Agreed when doing it the spastic way I did however leaving the transfer case on and removing and installing it with a transmission jack is even easier 😄 I borrowed my old boys transmission jack to put it in was a easy process compared to the mess I made pulling it out haha
Did one jackaroo trans without a lift, never again. Built my own tranny lift with an old floor jack with a few mods. Saves hours of work and no mashed fingers.
Yeah borrowed the old boys one to put it back in haha I was like F this 🤣 Done a fair few suzuki clutches ect with just the jack but there alot lighter so was easy Was definitely unprepared haha
On the Landrover Discovery classics it works very well if you stick an engine hoist in through a door, a chain around the gearbox then grab it with the hoist through the gearlever hole. Would it work on this ?
I didn't think of that to be honest ! But that definitely would of helped alot then I could of just used the jack to tweak the angle needed to clear everything Spoiler I ended up boring dads trans jack to put it back in 🤣
😅It‘s great to see you back. Great video, can‘t wait for the install. Hope you have a transmission lift by then😅. But you can probably lift it up single handedly 💪🙋♀️Vera
I borrowed my dads trans jack in the end haha made my life alot easier 🤣 I wish I was strong enough to not use a jack 🤣 hope all is well for you and Christian Weather would be warming up over they're by now wouldn't it ?
Wish I saw your video before giving my Rodeo to a mechanic for clutch replacement. After picking up car and travelling down road for 100 metres the car went into limp mode. Old mate has no idea and tapped out. It now in Holden dealership getting diagnosed. The car was laggy when it did drive after pickup. He said he put in a Excedy HD however thought the bell housing inspection holes the plate is grey not pink as for the HD. Thought this was a reasonable simple process for a mechanic as we did a RG changeover 2 months ago without to many dramas. Just didn't have time to do this one. Any ideas on what could have possible gone wrong would be appreciated.
Hey Peter I'm not sure really what could cause limp mode to be honest you don't really disturb much unless he's damage one of those sensors on the gearbox Possibly check clutch fluid level as there is a sensor on that aswell and then bleed the slave cylinder In case he took the hose off
Just had a new clutch kit put in my rodeo mechanic did not machine flywheel now tends to slip in 3rd and 4th gear would this be the flywheel also has a terrible rattle when clutch is released 😳
@jarredStanton-ed1iu I'd be taking it back mate and getting it sorted Rattle could be a worn thrust bearing slipping in gear after a new clutch definetly warrants taking it back
Clutches getting more expensive wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for every other thing around us getting expensive also😢. Certainly looks like a trans jack would help out a lot there. Would removing the transfer make it more manageable?
Trans jack made a huge difference I borrowed one to put it in went it easy as with t case still attached For people stupid enough like myself to remove it with a normal jack removing the transfer case would make it alot easier to manuver around the rear cross member
@@OUTBACKDiscovery it comes in the United Stated model of the Chevy Colorado, the transmission for the 2.9L is an aisin A5 transmission. Do you know if this has the A5 transmission? Thanks!
Its a good idea to replace the rear engine seal aswell
Good advice 👍 I slapped a new seal in, In part 2 of this 🍻
Way easier to unbolt transfer case of then drop the box. Makes it lighter when you go to put the box back in as well.

@@OUTBACKDiscovery You know the things we borrow from my dad or Christians dad, we never return. 😅🙋♀
@@Vera_and_Christian 🤣 haha I wish dad would let me keep the things I borrow from him 😅 I don't here the end of it until I bring it back haha
Was this a dual plate replaced with a single?
Hey Sparky no this was a single replaced with a single unsure what it had from factory as this is its 2nd clutch replacement

what car is the same as the 2012 chevrolet colorado gearbox

@OUTBACK Discovery yeah I'd be stupid enough as well, no trans jack here
Is this the same transmission as the 2.9 vortec? I just got one one that needs a clutch and there’s no videos on changing a clutch on the 4x4 manual
Hey Parker I have no idea to be honest I'm not familiar with the vortec which vehicle is that

Do you have to drain gearbox or can you leave oil in?
If you keep the box upright you can keep the oil in it, owner wanted new oil anyway so I just drained it before removing
