    If you really want to succeed as a TH-camr, then please do yourself, and your audience, a favor by getting with a voice coach. Or even, just join Toastmasters. You have a cadence to your speech which is extremely tiresome (as in, you sound tired and bored with it all). And then there are the verbal tics... umm... and yeah... but yeah... uh... you know... yeah. But the clothes are beautiful. Yeah.

    For anyone getting a new (or new to you) sewing machine, there are affordable options with a stitch that looks like a zig-zag with a line above and a line below. It functions as close to a serger as possible on a regular machine with its one spool of thread - highly recommend.

    Have you done 1930s makeup for working class or house wife of time. Not as in Marlena Dietrich. Steal or glamorous. . How or were would you. Address this subject. I am prep for event were it more adventure, Indiana Jones, working class type person Amelia Earhart type characters not sure Hollywood glitzy climber 30s make up. What’s the suggestions you have for that type of personality

    I think most people in the western world have gone through those things. It is called learning and growth. You are NOT so different than anyone else. I have debt because I was in school late in life and I used credit cards for food. I used to have a job that paid me fantastically during the summer and I always paid everything off each summer. Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and my job died with it. I don't worry about it. I pay what I can and move on. Life is full of ups and downs. I wanted to be a special education preschool teacher, but a couple of months after I received my teaching credential I was diagnosed with cancer and I have had many operations due to cancer and bad back problems so I am now retired and I have little money on a fixed income.

    Madeleine Khan’s white dress from Paper Moon is on my make list. I have a couple reproduction patterns from McCalls from the late 20’s and early 30’s. From family photos, most of the women in my family wore simple shift dresses. I have one of a grandma with a shirt and blouse, at a funeral, I think. Maybe it goes under the radar because it was an austere time. Bonnie and Clyde and the Newton boys (family) were in the press and usually not in anything fancy. Even fancy was poor and folks like reminiscing about the stories. Then the war started and folks were just relieved it was over.

    Thank you for sharing. Many people are quite superficial, and hence consider the people around them in a superficial way. I can definitely relate, having a classically pretty face, a lot of people have commented on my pretty face, without having the curiosity to know me on a deeper level. I have found that when I do meet people who show genuine curiosity, I spend a lot more time with them!

    I love to flip through these old magazines. I have a lot from the 30s to 60s. I am always amazed at how good the still are: these colours and drawings, no fading. The shorter dresses and skirts for college girls show that fashion is not a quick change. It is not a cut in style from 1939 to 1940 it is more a progress.

  • @benman1577
    @benman1577 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yes! The 30s get so overlooked as a whole! I wish there were more reproduction 30s cloting out there too. I find that it is very close to the 40s, but there is something that 40s clothing misses that the 30s does just so well. my Favoite Batman is Batman the Animated Series because it it totally styled with the cues of the 1930s, and it is just so visually pleasing!

    Hearing about the Great Depression as the first (and only?..) association with the 1930's was a bit unexpected. For me, as a Russian, the first associations were the Great Terror of 1937 and the general rise of totalitarianism, also reflected in fashion, not only in the USSR and Germany, but in other places too (sportswear!). Feels kind of relatable again...

    I unfortunately discovered AD about a year ago and have since become an addict lol. I got the green Parkers for an event, then took advantage of the summer sale and got the navy Claremonts. I love them both though they haven't been worn quite as much as I would like due to life. Then I splurged on the Liliths and Daisys during the Thanksgiving sale, though I anticipate wearing them more in the springtime than winter, since I have a fear of their shoes being discontinued before I can get them (I really wanted the Peggys but was trying to be responsible with my money and they were discontinued this summer, sigh). Over the last 2 years I have needed to replace all my shoes since they wore out basically all at once and weren't worth taking to a cobbler. I now have a closet full of SAS and American Duchess shoes that I love; though I do occasionally have to remind myself the beautiful AD shoes are meant to be worn and if I ruin them at some point it is ok, they are just shoes lol.
