Just is case this comes true: The reason why Miquella is a husk is because his soul is not present in his body, his soul is back in time. He is able to travel back in time via some ritual involving his location beneath Caelid at Mohgwyn that requires the use of a lot of blood. This is the cycle! Everytime Miquella gets splashed with that blood his soul is sent back in time and he attempts to do something that will change the outcome of the world. When that doesnt work, well it will just happen again, and again, and again. The world is literally stuck in a cycle until Miquella figures it out right. Maybe the theory about Miquella's soul is in our body is true? So why Deathroot? Prevent his spirit getting sucked into the Erdtree-net while he does his Time Travel nonsense. If Im right about this you better subscribe for future videos
Bran the builder Bran the one eyed crow!!! Aahhhh!!! I didn’t even see the parallels! Hut this raises a lot of questions. Tonnes of them actually! I’ll present some soon on your sage cave video with the code words! 😆 Eeek!
I’m tentatively acclimating to the idea of any of the characters possibly time traveling. For some reason I’m instinctually averse to such storylines. But, it’s clear and quite blatant, really, that time is both at play (obviously) and perhaps being manipulated by more than one character. The fact that we can only effectively use Miquella’s needle in farum azula, in the place we are told is outside of time, amidst Placidusax, also seems like a big hint. Considering Miquella would need to have designed it that way or known TO design in that way in the first place. Something about being outside of time and the use of his needle which appears to be made of SILVER or PLATINUM “removes the influence of ‘outer gods’.” It’s all utterly compelling when you put it in a theory the way you have. So whilst I am mind boggled and riveted, I’m also still so completely confused. So I would like for you, with your BIG CAT somewhere in your vicinity, to answer some questions, if you think you might know- 1.) With Miquella repeatedly traveling through time in an effort to yield a particular result, does this open up the idea that time itself in the lands between is unreliable? That this “cycle” could be an infinite loop and has literally been going on forever and will continue to until we stop the person spinning the wheel of time? 2.) Dragons have skin of stone. Something about Marika and Radagon being made of stone and the small child with the three wolves statue in farum azula makes me wonder, is there a link there on purpose? Are Dragon kind and Numen in some way related? Dragons would said to be immortal. The numen live long lives. Is there a link there, do you think? It’s also possible that Marika and Radagon are made of stone simply because they’ve been outside of Miquella’s eternal cyclical efforts for eons and have become fossilised. What do you think? 3.) Do you think there is some significance to the Miquella Sigil when casting golden epitaph’s ability, the bewitching branch ability and Miquella’s needle all have a different colour symbol with each initiation of the spell? It’s the only sigil to appear in multiple colours before casting a spell. 4.) To what end do you believe Miquella desires godhood? Truly to save his sister? Or do you believe Miquella to be of a more nefarious disposition? If so or not, why? 5.) Lastly: If Marika and Radagon are one being, how and why can we both wield Radagon’s body as a sword AND place Marika’s head back on her shoulders if her body/Radagon’s body is a sword now and not a crumbling stone statue? This is so confusing to me. Especially because the sword literally describes itself as having been made from the body of a god who SHOULD HAVE LIVED A LIFE ETERNAL. My brain splode 😫
Ill hit these up in the next QA so others can hear this but hears the rough draft lol: 1.)I would not be shocked if the big reveal is that every play through is canon and the goal is to get one iteration of the Tarnished of no renown to do the "right" thing, whatever that may be. Essentially the Time Traveling Bran theory. GRRM likes timetravel, Miyazaki likes time travel. Also another person pointed out that Morgotts body gets de-omened AFTER we gain his remembrance, and Miquella has the same model. GRRM's time traveling consciousness that he uses could be at play here. Someone better send me a check or something if it turns out the player character is a mimic tear with Miquella's soul in it lmao 2.) Marika and Radagon are not made of stone. Although they look like stone, and while Radagon is immune to bleed, he is not immune to Scarlet Rot and is weak to fire. Rocks cannot bleed but they also cant rot. Trees cannot bleed, but they can rot, and obviously they dont like fire. Trees are also long lived and seldom born, like the Numen. I am leaning towards Numen being akin to Dryads. The Elden Ring can be housed in the Erdtree and Empryeans (and besides the GEQ we know that all Empryeans are Numens), so I think its a safe assumption that Marika and Radgon are akin to petrified trees, their body color is nearly identical to the petrified trees in the snowfield and underground. 3.) I didn't know they had different colors, I assumed the inclusion of the Haligtree Symbol was to confirm the young boy quoted in the sword is in fact Miquella. Otherwise we would just assume who the young boy is. 4.) I don't think he is nefarious, at least not more or less nefarious as anyone else. Everyone of these characters are killers, and what is worst than that? Malenia's rotting sickness is eternal, she has been rotting for a very long time. Check out Gowry's dialouge: " The rotting sickness that afflicts Millicent has no cure. When the Erdtree flourished, even the demigods could not stave off its effects, despite their nigh godhood." When the Erdtree flourished implies at the beginning of the Erdtree's life cycle, and if you believe that the Twin Empryeans are some of the most ancient beings like I do, then it could be a case of Miquella attempting to cure his sister through multiple ages. GRRM is an ex-Catholic and an Atheist. Miqeulla's goals could be warding away of ALL Gods: Frenzy, Rot, Greater Will, Dark Moon, ect... to cure his sister, and possibly the world. We know Miquella is smart and a schemer, but I hope he is a good person. 5.) Same way that you kill the Elden Beast yet the Elden Ring (which is the Elden Beast) gets reforged. For Hewg to make a weapon to kill a god you need ancient dragon smithing stones which are: "This stone lightly twists time, allowing the creation of a weapon capable of slaying a god." So you are "killing" the Elden Beast by essentially hitting it with a time travel stick and sending it back to before it was the Elden Beast, I guess. I think the same thing happens to Radagon and Marika. Theyre dead and turned into a sword then BONK a little time travel, now they arent anymore. Bonus theory: The Sacred Relic Sword we can use in game is not actually the real Sacred Relic Sword, obviously. None of the remembrance weapons we use are the "real" versions of those weapons, they essentially mimic the original weapon. Funny thing is that all of those weapons can only be upgraded by somber, colorless, smithing stones. Colorless and silver aren't too far off when you look at them side by side I would say ;) There may be a mimic in all of us afterall
@@JackisaMimic The theory of the player being Miquella was introduced by AngelOfThePast in the yt video "Elden Ring's Hidden Story" 2 years ago. It is fascinating, and I am hoping it is true.
