Again good video! Tonight I was finally able to finish reassembling my engine (TDV6 2.7L 2006 Manual) which had a seized turbo, rocker cover gasket HS; elbow water inlet at engine split; water pump pellet leak drip) and oval hose clamp on water hose (leak). I took advantage of redoing the distribution :), insulating the electric cables with aluminum adhesive tape; complete draining of all the fluids. After a few attempts (about 4 minutes to restore the fuel to the high pressure rails) the little monster woke up healthy :).
Nice explanation on what your doing and the way you and your wife present it....far above my skill level but I love your explanation on the process and that you refer to LR time which is another of my favourite channels...Keep them coming:)
FAI Bearings is what C&V changed to for the 2.7. Kings is for the 3.0. The check is to see if the oil hole is a different size than whats in the block. The diameters are slightly different.
Yeah will be having a look for sure I'm hoping I as mines a 2012 that I have the different bores as the parts listed for the Ford territory engine aswell will find out I suppose haha
Hey mate. Christmas has definitely come early for you and I cannot wait for the videos of you rebuilding your discovery. I think next on my to do list is the upper pulley and the blue silicone boost hoses like yours..keep up the mint work 👍
The smile on your face is exactly like a child at Xmas, I know because I do the same. Lol so jealous of all your presents. You should get your wife in front of the camera more, it works for C&V.
Hahaha it is exciting old disco stu definitely gets spoilt more then kerry and myself I do try get her involved but she's busy with uni and still camera shy hopefully as time goes on she will get on the band wagon with me Would help me out alot not just having myself to talk to that's for sure!! hahah
Are you doing a series on rebuild/reassembly? Also have you thought about something like an accusump oil accumulator to help potentially reduce wear on crank bearings at startup? Cheers 👍
Hey Jeremy I have recorded my rebuild so far but it has been as in depth as I normally do I've been struggling with some health issues lately after a reaction to the covis vaccine I'm hoping to finish my engine on Monday and then start the install into the vehicle To be honest I havnt really heard of an accusump oil accumulator so I'll have to have a google search on what it is I'm assuming some sort of engine oil pre lube pump ?
@@OUTBACKDiscovery sorry to hear you’ve been feeling rough. Hope you’re back to full health soon 👍 Yeah used to pre-lube at startup. I’m absolutely no expert - just stumbled across the idea when thinking of ways to reduce any opportunity for the main crank bearings to have enough friction to spin (blocking the oil entry and then quickly snapping crank). Could be a complete red herring but something I heard a while back was to do with the distance oil has to travel on startup in these TDV6 engines. I meant to ask Christian at LR Time also as he might have some thoughts.
Haha, cut from the same ilk. I’ve also been tempted to buy an LR3/4 that’s down on its luck to fix up and sell, but then I think better of it. I think you need some sleep! 🙃
Makes me want to save up and commission Christian and Vera to build me one for storage. After all these D3 blown engine videos am now terrified. I can see why people say this is a $20k job.
Good work mate and quite timely for me actually, as I am currently in a similar situation in prepping a Territory motor to go into my disco 3. Just wondering if you had a link or something for the rear crank seal installation tool? The ones I've seen don't seem to be priced quite as sharply as yours. Keep up the good work and looking forward to following your progress. 👍
Thanks Chris hopefully yours goes smoothly I bought mine off ebay from this link below www.ebay.com.au/itm/Crankshaft-Position-Sensor-Fitting-Tool-for-Land-Rover-TDV6-303-1130-Premium-/304140305596?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0
Will soon find out how long it lasts 🤣 I've been pritty happy with there stuff so far ( external engine parts and drivetrain parts ) I'm tuned and tow plus mix that with 4wding and corrugations I havnt had there parts fail yet Hopefully It's the same with the engine 🤣
Looks like you got the situation under control 👍👍👍 Christian

Hey mate, where did you buy all your parts from? I’m located in WA too so I’m assuming it would be a good bet
Hey Aaron I went through bearmach in the UK takes 4 - 5 business days after dispatched
@@OUTBACKDiscovery perfect thanks for that!
Where’s Kerry’s?
Camera woman 🤣
BGA - oh please no, Chinese junk. Britpart is called Shitpart for a reason as well. Don`t do it twice, get good quality parts.
