DISCOVERY 3 ENGINE REPLACEMENT,PARTS BOUGHT
Its actually quite easy, Just did mine in a little under 1 hour.
@@Physics072 as in rebuilt the diff or pulled the diff rebuilt it and put it back in ?
Great video, I just replaced the clutch on my RC Colorado, the pedal still releases right at the top and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment?.
@murrayhepple7027 that's alright there is no adjustment on them as there hydraulic operated Maybe slap some new clutch fluid in while you have it innthe shed
Interested to hear how much oil it collects. Probably quite bit?
@scottguy5452 morning it was collecting roughly 30mm every 1000kms
When U pull slave cylinder of what do after pull 2 bolts out I can't get rod thing out bracket thing goes into gearbox
How about the axle nut the size it is?
Do you still use this trailer? How has it held up today since you posted this video three years ago? Would you purchase this trailer again?
@paulp364 hey Paul sold the trailer for a drive way and carport for our new house Trailer held up fine after I fixed everything myself in the end haha
Thank you im going to attempt mine, out of interest how often do you do an oil change, i just do light road travelling??
i have a 2009 y61 4.8 mechanic , do you know if the diff from the automatic transmission is bigger than the mechanic? or are they the same ?
@jaimegomez2292 not 100% sure sorry mate I'm guessing would be the same Paint pen the pinion and rotate the axel / wheel and so how many times the pinion rotates for one revolution of the axel if it matches up between the diffs then the ratios with be the same
Good work, this really helped my son and myself to do my Colorado, I hope you can help me with a new problem…. when I shift into first the reverse lights fuse blows , ??!
Hmm not to sure where the reverse sensor is but maybe have a look while to gearsticj boot is off for any harness that it may make contact with when shifting into first possibly 🤔
@ thanks for responding, yes they are all good, both sensors are new too , we thought it might be the trailer plug patch loom…. which turned out to be a 7 pin , I’ll keep checking , I’ve used over 20 fuses checking so far haha
Двигатель приподнять и будет супер
Great video - many thanks for this , its been really helpful
Is that a diesel?
@@mykalrodriguez4304 morning correct that's a diesel
Where did you order the intercooler? What brand it is?
@zakizaki6099 🤣 thought the big PDI logo would of given it away. I didn't buy it myself but pretty sure he got it though ppd in Perth and as above its a pdi intercooler
Great Video, my confidence is up and I'm ready to do this service. Thank you
You’ve got the patience of a saint, geez I wouldn’t go that route, myself and a handful of from a friend and we can have the body of in an hour and a quarter, done so many now, but hey well done sir
@dereklee3850 yeah body off is definetly the go haha unfortunately didn't have much choice 😅 drive a toyota now that's how if fixed that landrover innthe end hahah
Hi. Did you do any work with the fenders? I have an xtrail nt30 as well and would like to put on the 225 75 15 tyres. Not sure if it would fit unless I widen the fenders. And can 215 80 15 work on the nt30?
Christian and Vera go through all the gears I think. Is that unnecessary?
@scottguy5452 doesn't hurt to do it, it just makes sure all gears are bleed through However I've never noticed a difference in the oil level changing when doing so so flick into drive neutral and reverse is enough in my opinion
@@OUTBACKDiscovery thanks. Certainly makes the job easier if you don’t have to do that
Thanks for that i wondering about the collapsible spacer I sum how thought it would be a bit of a problem before I do the job on mine and I will be doing the Rear Diff after that
Your cheap bearings could have gone bad quickly because you didn’t torque the axle nut properly.
@joemilton1010 yeah high possibility torqued these in the end can't remember the spec but someone else posted a few years back like 2 days after posting the video stating the same thing 🍻
How do you know what line goes into what connector on the new filter mate? I’m guessing it matters?
@chrisgoodwill3818 take a photo of the old one before you pull it off If it's original there's a little coloured template that sits ontop otherwise you take a photo and match it up to the old one if that makes sense
@@OUTBACKDiscovery thanks buddy, doing mine later this week. It’s developed a big fuel leak randomly so going to give it a good overhaul to find it so may as well change it at the same time
Hey, question. How about if engine seized so cant rotate engine for torque converter bolts?
