      Spiral? Like how a new born gets bigger by eating and sleeping and eating and sleeping.
      Until it makes a mimic of itself in the form of another new born. And childbirth is painful.

    Can't believe I can still be surprised by stuff that was right under my nose. The Peninsula always been a mysterious place especially why would the grace of gold guide us there. • @Greywander87
      @Greywander87 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's a bunch of Sacred Tears there for bolstering our flask. The Guidance of Grace actually points towards Castle Morne, though. Could just be a gameplay thing, where the Guidance directs you to major points of interest. The Grafted Blade Greatsword is also considered a legendary weapon, though I don't think that alone would be sufficient reason to guide you there. I'm still not 100% clear on whether the Guidance of Grace (or Grace in general) is something that comes from Marika, the Erdtree, or the Greater Will.

    • @TheOxydium
      @TheOxydium 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Greywander87 In previous videos, Jack made a pretty good point that the grace of gold is Marika guiding us to slay the demi gods and follow Ranni quest line. I agree that it's more of a narrative guidance than a gameplay one. So there must be a big reason plot vise that we go there. My intuition makes me think it maybe related to the Irina/Hyetta, the Flame of frenzy and it's body snatching capabilities. But that feels like a pretty risky plan that could backfire if we follow the Frenzy ending. That's why I always looked for a better explanation. And if someone could clear that up for me it's probably @JackisaMimic ;)

    Much of the story is also about repetition, or mimicking as you call it. The Nox challenging the stars, and subsequently Radahn doing the same. The Serpent returning. The rot-flower blooming "once more". Sellen's pursuit of understanding in the stars mimics Azur and Lusat before her, and the unnamed sorcerer in the mountaintops before them.
    Elden Ring states it so clearly; those who do not learn from history, are destined to repeat it. When history is rewritten to suit the victors, there is no learning from it.

      In case you somehow didn't know, they can be parried, which makes them "touchable". Only one parry is required, after that you can just hit them normally. IIRC there's a note in Midra's Manse that alludes to this tactic. So slap Carian Retaliation on a shield and get to it!

    • @Greywander87
      @Greywander87 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@annekkipu You can't infuse ashes of war on the Carian Regal Sceptor, and in any case staves can't take parry ashes. Just grab any random small or medium shield you meet the stat requirements for and put Carian Retaliation on it. It's widely considered the best parry ash as it has the longest number of active parry frames. Basically that just means you don't have to be as precise with the timing. It will still take some practice before you'll be able to get it right, but the Aging Untouchables don't respawn once killed. Maybe practice a bit on the soldiers in Limgrave.
      If you don't have Carian Retaliation, you can buy it from Pidia at the Carian Manor. You have to access him from up above, near Ranni's tower. Or you could just use another parry ash if you don't mind the higher difficulty.

    • @CenteredTarnished
      @CenteredTarnished 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TSpoon823 this was actually my very first analysis of the base game- that Marika’s child died and the game is a reflection of that inner turmoil.
      Part of me thinks that Messmer is actually the dead child and we fight….. well a memory (remembrance) of him. If Messmer was around and doing things before his banishment to the Shadow Lands, he would not be represented as an infant. Yet, in the Marika statue behind him and the abductor virgins- it is an infant and most certainly meant to be Messmer. So many artistic and item descriptions are about infanticide. I would assume that we are meant to apply that to the main character of the game.
