Skills & Drills || Which Drift is Bad?
มุมมอง 3.2Kวันที่ผ่านมา
#pwba #bowlingballreviews #brunswickbowling #hammerbowling #skillsanddrills Do you drift a significant amount into your swing/ball path or away from it? Is one better than the other? The short answer is yes, drifting away from your swing is better than walking INTO it. The reason you might be drifting into your swing is because you may targeting too many boards away from where you’re standing. ...

Are Bowling Balls Marketed Wrong? Hammer Bowling | Pure Envy | Black Widow 3.0 | Anger | Raw
มุมมอง 6Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Are bowling balls marketed wrong? The answer is, no. The real question is do you know how to use them! The most expensive/strongest bowling balls do hook more than the less expensive/weaker balls. It's how you use them and how you see ball motion from the front of the lane to the back, versus left to right. Check this video out to see if you are using your arsenal to its full potential and see ...

Brunswick PERFECT Mindset vs. INTENSE Mindset
My low flare works better with 1500 surface.
Hybrids are a go to for me. On house shots I typically can't really throw solids and the pearls turn a tiny bit too late. I really lean on hybrids that will turn a little earlier and still shape off the back of the pattern. Great video!
👍👍👍👍
Like the details
Val, I tried to comment on your latest Sym comparison. Wasn’t able to do so! I loved it. I love the comparison videos. Loved it on drier lanes. Same thing using Asyms. The covers finish makes a difference as u know. Keep up the great videos. Whenever I watch your videos I think of the time that you signed my PWBA program. It was Cleveland I think. People don’t realize that the smallest thing they do could make a memory for someone. You did that for me! Thanks Merry Christmas!
謝謝😀
That troublemaker gives me problems when the heads start drying up and it just dont hold the line. I have to keep moving left or use a cleaner piece like the scorpion strike.
A video on how you change your release for more or less tilt would be useful. I'm looking forward to that.
Great videos!! How about a comparison of each Brunswick brand heavy oil piece, i.e. Criterion, Pure Envy, Mesmerize, etc.?
Landed on the Track Stealth Hybrid, and that ball is the first out of the bag for me now. I know exactly what it’s going to do especially when it transitions. Such a great piece.
I love hybrids but I 2nd that they are not the same. Widow 2.0 & Defender hit different. Hazmat/Vibe/Low Flair/ Raw all hit different granted different strengths but are still great. 3 of 5 of my arsenal are hybrid.
It depends what's the surface finish. Of course the smaller the number the abralon finish, the earlier it hooks. Also it depends on the mapping layout and the PAP of the individuals since all of us do not have the same PAP. RG & Diff would be used as guidance along with ideal but still, it depends on the surface finish, our style of play and the mapping layout. Hybrid also varies depending on the surface like some comes with polish and some look sanded. Hence of course like you showed here, sanded tends to have earlier backend compared to polished.
Can you do compare of solid, hybrid and synthetic... which one is good for any lanes
What about plastic versus reactive resin. Same steps and marks
If you had a real strong ball stood 34 wouldn’t throwing it up 10 be crazy or ok because ball is so strong?
I really want the anger, but have heard it's stronger than the artic vibe, but had to sell the black widow 3.0 because it was just too strong
Nice pants
When would you use each? I mean what oil pattern/oil conditions? I have both aswell and i love them, honestly your videos made me get these two balls 😁... Now i am just trying to understand when os better to use them.. so far i notice that when Urethane is being or has been played, the scorpion strike leavse me many corner pins, so in that situation I use the scorpion strike.. but i nothe that the vaporize is very versatile on fresh, transition and maye a late transition/early dry just weaking my wrist a bit. Same gor the scorpion strike but i said, the only difference i see for my self is the performance on carry down.. i would appreciate so much your insights and advice, as maybe i don't need to bring both in my 3 balls bag and i could bring something else like the scorpion low flare instead
Wow’ this is a few days late’ but Monday I was told by a teammate I was drifting. I said no way’ lol I mean I look where my foot is and walk straight, but the last step was not straight. So I need to work on this. Great video and I have you on subscribe and bell on from here . Thank you
Excellent video Valerie, I discovered what I'm doing wrong. My target is too far to the right from where I'm standing. For example, last week in league I was standing on 30 and targeting 10. I ended up sliding on 20. If I stand on 30, should I be looking at 20? I don't have the revs to bring the ball back shooting 20. That's what I love about this game, you're always learning. Thanks so much for all your hard work. Your videos are so good. I loved the spares videos with Dasha too.
