    3-6-9 all day baby! I love it. Once I figured that out and stopped trying to always shoot straight vertically, my average shot up almost overnight. It is the zone you start in that dictates it all, and then your aiming point. 2-4-6 also works if 3-6-9 is too big of a gap between the zones. It is also important to understand where to look, and it depends on what you throw as a strike shot, NOT with your strike ball, but with your spare ball (or whatever ball you use for spares if it isn't plastic). I also find speed is not your friend, take your time on your spares. If you have a shot routine, it is super important to do it here. Slow yourself down and then bowl. Positive affirmations also help. You have to tell yourself before every spare that "I will get this". If you let the negative set in at any point, it will show in the spare shot you take down lane.

      yes, Dasha's vizaball hooked on some patterns, so she drilled up a plastic t-zone. It's supposed to go MUCH straighter on most patterns, but I'm sure with a little rotation/tilt, you could get the plastic to hook some.

    Thanks for the drills at the end! There is one that I use with the kids and they like it a lot. I bring flash cards numbered 1-10 and they have to shoot the pin that comes up. I weight the odds by having more 4,6,7, and 10s. I also have a few Xs for strike shots to keep them on their toes and let them throw at the pocket every once in a while.

    Do you line up with the inside of your left foot just covering the board. Do you stand on 16 for 4 pin and 19 for 2 pin?
    Part 2 video on multi pin spares and splits? What is your strategy for shooting the bucket and 3-6-9-10? Thanks!

      yes, exactly - I line up with the inside of my left foot on the board I mention. I stand 17 for my 4 pin and 19 for my 2 pin! my strategy for left side spares is slightly different than Dasha's.
      And yes, we thought about the fact that we didn't touch on multi-pin spares at all after we wrapped up, haha. We will be doing a part 2 for sure :)

      oh funny! I probably would do the same at first then try to re-program myself to line up with my right foot since that's a more accurate indicator of where I would be sliding.

    Great video Valerie and Dasha. Valerie, you stand on 30 to throw your 10 pin. Are you sliding on 30 when you release your ball? My problem is I have about a 10 board drift to the right. It makes it a challenge when shooting the 10 pin.

    Thanks for the video. I'm relatively new to bowling, having only started four months ago. After watching another video on TH-cam, I've been using a spare system similar to yours. I start with my left on board 27, aiming through the middle arrow for pin 1 or 5. And I move left three boards for pin 3,; another thee boards for pin 6, and another three boards for pin 10; moving three boards right from the starting position for pin 2, another three right for pin 4 and another three right for pin 7. As long as I can hit the middle arrow, I can make those spares. The problem I have is when I need to shoot pins 8 or 9. I have no idea how to line up to shoot through the middle arrow for those pins. So I've been shooting those two straight down the lane.

      I love this comment. Great job on developing that spare system! I'm happy it works for you. I actually shoot my 9 pin from the exact same spot/alignment as the 3 pin and the 8 pin from the exact same spot as the 2 pin. Have you tried that?

    Great vid, thank you!
    Two questions, please:
    1. Most plastic ball spare systems start with locating the corner pin alignment, using the 20 board as the visual target, and then adjust inward off that. You did the opposite, locating the 1/5 alignment and target and moving outward. Is there a reason you prefer inside to outside, rather than outside to inside?
    2. We know that the whole point of using plastic, or a Storm Mix, or a Hammer Axe, or rubber (thanks, Walter!), is to take the lane out of plat by using a ball that usually does not hook.
    So what about alignment for double wood, buckets and washouts? Should we still use the roughly three board increments and experiment adding or subtracting a board? Does the alignment change (open versus closed) in these situations, and if so, how?
    Thank you

    • @bowlwithVALue
      @bowlwithVALue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great statements and questions!
      I personally built my spare system off of the corner pins and middle arrow, but Dasha prefers to teach it the opposite way. I think they're both effective and will likely require personal tweaks!
      I agree that plastic and like-plastic balls are there to go straight and take the lane out of play. For double wood, we both use our strike balls and adjust off of our strike shots to make those spares. We will have a follow up video on these and other multi-pin spares when Dasha gets back from the last couple PWBA stops!

    Crazy question, but I bought the Brunswick Bionic Positioner XF bowling glove, and I can not hold the ball easily to save my life. Lol. The ball just wants to slide off of my fingers and thumb. Is there a trick to using those gloves? I was trying it for help with the damage that I had caused to my wrist while bowling. I have carpal and radial tunnel, too, and neuropathy in my hand, so pressing my thumb into the ball to try to grip it from falling causes my thumb to feel asleep. I'm wondering if I should give up and return it since I can't roll the ball with it. It just falls off and right into the gutter by the foul line. Lol. Thanks for a great video, Valerie and Dasha!

    • @bowlwithVALue
      @bowlwithVALue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh gosh, I'm so sorry you're experiencing this @GrumpaBaggins. I had a similar experience when I first started using a wrist brace a few years ago -- my span was too long for it. I had to reduce my span by about 1/4" to get my hand to fit comfortably with the glove and not cause pain/tingling/numbness. Perhaps start there? The glove should be more helpful for you and help you hold onto it vs be more of a hindrance, IMO.

    If I have a little eye dominancy and if I look 20, I'm actually hitting more like 23, should I look 17 or 18 to actually hit 20 for this system?

    • @bowlwithVALue
      @bowlwithVALue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting! Yes, you could definitely move your eyes to the right in order to hit as close to 20 as possible. I am left eye dominant and tend to hit left of what I'm looking at.

  • @hazalmohammed

    Thanks for this video. Started shooting single pin spares with plastic since hooking on a fresh pattern isn’t reliable. I’ll have to try the system in this video. I’m figuring this out by myself and settled on standing on 20 to shoot left pins and standing on 35 to shoot right pins. Still hooking at spares with more than two pins, but I feel that a faster plastic ball could handle multi-pin spares. Not there yet in my game.
    Quick question. It looked like both you and Dasha drifted to 20 when shooting your left pin spares but remained straight when shooting your right pin spares. Was the drift intentional? Thanks again for the system.

    • @bowlwithVALue
      @bowlwithVALue  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like that's working for you!
      that's a funny observation. Dasha usually doesn't drift at all....I usually drift at least 3 boards to the left. For my left side spares, I probably drift 5 boards though, so that would make sense -- stand on 15, slide on 20 (for my 7 pin). I don't think it's intentional as much as walking toward the pin and positioning our body to face the pin likely encourages a drift left.

    • @hazalmohammed
      @hazalmohammed 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@bowlwithVALue It was strange because for the right pin spares, you walk straight to the foul line. But for the left pin spares, both you and Dasha drifted to 20. So I wasn’t really sure if that was habit or if you’re supposed to do that since I walk straight for both types of spares.
      Should you also drift when angles are too open? Just curious why there was drift for one side versus the other since opening/closing your body should help with aiming. At least it does for me when I shoot spares with plastic. Thanks.

    • @bowlwithVALue
      @bowlwithVALue  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes those are valid questions. Honestly, it could be a coincidence for us. Usually I drift only a couple left if I'm sliding left of 30 but I'll drift upwards of 5 boards if I'm sliding right of 15 (on my strike shot) lol I think it's a perception thing.