Honestly if I done it all again I'd pull trans with engine and deal with it on the floor
great video man. but I'm just wondering what engine you are running. I know is a Isuzu D-Max year 2021. but is it RZ4E or 4JJ3 ?
Sorry about the late reply it has the 4jj3 in it
@@OUTBACKDiscovery thanks man. mine also has the same transmission. I think most of the Isuzu D-max within these generation uses the same transmission. mine is the RZ4E engine with the 2nd generation facelift model.
Did the same but the tool I used was a couple bucks from Amazon denso clutch compressor clutch removal tool, not JLR like a socket with a few nipples and a hole in the center. ac repair in February used ac all summer no issues!
Great video!
@CalCarlotto nice I had no luck trying to find a tool that wasn't $250 or more so got creative would of much preferred to buy one haha
Hey mate any photos on how the resys mount up having trouble cheers
@@KodyClarkson hey kody I don't sorry I done a other dmax after this one and they changed the mounting position to ontop of the chassis on front of the strut tower was a weird setup
What you use to stop that brake line from dripping, you going to fast lol
After you crimped it, but coming from the front to the back?
@@clivecarr2352 🤣 just blakeline pliers They look like scissors but are plastic and have a band that holds them closed
Morning it's just sleeves out of my bush removal kit If you google that on ebay you should see it pop up pretty quickly
hey mate nice video, what press plates/spacers were you using here?
Great video! Very detail oriented and simple. I have a question, i have had my 06 LR3 for almost 4 years now and I drive it in manual/sport mode because if you drive it in drive when it shifts from 4th to 5th it slips/jerks pretty good like there is a delay in shifting. In manual mode it wont do it as long as you let off the gas between the shift. When it does happen in sport mode, it will go from 4th and jump into 6th and you cant shift back down for around 7 seconds, after 7 seconds goes by you can then shift back down to a lower gear. I have no clue what is causing the slipping but it has not got any worse in the 4 years I've had the vehicle. I was thinking about maybe hooking it up to the GAP tool and resetting the shift adaptations but im nervous about doing that. I've heard some people do it with success and others say its a no no...🤷♂️ Any ideas??
I dont think just resetting adaptations will do anything for you. Go search ZF6HP26 transmission and you will find the answer. Most likely bridge seals, tube seals, oil and filter. If I was you, I would spend the extra money and do solenoids and zip kit whilst your in there. Once you've done all that, you can reset adaptations and do a relearn procedure. This solves 90% of these transmissions problems. If you still have problems after that, it's transmission rebuild time.
Just had a new clutch kit put in my rodeo mechanic did not machine flywheel now tends to slip in 3rd and 4th gear would this be the flywheel also has a terrible rattle when clutch is released 😳
@jarredStanton-ed1iu I'd be taking it back mate and getting it sorted Rattle could be a worn thrust bearing slipping in gear after a new clutch definetly warrants taking it back
You can stop the pulley turning by using an oil filter tool (the sort that has a metal band that can be tightened around the filter). It works better if you brace the bolt with a socket (1/4 AF is a better fit than 7mm) and turn the pulley with the tool, if you see what I mean.
I think manufacturers of land rover from discovery 3 were planless removing engine someone has to go through all this shit
Appreciate the video mate. Wondering what attachment you used to pull the spigot bearing? Looked like something on a slide hammer? Also taking your advice on the transmission jack, I was going to try without one
@CaptainBlackbeard-hx4st hey dude it's just a internal bearing puller kit off ebay all the attachments came with it aswell as the sliding hammer section If u search inter bearing puller you will see what I mean also if your in Australia repco and supercheap will sell them
this really worries me I wouldn’t be able to fix all the things you have had to fix. I wonder if the Qld manufacturers are just as bad. i so want an opus lite as it’s all i can afford and also my car only tows 2000
G'day mate, Awesome work on the tranny, which icarsoft version do you use?