Yes, always learning- I feel the same way. Thanks for the comment and support! I would say move your feet to 20, look at 10, and intentionally try to walk straight vs right. If you have to make adjustments (if the ball is over-hooking), make parallel moves to the left!
Liked this video. Using the Robbys rev3 to help with wrist issue hut also help me stay behind the ball. Bad habit of coming over the top of ball and booking to left bad
What a coincidence! I mentioned in another comment about keeping the left arm out in front. And then today Brad & Kyle (Brad) puts out an instructional video on that topic today. He didn't talk about drifting though. Thanks again for your great content.
Interesting! Thanks for the comment!
Good video @bowlwithVALue! When bowlers watch ball reviews videos and the content creator states they are standing on so and so board that has no value. It's where they slide and that's what the video should state IMO. That's of value. Of course bowlers stats come into play. The other thing many see is house bowlers walking/drifting right if a rightie many boards and having a tug built into their swing and use the massive puddle to hold their ball into the pattern.
Thank you! Makes sense. I agree with where one slides actually matters the most
Great teaching vid. I've been going back and forth between getting a Mesmerize and a Effect Tour. I've been wanting to get something strong & smooth, don't have anything that will fit that bill right now. If you can find the time, I'd appreciate a video comparison.
Thanks for your comment! I don't have the effect Tour, but I'll order it and go compare the 2 after the holiday.
@@bowlwithVALue Thanks, that's why you're my hero!
Ooooo 😍, I have that ball on the way!! 😵💫!!
It's a good one :)
Great job! I find out a lot of people don't practice walking straight or consistent if not straight. I had a lot of variability in my drift until a coach pointed it out. I was driving myself nuts thinking I was hitting the same spot but not understanding the difference in breakpoint until it was explained to me. I was given some easy drills to do at home and at the center and I was able to get consistent with my drift.
makes sense!! So interesting.....feels better when you're more consistent with your approach, right?
I have tried to walk nearly straight and not have any drift. Should I get away from that? What drills would you recommend?
I think walking straight is a good thing! Drifting into your swing, not so much.
謝謝🙏
thank you!
Valerie can I please send you one of my bowling videos so you can see what im doing wrong with my release.
Great video, it definitely helped me because I drifted right and now I know it was because I was looking at a target to far right of where I was standing. The low camera angle of your feet was so helpful. Thanks Valerie!😊
So glad it's been helpful!! thanks for the comment.
Just type your notes in the comments.
I have the same problem of drifting more when my target arrow is farther from where I'm standing. So I tend to try to keep my angles tight and play somewhere between boards 17-21 (with my foot) aiming at between boards 10 to 14 . It doesn't always work. For example, in game 4 of league last Wednesday, I hit the pocket in most frames, but only managed three strikes. I think I need to get more comfortable with opening up the angle (when necessary).
@@bhartissimo that makes a lot of sense! Trajectory matters. I actually just recorded a video on that 😏🤓
Another nice instructional video. I am a little confused about drifting less left with target more in front of you and will have to go back and look at that again. I have a bad habit of drifting right. I think that is one of two things that are primary problems for me. The other is not keeping my left arm out in front of me. After watching some video of myself and watching some other instructional videos on YT, I have made an effort to keep my left arm and shoulder more in front throughout the approach, and this seems to have reduced my tendency to drift to the right.
@@rayjayks that’s interesting about the left arm. I’m sorry that was confusing! I tend to walk straighter the more “closed” my angles are, except if I’m try to play outside of 5 😬 my drift can be 5+ boards left when I’m out there. Maybe a video for another time!
Yes it seems on the rare occasions that I’m way right keeping the angles in front I don’t drift. I seem to drift the angle I shoot.
To have drift for less than 5 boards is normal. More than that, it'll be an issue for the launch angle and targeting. Mine in my recent games, I drift to my right and it was a massive drift, led me to have a smaller launch angle or my shot went inside instead of straight up to the target that led me to miss my target
@@adrianchan5568 yes makes sense. A couple boards into your swing might not be too worrisome, but IMO any drift right into the swing is bad, especially for what you’re talking about- opening angles.