Ever since the topic of a dlc was being thrown around the community, my thought on the content of the dlc has not changed. I believe we will have to access Miquella's body with a key item that will allow us to enter into a dream-scape similarly to how we entered the Deathbed dream and the Ancestor Spirit arenas. But in Miquella's case, we will enter a legacy dungeon within his mind that is corrupt by the Formless Mother, and the goal of this first DLC segment will be to free him from the clutches of the FM, and the first major boss will be Miquella's mind being possessed by an Avatar of the Formless Mother (an inferior version of the Elden Beast lore-wise, so to speak). We will meet Miquella within his mind at this stage. This ends the introduction. Act 2 of the DLC would involve initiating the Eclipse through main-game progression. Radahn must be dead, and we must return a key item (Miquella's ring, probably) to the Haligtree, so that his plan can begin. We'll probably get a cutscene of the sun being eclipsed, and the spirit world forming within the literal shadow of the Erdtree--in between all of the Divine Towers, and being accessible from any of them via a new pathway. Now we get into the meat and potatoes of the DLC with a new region (probably the size of the entirety of Limgrave), and this is where anything can happen. I'm sure we will meet Godwyn's spirit, interact with the Gloam-Eyed Queen (or her god in some way... Melina could be the vessel we speak to whether or not she dies in the main game), and we might actually get to speak to Marika at some point towards the end. I suspect we will be given the option to either assist Miquella in his mission, or help whatever other major force is present, whether it be the Gloam-Eyed Queen's God, or Godwyn, or something else.
I like this structure a lot! A clear set of goals with a well-constructed world. The DLC might not follow this but I find it really interesting to think about what it could be!
With the sages cave, I found it interesting how you have PAtches hood, two bosses, hanged albaneurics, a necromancer, black knife assassin... Very curious cave. Meanwhile stillwater cave has a big connection to Gowry and the servants of rot with Malenia.
Sage´s Cave must have been a safehouse, storage space or staging ground (or all three) for the traitors during Night of the Black Knifes, with protective illusions. Patches does have Morgott´s Shackle somehow, so I think Patches was associated with traitorous faction of "Lord´s Alliance" that aided Black Knifes in some capacity. Sage´s Cave is only small distance away from Mt. Gelmir anyhow.
The absolute weirdest thing about Sage's Cave, to me, is that there is a room with like 4 skeletons AND weapons in boxes and on racks. Who is gathering weapons for them, and why?
@@xXLunatikxXlul I really would like a dream pocket dimension though. Wich would be a nice reference to ds painted world (we could argue tath farum azula serve as a separate pocket dimension but still...)
I think the cocoon will be an optional entry into the DLC. Fromsoft doesn’t usually put access points to DLC off the beaten path. They are usually around a main area where the 1st difficulty spike occurs. My guess you will mainly access the DLC in Leyndell Capitol, probably in Mericka’s throne room or some such and the other access point being the cocoon
What makes me almost firmly believe it will be Miquella's Cocoon is for two reasons: the first is that I think this will be firmly end game content, so it needs to be gated appropriately. Second is that you can make Mohg your third boss fight rather quickly. Following Varre's questline, you only need to obtain one great rune, do three invasions or kill a specific NPC in Altus, and get maidens blood from one of three sources found in the open world. Your reward is an item that teleports you straight to Mohgwyn palace. You could make a new character and do Margit -> Godrick -> Mohg if you so desired.
@@JackisaMimic I don't agree to be honest. The Cocoon is a popular theory as the entry point but to go through it the usual way will take a lot of time. As for your reasoning, even if you get access to Mohgwyn Palace through Varre's questline, you would be severely underlevelled to fight him and potentially attempt the DLC. I think the hidden statue of Malenia and Miquella in Altus Plateau is a better entrace.
There's a rumor floating around that debuggers and dataminers found a location in the game's files on Altus Plateau labeled "St. Trina's Hideaway." Assuming this is true, then it would be the most logical place for the DLC entry. Gating the DLC behind an optional late-game boss isn't From Software's typical style. Then again, an open world Souls-like isn't in From Soft's style either. Maybe this is all BS some people cooked up, and From Soft really will break from tradition by putting the DLC behind Mohg. Still, I would like to believe it's true.
@@user-pk6iz1tp5w yeah…not sure where all the vitriol is coming from. I think you may have misread my comment. I am agreeing with you the first difficulty spike is just another term for..mid game. It’s why I said it would probably start in Lyndell..Altus Plateau is mid game.🤷🏿♂️
Beautifully illustrated video, I just started playing Elden Ring, studied the mechanics etc. and now I can't stop having fun. This game is a masterpiece 👍
There are so many things and people i hope we get to know more about in the dlc like the gloam eyed queen, melina, st trina, tanith after you kill rykard, rosus, the many dead demigods we‘ve never met, of course miquella and godwyn and more i can‘t think of right now. There’s so much lore that’s yet to be revealed and i need all of it.
