terrified I’ve been playing a Zelda game. And really most games in general that are actually meant to be horror DIDNT scare me as immediately as the first time I dropped underground. There are so many wells too 😭.
The uncharted 1 section caught me off guard, i was not a "horror games" player, tottaly shit myself. PS: watching your vídeos inspire myself to try make content, i Just dont have time, yet. Great work, love your work
Brain: _Horror in Non Horror, Max Payne on the Thumbnail, garuentee to trigger the nightmares from when you were 6 again..._ Me: Ima watch it. It's C-Shift. Brain: _Ffs-_
ive never played Half-Life, but i HAVE heard the fanfic story "Full-Life Consequences"...even so, im well-aware that We Don't Go to Ravenholdm...especially if the sign has some on's writing on it that says "u shudnt come here"...
Just starting the video, but the end of the first uncharted genuinely freaked me out as a kid, let's see if you covered it! Edit: I see you covered it, nice
5:44 The fourth game did but the first game is not the only one with supernatural elemens 2 has a magical tree which grants immortality to the main villain and 3 has the djinn fast as shit normal soliders with fire for heads who explode when killed
If you ever end up doing a third one of these, there's actually another mission in SWAT 4 that's even creepier, the Children of Taronne Tenement. No spoilers, but it's messed up.
If I was Alan Moore I would despise too movies made about my amazing, revolutionary and deep work that remove all the deepness, amazingness (is it even a real word?) and revolution from my deep amazing revolutionary work. I'd straight up castrate myself to death watching who watches Watchmen because by watching who watches Watchmen by Zach Snyder they force me to do the same AND I DON'T WANT TO DO IT.
C-Shift always knows how to find my c-spot
mmmfgh
The Max Payne nightmares freaked me out so bad as a kid, it lead to a huge meltdown involving the entire family, lol.
Max Payne a noir horror story followed by a not so noir organized crime horror story
Explain?

@syntheticcelery34 Oh geez its the Angela anaconda digimon movies story all over again.
Well I hope you're doing ok regardless.
I know Arkham Asylum has the Scarecrow hallucinations, but I've always considered the Killer Croc level to be far more scarier.
same. and in arkham city, wonder city always creeped me out lol
I remember I played it as a kid the year it came out, and I had to get my aunt to beat that part for me because it freaked me out so bad lol
19:36 Uh, James Gunn didn't invent Coolsville. Coolsville first appeared in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.
who cares how late into November this is, I'd take it any day over a Christmas themed video
We'll get a Christmas video in, like, February probably
Fr I hate when people make great horror-themed videos but only do so in October
that boogie reference came out of nowhere LOL genius writing in this channel
Spooky season is more of a lifestyle than a season for some of us, anyway 😂

Me: Don't worry about it. Wasn't planning on it.
Ravenholm
"He is a self-described Anarchist" You could just say he's an Anarchist lol

However, I think that the horror elements are offset once 115 starts playing

Yo C-Shift. These vid are what we all wished hellomojo. Quality asf. If it’s once a month, that’s what it takes. We all agree it’s worth the wait
C-Shift is back, with all the punctuality of a sleep-deprived ADHDer! How do I know what a sleep-deprived ADHDer's punctuality is like?
I am one.
I think late Halloween videos help offset the early Christmas rollouts everywhere else. Good content, bro! o7
Got so happy just now seeing this upload lol. Love watching your videos before bed. You're wicked underrated.

Volume 3 should include Piglets Big Game.
The scariest part of Max Paine is how much time I wasted trying to make that stupid train jump in the ps4 release
Just when I thought I was out....they PULL me back IN!
when i was a kid my gym's daycare had escape the coolsonian. i heard that scream almost every week for years.
Having forgotten about it, seeing the words Fairfax Residence sent chills down my spine as I remembered that goddamn level
Here's another potential entry for this series in the future:
The random jumpscares that could occur in IDARB
You know, the Ravenholm never had as much freakout factor for me as some sections of the Route Kanal at the beginning of the game
When it comes to Uncharted, I have a feeling that the bunker section was put in simply because someone at Naughty Dog just got back from playing Halo CE and was like, "Yeah, we can do the Flood, too."

Absolutely loved the video! I am surprised you missed Piglets big game, it is almost the epitome of horror in a non-horror game.

Ah yes C-Shift, the long anticipated Half-Life Episode 4.
I think that section needed a bit more proofreading.
It's okay, Valve can't count to 3 either.

Its interesting to see Naughty Dog lay the groundwork for the last of us allllll the way back in uncharted
