Great question! Melina says - “Upon the cliff, in Castle Stormveil, is a shardbearer. A demigod who inherited a fragment of the shattered Elden Ring.” The Demigods having their Great Runes only after the Shattering doesn’t make sense given what they tell us about their respective demigods. The Great Runes all explain something about the lineage of their Shardbearer, including their parentage (except for Godrick since he is not a child of Marika, just a descendant) For example, Morgott’s Great Rune says - “This Great Rune is the anchor ring that houses the base, and proves two things: That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage, and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell.” How can a Great Rune he received after the Shattering prove his lineage if anyone else can pick it up? Siblings have similar shaped Great Runes such as Rykard and Radahn’s or Morgott and Mohg’s. Mohg’s Great Rune says “Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.” How could twin brothers have naturally similar great runes if they got them after the shattering? How could that be natural? The text isn’t contradictory though, just because they inherited their Great Runes at birth doesn’t mean they didn’t get Shards after the Shattering that actually caused them to “go mad” Rune Arcs are described as “A shard of the shattered Elden Ring. Grants the blessing of an equipped Great Rune upon use. The lower arc of the Elden Ring is held to be the basin in which its blessings pool. Perhaps this shard originates from that very arc.” So while they would have their Great Runes at birth, they aren’t activated until the Elden Ring is shattered and they gain access to Rune Arcs. This is reflected by gameplay, your Tarnished can have a Great Rune equipped but not benefit from its power until you use a Rune Arc. This is important because it shows another wrinkle in Marika’s plan to slay the Elden Beast - the Elden Beast is the Elden Ring and Great Runes come from the Elden Ring. By storing the Great Runes in her children she is weaking the Elden Beast so she can shatter it. Then when her children go mad with power the Shattering War occurs that destabilizes the Lands Between so that our Tarnished can successfully slay the Elden Beast. If they didn’t inherit their Great Runes at birth how to explain the randomness, how can siblings have similar shaped Great Runes, why do only Marika’s children have Great Runes, and more importantly, why does Morgott lose his Omen Horns when he loses his Great Rune? Elden Ring is very orderly, there isn’t much randomness in the story or world, save for Chaos and Shabriri

your point about both bayle and the dragonkin being righthanded is moot as bayle doesnt have hands. if his left wing had a sharp bone sticking out of it he'd use that one instead.

if the nox succeeded in creating bayle, 1. why dont we see more dragons like him? theyve had presumably thousands of years since his creation. 2. the way bayle is talked about by them, the ancient dragons and placidusax probably knew him long before their fight. it makes no sense if the nox created him, only for him to not attack placidusax for years. if the nox were able to figure out at least making different lightning (bayles fire lightning while the nox only had ice lightning), why do none of the nox, mimics, or dragonkin use that lightning?

None of your criticisms were valid - the Dark Moon ending is the most popular ending in the game. The Nox did all they had to do, you ask why don’t they do more, the answer is they don’t have to.

Morgott’s Great Rune explicitly says that he is part of the Golden Lineage, and Godrick’s Great Rune says that the Golden Lineage is Godfrey and his offspring No where in game does it say that Godwyn is Godfrey’s son, nor does it say he is part of the Golden Lineage. No where does it say that Godrick is part of the Golden Lineage. All evidence points against it - Godfrey isn’t even Godfrey, he’s Horah Loux. Names lie Historically there have been bastards born out of wedlock and raised as royalty when they weren’t the kings son. The lore was also written by George RR Martin - look up who Joffrey Baratheons father is, or who Jon Snow’s father is If you think item descriptions lie then what’s the point of engaging with the lore and story? When has an item description in any of Miyazaki’s games lied. They can misdirect, they can be sly, but they do not lie. If you don’t trust the item description then you aren’t engaging with the games lore, you’re engaging with fan fiction

@@JackisaMimic While they do not outright or directly lie they deceive through Omission. That’s what I meant. And we know that Godwyn was the Brother to Miquella, as stated in the sword description. So while we do not have a direct in game reference to his dad being Godfrey, we know he is the Son of Marika. That along with the God in his name implies heavily that he is of Godfrey’s linage. Godfrey is the name of The Elden Lord and is what he was called after he took Serosh upon his back. Hoarah Loux was the name of the beserker warrior he was before he became Elden Lord. The game also doesn’t directly stat who Messmer’s father is either! But from the Red Hair and cursed affliction of the Abyssal serpent it’s heavily implied that it was Radagon. Given that there are only ever two males named and associated with being Elden Lord and Consort to Marika we can infer the lineage of Godwyn.

@@JackisaMimic Also I like to point out the one of Godwyns Titles is Godwyn the Golden. How can you say he isn’t part of the golden linage because it doesn’t directly say he is? Yet everything surrounding him implies it? Who would his father be? Godrick is a descendant of Godwyn, like his many times removed grandson. That is why he is looked down upon and is so weak. The golden linage diluted. Godwyn is meant to be the epitome of the Golden Lineage. He is the Son of Marika the Eternal, and Godfrey the Elden Lord. He is the start of the Golden Lineage. And in fact you could say any and all children and their descendants of Marika is of the Golden Linage. I don’t think it’s Godfrey that makes the lineage golden, it’s the ties to Marika. You’re focusing on the wrong direction. And wanting empirical proof in game and lord that is totally Amorphous and Transient in nature. There are many things with no clear answer so All we can do is use the clues and contexts and implications to infer meaning. Honestly even if Godwyn was not the son of Godfrey, it wouldn’t change anything? Because he is still the son of a God and has transcended mortality to become the Prince of Death. What is Godfrey to that?