Godwyn and Miquella (and therefore Trina) are locks imo, it’s possible to kill Tanith after Rykard if you return to his boss arena so I doubt we’ll be seeing much more there. I REALLY hope we get Gloam Eyed Queen / Melina stuff this dlc as there’s a ton of missing pieces to that story, but I could see them either saving it for a future dlc (lmao) or even a future project.
People saying that they need to come up with a new plot should just pick a new game to play. We all know the epic bosses and their lore is the reason why we play these games
What made me fall in love with these games was when I accidentally discovered Gwyndolin in Dark Souls 1. I didn't have internet at the time and was doing a second playthrough, I wanted to try some spells but didn't level attunement so I was wearing the Dark Moon Seance Ring to get some spells slots. That opened the illusory wall to Gwyn's Crypt and there was a secret boss there?!
I think Shadow of the Erd Tree will be something like what Tears of the Kingdom could have been - more detail and breadth over the established masterpiece. Likely there will be more items, ashes of war, spells etc., but I hope that they avoid Nintendo's error of falling in love with a new game mechanic. This far however, From Soft' has been extremely reliable in their quality, so I maintain hope.
It would make the most sense, they already have a massive game world, all they need to do is remix it in an interesting way. Miyazaki and his team have never disappointed me in the past, I know the DLC will be great.
Your interpretations of this wonderful story are very unique. I’m glad I stumbled upon this channel. You seem to be very soft-spoken and eloquent, thank you for sharing!
I'm happy to hear that you are finding value from my videos, but you got me all wrong! If my family heard someone describe me as soft spoken they would laugh at loud.
“I hope Miquella realised that it’s not a game of thrones. It’s a song of ice and fire.” Then into the poem George said inspired the name of his series. Genius writing, Ser Jack! As far as the kindness due to your TH-cam video, thank you for sharing your creativity with us as well as your brilliant mind and storytelling prowess. How could we offer anything in return but our warmest welcome and kindness? Bada bing, bada boom. 🤣😂🤭 It’s been an absolute joy embracing you into the grander Elden ring TH-cam lore community as one of the demigod content creators with the most original voice and views!
@@saketbakshi4235 It’s not last year. It’s from 1920. You can find it on Google: Martin also named Robert Frost's 1920 poem "Fire and Ice" and cultural associations such as passion versus betrayal as possible influences for the series' title. A Song of Ice and Fire - Wikipedia
I don't know what else to say other than thank you. I'm glad that no matter what video I have uploaded its like I've seen your gold summon sign on the ground waiting to be brought into my world lol!
Something else I wonder if the DLC will somehow elude go in relation to Miquella is how they chose his referential colours. Gold and purple. Specifically pure, unalloyed gold. When gold is processed in isopropyl alcohol with a powerful laser, the result is a process known as plasmon resonance. It produces, curiously, a purple light and a purple cloud of golden nano particles. Rendering the gold and alcohol into a colloidal gold which is used in things like pregnancy tests and covid tests as the nano particles bind themselves to specific substances in the tests yielding a purple, sometimes red, band. I wonder if this whole process was part of what influenced the colour purple to be associated with St. Trina.
Your second paragraph is exactly why I don’t think we will get an answer to your question. It’s an artistic choice that is so deep and rich that learning the origin or choices would either give the game away or hurt our enjoyment. I’d rather read yours or anyone else’s theories on the choices of colors rather than from Miyazaki or GRRM. “Miyazaki has high hopes for us, that we will debate the lore for all of eternity”
The fascinating thing here is that gold as a colloidal purple cloud with applications in MEDICINE specifically is opaque and would not be influenced or penetrated by yellow or otherwise coloured light, but is still not as effective an anti microbial as colloidal silver. Something the Knights of the haligtree using glintstone sorceries made me wonder if Miquella might have been onto.
@@JackisaMimic We have silver mist of the night maidens, we have purple mist of sleep. Should the two be made into a singular mist it would be an electrum mist 🤣😂 stupid I know but also the opposite of stupid 😆
exactly, we will travel back in time. Theres something about making full cycle. We will go back in time and we will be maybe reason of shattering elden ring, or maybe we will have influence on any major point from lore.
That’s actually where I think differently, in Dark Souls 1 that is the case but I think for Elden Ring what happens deep in the past will be irrelevant to the current story but what we learn and bring the future will be important. Meaning, it’s not what our characters does in the past that matters but what they do after they return to the present that will matter.
If they don't explain what the hell actually happened from the time of night of knives to what happened just before we woke up in-game then I can't be bothered to care anymore. All people have are vague theories based on item descriptions and cut content *does not count as canon.* If it's not genuinely in the game, then it's not plot. The player should not have to become a computer hacker to figure out a game's story, that's asinine. After the massive let down that was AC6, if they pull another non-story stunt like that again then I'm done with fromsoft.
Hey, don't give up skeleton! Just watch my channel for the answers ;) I understand the frustration, it can be annoying to want to get invested into a story or world that you think you would love or enjoy but there is a barrier to entry when it comes to these games. Not everyone has the time for that, and that is perfectly acceptable.