@@LightSound369 thanks mate that's the v2 think there's the v3 now
@@OUTBACKDiscovery cheers for replying cobber
If fuel economy is what your concerned about driving an SUV probably isn't a idea
@kipkipper-lg9vl if your not concerned about making your engine run efficiently and maintaining it correctly you shouldn't own any car 🍻
@@OUTBACKDiscovery even a perfectly running suv gets like what 20 mpg on a good day, a standard sedan 4 cylinder will easily do 45 50 easy, what's your point
@kipkipper-lg9vl my point is its a basic maintenance routine that should be done on any vehicle that helps any car with a map sensor perform better helps with a quicker response and helps your engine run more efficiently Clearly you didn't understand the point of this video
@@OUTBACKDiscovery i did cus i watched it, my comment was not directly related to the video but adjacent to the topic which is not a criminal offense i think
@kipkipper-lg9vl your comment isn't criminal but still using imperial as a form of measurement is 😉🤣 need to join the dark side and switch over to the metric system like the rest of the world
The T30 was the last of the really good soft roaders IMHO. I always loved the way you could select "Lock" if you saw a boggy section coming up. Far better than many AWD systems which wait for traction loss to engage. In a car with limited clearance, too little too late as you could be bottomed out before it cut in, if you were in soft sand.
@xasperations they need to bring back the low range 4wds again like make the Suzuki vitara a proper low range 4wd again I miss seeing all the soft roaders and little low range nuggets out of the tracks
hello Jri saw your videos and I started to change the differential turnover I did exactly the same thing for the preloading of the bearing is your differential.
@custom13monky41 morning I'm guessing your asking how the diff is going ? If so I done 40,000 km in it with no issues before it got written off in a car crash
Which temperature you check level? I heard 36 degrees? Is it F or C? In some other movies I heard 60 degrees.
@tolekcacek9919 morning its 30-50 degrees Celsius I aim for 40 degrees Celsius I just go off the manual with all my videos so I don't get told off on here for it not being the actual spec haha
@@OUTBACKDiscovery Thank You for Your reply, a meant videos of other TH-camrs not yours. of course. Looking forvard for other videos with D-max, cheers. :)
Hi buddy good job. can you give information about your suspebsion please, where i can get this with coils
@nadirgafarov81 morning there just the kings heavy duty 100kg constant fronts, and dobinsons special order 600kg constants in the rear part number for rear coils is c51-137 And pedder struts but there horrible and not as good as the factory ones
Hi i emailed you regarding the manual 😢
Hey bro. Do the crankcase when you install need to use gasket?
MAP sensor= Manifold Absolute Pressure
Could have explained how they are activated and work.
Hey Ryan heaps of videos online explaining the operation of them was trying to keep this video more based on the install itself and at the time there wasn't many on that side of things
Great job without lifting the car ..What tyres are you using please
@gizzmo667 morning I'm pretty sure they are just a 265 70 17
@@OUTBACKDiscovery what is the manufacture of your tyres
@@gizzmo667 there bfg ko2 265 70 18 on factory 18 inch discovery 3 wheels powder coated black
Where can i purchase this?
Hi, now about to do this to mine. Which section of the manual did you print to describe how to remove the engine?
Hey mate email me and I'll flick it through
@@OUTBACKDiscovery where do I find your email address?
@@Wisenham-Junction Ryan.outbackdiscovery@outlook.com
Hey Ryan, about to do a major refurb on my 320K km 2.7L D3. Just watched this again in preparation. Thank you so much for taking the time to produce these, extremely helpful especially the detail around the starter remove/ install. Doing the gearbox and rear main seal so I have now after watching this I have decided to remove the front diff to access the ac compressor (to access the timing pin). Bloody landrovers! Well done and all the best. Phil
@philr878 thanks for the comment Phil hopefully you have smooth sailing on the job ahead 🤣 pray to the landriver gods for no unexpected misshaps haha
WOW !!!! You are great! which shock absorber did you fit? What brand is the red shock absorber? Is it the OEM size or is it longer? Thanks for the reply, I follow you and I really like your videos as I also have a Discovery 3!!!!
@riccardoscarpelli hey Riccardo they are a pedders struts same length bigger bore They didn't hold up to great personally would stick to oem and just put the coils on them instead they were a far nicer drive then the pedders on and offroad
Good work, easy to follow ...
Why the fk would they design something like that.. shit british engineering