@bowlwithVALue true, if we drift on the left, it opens up the angle but when drift on the right, it'll close the angle
How do I eliminate a big drift?
@@ToniEpplett which way?? Are you right handed?
@@bowlwithVALue yes I am right handed. I drift to the right
That was great ms lady....I stand on 23 24 and go between 10 and 15 board.. but I try to walk toward my target...don't know if that's a good or bad thing...
@@badknees82 might be too big of a spread if you’re drifting right! I wonder if you stand on 20 and look at 10, if you drift/walk as much right!
Ok ill try this tonite@@bowlwithVALue
I'm jeff do you drive with your black flats touching the gas p
Interesting, I changed my 2nd step in my 5 step approach so that it is in front of my first step (So I can clear the path for my swing). Now this caused me to drift about 4 boards to the right. You would think this would cause me to drift more to the left. It totally messed up my targeting and launch angles. My foot slides at about a 20 degree angle to the right so that might make my drift a little less than I think.
@@scotthoward6070 that is interesting!! The crossover step is very popular right now. I’ve tried it and suppose I do it on occasion, but my timing is actually too late for it to matter 🤭🙃 If you’re targeting pretty far right of where you’re standing, that might also be why your foot is sliding at that angle. Might not be a bad thing!
Thank you for your tips
@@dalewilliams6440 thank you for your support!
Thank that's the furthest I can get the ball up and maintaining control😂
Thank you, you're refreshing. You're of similar likeness and it's easier to relate more with your ball reviews and conparisons, from a female stand point...
Great vids thanks
Excellent video, thank you. Your videos are super helpful. I would like to see a video on how to stop drifting. I'm right handed and I drift 10 boards to the right. Thanks for all your hard work putting these videos together.
thanks so much! these comments keep me going :) That's a GREAT topic! I will plan for it. thanks!
Your california Vocal Fry accent thingie is really strong.
lol I have no idea what that means. I'm Canadian and have lived in NE, RI, NH, and MI. Thanks for the comment!
@bowlwithVALue despite your vocal fry, this video was quite helpful 🎳👍🏻🤣
3-6-9 all day baby! I love it. Once I figured that out and stopped trying to always shoot straight vertically, my average shot up almost overnight. It is the zone you start in that dictates it all, and then your aiming point. 2-4-6 also works if 3-6-9 is too big of a gap between the zones. It is also important to understand where to look, and it depends on what you throw as a strike shot, NOT with your strike ball, but with your spare ball (or whatever ball you use for spares if it isn't plastic). I also find speed is not your friend, take your time on your spares. If you have a shot routine, it is super important to do it here. Slow yourself down and then bowl. Positive affirmations also help. You have to tell yourself before every spare that "I will get this". If you let the negative set in at any point, it will show in the spare shot you take down lane.
Struggling with a 3 step approach in front of the ball return. Ethan Fiore is great at this. I always feel I'm a bit early and not very athletic. If you can get a 2 hander here and cover these drills again, it would be amazing 🎉❤
ahhhh, yes, 2 handed bowling....that's most definitely not an area of expertise (yet? lol). I'll see what I can plan!! thanks for the comment.
I need to start going drills instead of getting in full approach becsuse ive been stuck my average did go up but now im stuck it never goes higher. I did start doing drills for a whole game but i always reverted back 😢 thank you, i appreciate you. Time goes into these videos and you have helped.
They're a "necessarily evil" ...so helpful and yet so mundane sometimes. Thanks for your continued support Steph!!
My bowling alley doesn't have a line on the approach. They don't even have any pins. They use empty beer bottles. 😂
lolllll
What did the track show?
on the shot I spun? -- the track travels further away from fingers/thumb the more you tilt/spin in. The more you stay behind it, the closer the track is to fingers/thumb, and the more of the circumference of the bowling ball you use -- here's where I explain it a little more: th-cam.com/video/pDRYr42gP1E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=h7Ly6JZL2XlOwR45
👍👍👍👍
When you are doing this drill, what is your focus point to hit each time?
great question! I almost always target the arrows but sometimes when I'm trying to lay the ball down earlier or slow my speed, I'll target closer to the dots.