@@7F0X7 then you are playing the wrong games, simply speaking. There are new documentaries on Fromsoft games where Miyazaki states that he deliberately minimises particular explicit details in order to tell his story, while also leaving room for the player to use their imagination. Some theories have way more evidence than others, but the point is that it’s up to you how you feel about the story It’s like Art, in a sense. Legendary artists tend to paint pictures very personal to them, that many may not understand, so it is up to the audience to view the art how they perceive it Also kinda like a David Fincher film. In the end of his films, we still don’t get the full picture. It’s personal movies that are meant to be watched multiple times to put together your own theories about the plot
@@HeevaEgo That's not always true. Rotatostkr praised the completeness of the lore in his many videos on the Dark Souls series, but he was extremely put off by the lack of basic plot facts in Elden Ring to the point he just stopped covering it pretty early on.
@@7F0X7 the dark souls lore isnt complete at all.. most of the theories are pure specualtion without any physical evidence within the game... elden ring presents a way more complete storytelling... if u want a complete story u are in the wrong franchise
I sort of think that the DLC will do exactly that, but it can only do that if the DLC either allows a new ending really. Fingers crossed that’s the case - but I’m also completely open to the idea that the cycle can never be broken, but now that death is back in the world it’s not an issue and life can prosper once more (ending dependant, of course). But just purely based on the implication that the Great Tree was burned / felled occasionally, I think it’s just how this world works. The thing that provides life and abundance must sometimes be cut back to ensure future strong growth. Can’t remember who it was (probably Quelaag) who said it, but the Crucible Knight armour shows a top down representation of a cut tree. Given the whole plant influence on the mythology, I’d be okay with the cycle continuing in some new form
Godfrey’s weapon of choice is also an axe, the man made enemy of all trees. When the Elden Ring was shattered, seeds were scattered through the Lands Between and Minor Erdtrees started to grow. Are we sure this isn’t the first time this has happened? Marika shattered the Elden Ring, while Radagon repaired it. To most that looks like they are in opposition but if we look at their actions together I see them reforging the Elden Ring, scattering seeds, creating more Erdtrees. When will another strong man come along to fell a tree, to repair the Elden Ring, to kill demigod children, to become Elden Lord.
I would much rather see Lyndell, the Carians, and the demigods back before things went crazy. I especially really want to see Radahn who is my favorite souls game character so far. Would be really cool to see him before he became a wild beast with his brain rotting out.
Im imagining we will see the long forgotten Sun Realm that existed before Age of the Erdtree, or the astrologers in the mountains before they became sorcerers and Carians. Something that gives us an understanding of why the world is the way it is. I don’t think we will see a close past but a far past. It would be sick to see a young Radahn though, him and his brother are a very interesting pair.
Oh sweet summer child, what do you know of Hollowing? Hollowing is for the long night, when Miyazaki and GRRM hide their faces for years, and children are born and die without seeing a sequel to their favorite properties. I kid of course
One thing I kinda hope is that if the DLC has time travel or time displacement, we would get to experience at least one large scale battle. I would love to get to be smack-dab in the middle of a massive siege with armies battling one another trying to complete our objective as a lone third faction representative with no friends or mercy to be found. Or to be put in the rows of an army marching against another, getting to experience what it was like when armies clashed in the Lands Between with siege engines, arrows, sorceries, incantations a flying and arms clashing in front row combat as great champions give each other battle. I would love to get just a taste of what this old still very much living world we got told of over and over again was like, and why its time went and died out of pure necessity. Throw in some heavy hitting demigods at their full power as bosses, and it sounds like fun times ahead...cause if the already broken feeling time of the Lands between becomes fluid and can be meddled with, I would adore a fight with Rennalla, Radahn or Malenia back in their heyday when they were at their pinnacle and prime. Full power unleashed, rather than decayed and eaten away by a cycle that went on for far too long.
@@JackisaMimic With the combat system of Elden rings it would be so chaotic to be in a large scale battle. And that's why I would love it. Because it would be an incredibly gritty and dangerous/difficult (plus fun) situation to be in. Even groups of enemies are enough to give us trouble. Now try having armies clashing.
@@videocrowsnest5251 I was wondering this a while ago. That trailer to Elden Ring made me think we would have a perpetual battlefield outside of Lendyll which could have worked as a scramble for an audience with Marika or exactly as you described. The continent is too massive for how calm it is and if the dlc can answer this I'd be more than satisfied. It can even work like an opposite to Caelid but more dangerous. Repetitious playthroughs display how empty the game is.
@@Do0mSl4yer95 Yea, I noticed this too. The first time around, you are too busy trying to figure out where to go and not getting bonked by ambushes or random patrols. But after you actually know how to handle yourself and get the lay of the land, the world feels suddenly geographically very tiny and empty. The desolate feel is appropriate, but makes for a strange feeling when combined with how large yet small the place really is. Try riding Torrent from Limgrave to the capital following the road network best you can, and you really get a sense for how much presentation masks how small the landspace actually is. Or from Raya Lucaria (de-facto the capital of the only other nation Queen Marika does not on paper lead if we ignore the Nox underground cities) to the Erdtree capital. It is a literal stone toss if we discount needing a trip up the big elevator. Which is why if time displacement (nothing here time feels broken as it is in the Lands Between) is a thing, in the DLC it would be great to get some experiences in a time when the whole landmass wasn't a decaying husk.
@@videocrowsnest5251 tbh, I think quite the opposite lol Compared to larger open worlds like BoTW and the Witcher 3, I like the fact that I can distinguish individual roads/areas in Elden Rings regions after a couple playthroughs. It makes each region feel more memorable than regions from other open world games like those I’ve mentioned. Off the top of my brain, I can pinpoint 85% of The Lands Between after my 6 playthroughs. Each area has identity and I feel that really makes me enjoy it from a comfort standpoint, almost as if it’s my home lol😭. The smaller nature of ER’s world feels a lot more Fromsofty if that makes sense - a world that’s small, but more compact with detail and content, as well as memorable locales As for a battle simulator: I think it’d be freaking awesome, but fromsoft haven’t done anything like that before, and certainly wouldn’t risk that on a DLC - which is usually made up of Miyazaki’s fav parts of the main game. I certainly expect another Radahn-like battle with multiple NPCs, considering Radahn was Miyazaki’s fav Elden Ring boss - likely for the unique reason that it is one of the rare boss fights in the series that feels like a battle
My hope is that if the DLC follows Miquella, it focuses on a genuine attempt to make something objectively better than what came before. Sonething bigger, something beyond petty squabbles and wars.
Aren't the Frenzy and Ranni ending both already about moving beyond the cycle? Agree with them or not, I don't think they are "small-minded" as you say.
Every time I see Miquella's arm I hear in my head an old timey carnival barker voice going "STEP right up, STEP right up folks the show is about to begin!"
We will travel back in time. But I think that's reserved for the final DLC, maybe in 2025 or 2026. We will help Marika the Empyrean rise to godhood. Yes, this game is about cycles, including Miquella's ending/era which also will be a cycle and will eventually end. Miquella's ending, in terms of validity, will be at the same level of other endings and yes it will have it's on set of problems, namely Miquella's personality. His era, one of "abundance" may bring balance along all abstract aspects which define the LB, but he will rule without checks and balances, he will not have a patron abstract deity above him to keep in check. Remember that in this game all factions have their legitimate points, including the GW. They are there to keep Marika and other empyrean in check. Without them, we WILL have Goldmask's warning of mass chaos and destruction through fickle, unchecked gods.
There were leaks/rumors from Lance MacDonald(the prolific hacker who was able to get Bloodborne to 60FPS) that originally Elden Ring was going to have two DLCs, but instead they combined it into one expansion pack. Take that as you will, though.
Essentially, our situation will be summed up to the following: If this upcoming DLC approaches all lore topics, including those of the GEQ and Marika's past/Farum Azula statue, then the game is complete. If not, and the DLC only deals with present topics, such as deathroot, Godwyn, Miquella, the NOTBK and Mohg/Formeless Mother, then expect another large DLC in 2025/2026, with a primary large questline, maybe larger than Ranni's, which will be Marika's questline in the past.
The idea that lore exposition is driving the production of DLC is extremely dubious and goes against everything we know about how these games are created. This is not the way Miyazaki/From thinks of game design, at all.
I'm hoping we get additional endings to the game. I can imagine that we may get something like Dark Souls 2, where the additional ending is to reject the cycle and after you beat the Elden Beast you just leave. No fire, no ice, no Elden Ring.
@@JackisaMimic as i said before the only clue for this is the caption “new adventures IN the lands between” on the expansion pic, so if it is in the lands between then i guess it’s the same map
I love that he quoted the description of the memory of grace that guides the tarnished back to the lands between. As Marika promised in her echoes communicated back to us via Melina in a conversation at a grace on our own adventure through the lands between. I also find it fascinating that Ser Gideon Ofnir, the “All Knowing” would say of Marika that the reason he knows it in his heart and in his mind that we cannot as tarnished kill a god, and stands before us to block our path, is because I’m his own words, Marika wanted us to struggle eternally. To “return to the lands between, wage war, brandish the Elden ring, grow strong in the face of death.” But what he failed to realise are Marika’s words just before that. The cycle has already begun. “My Lord and thy warriors, I divest each of thee of thy grace. And with thine eyes dimmed, ye will be driven from the lands between. Ye will wage war in a land afar, where ye will live, and die. Then, after thy death, I will give back what I once claimed.-“ At the end of the game we place her head back on her neck and the vessel glows within. The light of the Elden ring burning with the embers of golden grace once more. The more war we wage, the more we brandish our great runes, the stronger we will become and the greater Fantasia will be. This is the neverending story!!
There are few major themes but there are two that speak to me personally. One of them is the cycle of violence, how violence begets violence and hate begets hate. No matter if that violence is born of a fiery passion or a cold icy hate we all suffer from the act of hurting one another. How advanced can civilization be when we choose to hurt our fellow man? The other is identity. What is it to be original? What is it to be yourself? Does a copy have any less value because it’s a copy? Is a life worth less because it’s a being of silver made by human hands, or is a piece of art lose its impact because it’s a story that’s already been told? It doesn’t matter if the character you play in game is a mimic of your favorite manga character, or wears the clothes of the first Elden Lord, or is a character you’ve made up, or is a character that represents you. It doesn’t matter because you’re the one playing, you beat the bosses, you fought the monsters. No matter what you look like when you gaze into the mirror at the Roundtable Hold or in your bathroom at home, the person looking back will always be you. No matter what, it will always be you. Lost Ash of War: “Thus does the copy pass into becoming the genuine article.”
What Gideon saw was people theorizing the story for all of eternity! (or that this wasn't the first time the Elden Ring has been shattered, but maybe thats for another video. )
This was pointed before, but the picture from the dlc, the Erdtree is beeing... like... sucked up from some other kind of tree like a leech. From the lore we can assume there was a tree prior to the Erdtree, like another Great Tree that was not the golden one we know and that was likely free from any outergod influence; this tree could have be what is know for us as the crucible, the origin of all life? maybe. So this picture being the origin of the Erdtree as we know it and us beeing brought to the past makes a lot sense. This is also related a lot with Miquella since, maybe he wanted to just, recreate that original tree with the Haligtree he was making.
Watch my previous video “The Eclipse: Miquella’s Secret Crime” if you’re interested in hearing what my opinion is on this, I would love to hear your thoughts after you watch it!
I think at the very least its obvious most likely we will have 2 new endings in the dlc, an ending where miquella's new order takes place and one where godwyn's order takes place, just like in the base game, we will be the catalysts for these new eras
I have a save file that has the Fire Giant, Mohg, and Malenia alive as well as finishing Millicent's quest and having the needle. Trying to see if there is some extra dialouge/content. Secret Malenia third phase? lol
I think the Land of Reeds is almost firmly a stand-in for Feudal Japan. The amount of violence and wars during that period would make the Formless Mother salivating for all the blood lol
Well, it's not really at the end of the game. If you wanted to you can fight Mohg as your third boss. If you follow Varre's quest-line you need to acquire one great rune, do an NPC invasion in Altus, and collect an item that you find in three separate places in the open world. Afterwards, you're reward an item that teleports you straight to Mohgwyn palace. If you so desired you could do: Both Dectus Pieces -> Margit -> Godrick -> Varre's Quest -> Mohg That would make it more accessible than the Dark Souls DLC by way of steps you need to take to access it, but it would be gated by a difficult boss.
I used to firmly be on the side that Ranni’s ending was the ultimate good ending, but when we think about what is literally happening: the Elden Ring is put in a giant ice moon, what does that mean to the nature of the world? So I’m not sure, it may end the cycle of violence, for a time at least, but at what cost? What do we lose and what do we gain?
@@JackisaMimic I took it to mean that the metaphysics of the world was under a new jurisdiction. But now I'm not sure. Anyway, thanks for the response!
From their father's side they have Numen and Fire Giant's heritage(Red hair, Radahn's large size), on their mother's side they have Astrologer heritage, who appear to have the Nox as their ancestors. The Nox are "children of the Eternal", as per Gowry, making both parents having Numen heritage. Interesting that their daughter would be Empryean ;)
@@JackisaMimic I dont think they are of fire giants heritage.. this is just a curse wich marika put into radagons half once she split... radahn became huge when he claimed a part of the elden ring, he wasnt huge from the beginning as seen in different occasions.. his throne is normal sized... when fighting morgot they are both same size
I have a video I’m working that will cover all of the Carians so I hope you stay tuned for that! I think many people have this perspective but I will point to two things briefly: Radahn specifically learned Gravity Magic to ride his horse since he became too large And The thrones are spectral, they are not actually there. They could be a symbolic representation of something else and not literal chairs they all sat in at one point. Morgott can make golden illusions of people and weapons so chairs are not out of the realm of possibility. Thanks for the comment, hope you stick around!
I feel like the DLC has been in production for so long that it is going to be massive in scale. They already had a lot of the work done because they already made the game, add a little more than two years development time to a pipeline that was already in place and we could potentially get something of massive scale.
When I said it’s going to be Elden Ring again, I literally mean that. When it comes to gameplay and content, I do think the DLC will be the scale of a full fledged sequel.
@@JackisaMimic Yeah that's exactly how I see it, there has been enough time to take cut content + a whole extra two year cycle with all the tools, lore and capital backing already locked in. Personally for the DLC, I'd like to fight Miquella's or Malenia's shadows at some point because we already got Maliketh and Blaidd. I'd also like to know who the girl with the three wolves summon was and about Melina but I don't think I'm going to get all the answers.
I see the Greattree and Erdtree kind of a like how a child grows. You are not the same as you were when you were a child, but even as an adult you are still the same person that child was. Like, the Greattree > Erdtree is a different phase of the life cycle, but we will have to see!
I also hope Miquella has greater plans as well. Because at the end of the day the Elden ring is still something we can't fully conceptualize nor do we fully understand the greater will and it's role for it's people.
I actually disagree and think we can fully understand the Greater Will. To quote Oscar Wilde, "Without order nothing can exist-without chaos nothing can evolve. Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.” The goal of the Greater Will is to have Order within everything: no change, no choice, forever stagnate, forever orderly. At least, that's how I see it. Thanks for the comment!
I think the painting was just to symbolize working on something new. Miyazaki doesn't generally like to do sequels, and I think Dark Souls 3 exemplifies that feeling of his.
I noticed in the lore of Elden Ring most of the bosses are war torn and past their days of glory. Imagine you fight a prime Melania or prime Radagon etc. holy crap that would be epic.
Did Miyazaki not allude to the fact that he is attempting to show IRL issues with this story? It actually ties in so well, the fundamentalism, generational wealth, eventually overthrown by another, who repeats the same process. It is a beautiful example of feudalism, and how it never breaks itself out of the cycle. It is, within itself, a self-fulfilling prophecy. Good eye. Solid theory.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the theory! All stories are ways to explore the human condition. Whether it takes place in a castle, a coffeeshop, or space ship, it's all about us.
@@JackisaMimic truer words, eh? We have been describing our future through various mediums of media/storytelling from the very beginning of humanity. It’s humorous how despite how easy it is to make the connections across history, how ignorant we can be en masse. Sadly, having non-standardized education and alienating those with creative problem solving creates across the globe has lead to the majority of humans to completely forget how capable an individual’s mind can be, and what can be achieved in collaboration with those who share similar ideas and aspirations. I have hope for the future, as I know many do. :)
So I would like for you, with your BIG CAT somewhere in your vicinity, to answer some questions, if you think you might know-
1.) With Miquella repeatedly traveling through time in an effort to yield a particular result, does this open up the idea that time itself in the lands between is unreliable?
Ill hit these up in the next QA so others can hear this but hears the rough draft lol:
1.)I would not be shocked if the big reveal is that every play through is canon and the goal is to get one iteration of the Tarnished of no renown to do the "right" thing, whatever that may be. Someone better send me a check or something if it turns out the player character is a mimic tear with Miquella's soul in it lmao
2.) Marika and Radagon are not made of stone.
Check out Gowry's dialouge: " The rotting sickness
that afflicts Millicent has no cure.
When the Erdtree flourished,
even the demigods
could not stave off its effects,
despite their nigh godhood."
When the Erdtree flourished implies at the beginning of the Erdtree's life cycle, and if you believe that the Twin Empryeans are some of the most ancient beings like I do, then it could be a case of Miquella attempting to cure his sister through multiple ages.
For Hewg to make a weapon to kill a god you need ancient dragon smithing stones which are: "This stone lightly twists time, allowing the creation of a weapon capable of slaying a god."
So you are "killing" the Elden Beast by essentially hitting it with a time travel stick and sending it back to before it was the Elden Beast, I guess.
Colorless and silver aren't too far off when you look at them side by side I would say ;)
There may be a mimic in all of us afterall
This sorta explains how we can see people's deaths through bloodstains
@@JackisaMimic The theory of the player being Miquella was introduced by AngelOfThePast in the yt video "Elden Ring's Hidden Story" 2 years ago. It is fascinating, and I am hoping it is true.
I hope this quadruples the size of the game so i wont have to leave my room for the next decade
The game is already 50 or 60 GB bro... RIP storage
I've never been one to think we were going to be in Miquella's dream, but it is a great possibility. I wouldn't mind the DLC you painted here !
I like this structure a lot! A clear set of goals with a well-constructed world. The DLC might not follow this but I find it really interesting to think about what it could be!
I think you are 100% right
Even the time worked on the DLC implies a huge amount of content : I imagine a dlc as big as Elden Ring again
This is longer than they’ve worked on some of their mainline games(DS3 I think), we’re getting a sequel disguised as an expansion pack!
I really hope the cycles plot will not be used for this game.
I agree. I want the plot to be unique and kept separate from Dark Souls.
that's literally the point of every souls game and even Elden Ring. It's the whole point of the story.
@@xXLunatikxXlul I really would like a dream pocket dimension though. Wich would be a nice reference to ds painted world (we could argue tath farum azula serve as a separate pocket dimension but still...)
@@Groddon ooo, yes!
@@Groddon I loved the painted world - hopefully we see something similar for the DLC :)
Liking what you do, and also liked the miquella video a ton, especially how you wove it narratively.
Thank you! Next week should have the Sage’s Cave video which also attempts to serve lore through a narrative.

Elden Ring is a very special game! Happy to hear you’re having fun, hope you check my other videos out if you want to know more on the lore and story.
Lol they openly said it's gonna be a minute because they're putting two DLC together as one
I have been waiting thirteen years for the next ASOIAF book. The wait for Shadow of the Erdtree is nothing compared to that lol
Found my favorite Elden ring lore channel :) Great analyses and looking forward to all the lores at DLC release!
I hope it’s about Godwyn. Much more interesting story than Miquella

@@JackisaMimic 🤣😂
@@JackisaMimic well I predict this could lead to colloidal electrum!

exactly, we will travel back in time.

Just watch my channel for the answers ;)
I understand the frustration, it can be annoying to want to get invested into a story or world that you think you would love or enjoy but there is a barrier to entry when it comes to these games. Not everyone has the time for that, and that is perfectly acceptable.
@@JackisaMimic My point is no matter how well sourced your theories are, they are still theories. I want just facts, no extrapolations.
@@7F0X7 then you are playing the wrong games, simply speaking.
There are new documentaries on Fromsoft games where Miyazaki states that he deliberately minimises particular explicit details in order to tell his story, while also leaving room for the player to use their imagination. Some theories have way more evidence than others, but the point is that it’s up to you how you feel about the story
It’s like Art, in a sense. Legendary artists tend to paint pictures very personal to them, that many may not understand, so it is up to the audience to view the art how they perceive it
Also kinda like a David Fincher film.
The demigods become the NPCs questlines? Yes plz
I hope Miquella has a quest line, and at the end he is a boss fight
And thus the great hallowing begun
Oh sweet summer child, what do you know of Hollowing? Hollowing is for the long night, when Miyazaki and GRRM hide their faces for years, and children are born and die without seeing a sequel to their favorite properties.
I kid of course

Badabing, badaboom.... Love it! Keep up the good work
One thing I kinda hope is that if the DLC has time travel or time displacement, we would get to experience at least one large scale battle.
Sounds like Dynasty Warriors Elden Ring and I would be lying if I said that doesnt sound cool lol
@@videocrowsnest5251 tbh, I think quite the opposite lol
Compared to larger open worlds like BoTW and the Witcher 3, I like the fact that I can distinguish individual roads/areas in Elden Rings regions after a couple playthroughs. The smaller nature of ER’s world feels a lot more Fromsofty if that makes sense - a world that’s small, but more compact with detail and content, as well as memorable locales
As for a battle simulator: I think it’d be freaking awesome, but fromsoft haven’t done anything like that before, and certainly wouldn’t risk that on a DLC - which is usually made up of Miyazaki’s fav parts of the main game.
I certainly expect another Radahn-like battle with multiple NPCs, considering Radahn was Miyazaki’s fav Elden Ring boss - likely for the unique reason that it is one of the rare boss fights in the series that feels like a battle
Miyazaki said the dlc was going to have lore bit clarifications
Oh there will definitely be, but it may be for questions we may not have even thought of asking yet!

And just like a carnie, his game is rigged ;)
I think it’s not unlikely all of the base game was inside a “painting” and we’ll be outside it next
Kenneth should finally get to knight you
@Cobalt4 as long as the golden seed was where he fell it was worth it 👌
I think the DLC is going to review that Miquella was Ranni’s accomplice.
If it proves my Eclipse video right that would feel so good lol
what if the DLC actually offers to break the cycle?
I'm hoping we get additional endings to the game. I can imagine that we may get something like Dark Souls 2, where the additional ending is to reject the cycle and after you beat the Elden Beast you just leave. No fire, no ice, no Elden Ring.
An original take on the subject. Nice work.
Thank you! Check out my other videos if you want to see some more of my theories, there is definitely something in there you haven't heard before!
the caption says it all we will be geting same map shadow realm
Definitely agree the map will be the same, we will wait and see if it’s a shadow realm!
@@JackisaMimic as i said before the only clue for this is the caption “new adventures IN the lands between” on the expansion pic, so if it is in the lands between then i guess it’s the same map
I hope we don’t get the trailer leaked like for GTA 6, it would really be a shame
I was expecting the Q&A for Miquella's Secret Crime!
Great Video. I like your idea about cycles in DLC. Btw, what do you think is the main overarching theme of the Elden Ring?
I love that he quoted the description of the memory of grace that guides the tarnished back to the lands between. As Marika promised in her echoes communicated back to us via Melina in a conversation at a grace on our own adventure through the lands between.
I also find it fascinating that Ser Gideon Ofnir, the “All Knowing” would say of Marika that the reason he knows it in his heart and in his mind that we cannot as tarnished kill a god, and stands before us to block our path, is because I’m his own words, Marika wanted us to struggle eternally. To “return to the lands between, wage war, brandish the Elden ring, grow strong in the face of death.”
But what he failed to realise are Marika’s words just before that. The cycle has already begun. “My Lord and thy warriors, I divest each of thee of thy grace. And with thine eyes dimmed, ye will be driven from the lands between. Ye will wage war in a land afar, where ye will live, and die. Then, after thy death, I will give back what I once claimed.-“
At the end of the game we place her head back on her neck and the vessel glows within.

My dad works at FROM SOFTWARE and told me this was true. Trust me bro ;-)
What Gideon saw was people theorizing the story for all of eternity! (or that this wasn't the first time the Elden Ring has been shattered, but maybe thats for another video. )
@@JackisaMimic hahahahah I wish my dad did too, but he went for milk and never came home
That picture could be also from the future and what we see is Goodwyn's deathroot taking it over.
Secret Malenia third phase? lol
Shadow of the Erdtree Will Change Everything
Shadow of the Erdtree will change everything including the tires on your car
I was thinking that we saw the other side of the cycle.
And that the the Land of Reeds is the "upsidedown".
I think the Land of Reeds is almost firmly a stand-in for Feudal Japan. The amount of violence and wars during that period would make the Formless Mother salivating for all the blood lol
I don’t think it will necessarily be about demigod children and certainly won’t have an entrance basically at the end of the game.
If you so desired you could do: Both Dectus Pieces -> Margit -> Godrick -> Varre's Quest -> Mohg
That would make it more accessible than the Dark Souls DLC by way of steps you need to take to access it, but it would be gated by a difficult boss.
@@JackisaMimic Saint Trina’s Hideaway fits From’s MO way better.
We'll just have to wait and see, won't we! If you're right Ill give you shout out!
Doesn't Ranni's ending break the cycle?
I used to firmly be on the side that Ranni’s ending was the ultimate good ending, but when we think about what is literally happening: the Elden Ring is put in a giant ice moon, what does that mean to the nature of the world?
So I’m not sure, it may end the cycle of violence, for a time at least, but at what cost? What do we lose and what do we gain?
@@JackisaMimic I took it to mean that the metaphysics of the world was under a new jurisdiction. But now I'm not sure. Anyway, thanks for the response!
Hmmm you just made me realize that radhan, ranni and rykard are half numen
I think many people have this perspective but I will point to two things briefly: Radahn specifically learned Gravity Magic to ride his horse since he became too large
And
The thrones are spectral, they are not actually there.
The dlc WILL take place in the past before the great tree was overtaken
I see the Greattree and Erdtree kind of a like how a child grows. You are not the same as you were when you were a child, but even as an adult you are still the same person that child was. Like, the Greattree > Erdtree is a different phase of the life cycle, but we will have to see!
@@JackisaMimic w take
I just want more elden ring! 😢
Me too buddy !
Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”
The goal of the Greater Will is to have Order within everything: no change, no choice, forever stagnate, forever orderly.
At least, that's how I see it.
Thanks for the comment!
@@JackisaMimic you're right I didn't look at it that way.
Birth of a new god
Is elden ring the unfinished painting in dark soul 3 dlc
I think the painting was just to symbolize working on something new. Miyazaki doesn't generally like to do sequels, and I think Dark Souls 3 exemplifies that feeling of his.
I noticed in the lore of Elden Ring most of the bosses are war torn and past their days of glory. Imagine you fight a prime Melania or prime Radagon etc. holy crap that would be epic.
I would love to hear dialogue from Radagon, very curious to hear what he has to say.
Bada bing bada boom love it 😊
Did Miyazaki not allude to the fact that he is attempting to show IRL issues with this story?
