This video was drafted and recorded before the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer. Please excuse the Preceptor if he missed any details from the trailer or otherwise, the Shattering has caused us all to forget some things...
Lol Preceptor Mimicus is without flaw or error! How dare you call into question his certainties! I’m quite sure Marika plucked the rune of dementia from the Elden ring as well, so there’s nothing to worry over!
I don't comment a lot on TH-cam but I really wanted to say keep doing what you're doing - your work is really fun, engaging and, in a space that has many creators, incredibly unique and exciting. I'm loving the videos you're putting out - thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! I want to share what I think about a piece of art I love but I also want it to be fun, I’m happy you are enjoying the videos!
JACKIVUS! big cat here What do you say to my proposal that we pronounce the name Eiglay like "Egg Lay" ??? Because of the theory that the different factions of Elden Ring have different methods of reproduction. Erdtree faction grows people on the tree, Demi humans reproduce sexually, etc. So why wouldn't Rykard's serpentine birthing rituals involve Laying Eggs? That's how snakes do it! We know Miyazaki loves names that use wordplay. And I guess Miquella is in an egg too, but probably unrelated. My biggest takeaways from this lesson: -Rennala is a lot like Helen of Troy, as a continent-spanning war was fought so Radagon could marry her. -Rykard is a lot like the OG Kratos! Trying to kill the entire Pantheon of gods (My new favorite character! I wish for a Kill All Gods ending) -Jack you're like Gandalf in the beginning of Fellowship, returning from his studies on the Ring to save the world with information LOL I spent at least ten hours watching and rewinding to rewatch this video, & I'll probably do the same with all your vids! Your commitment to the bit, to the character, and to Fun is top notch! This was the perfect 2yr anniversary event for E.R. and you outdid the DLC trailer in my opinion.
Egg lay thats perfect! You're probably right! So happy you liked my video so much, I had a lot of fun making it and trying to play the role, it really helped me get in the headspace of the characters. I am also glad that Rykard is your new favorite character because he is my favorite character too (he is also Miyazaki's favorite character next to Godrick). What I love about Rykard is that he is so intrinsically tied to the ancient past of the Lands Between, he is able to see the bigger picture, but he goes too far and starts committing atrocities becoming a villain himself. For a time he probably was just and noble but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Hopefully the Preceptor, or another character, can return in the future to elucidate the truth of the history of the Lands Between!
Been replaying Elden Ring in anticipation of the DLC and I swear it gets better the more you play and understand the lore and world - your videos are perfection
I am so happy to hear that my videos make you enjoy Elden Ring more! I feel the exact same way, once I understood(or thought I understood) what the world was and who these characters could be, playing through the game felt more impactful. Thank you so much for sharing!
You're the only other person I've found who's come to the conclusion that the Carians are the descendants of the Nox! The other video essays I've listened to claim that they discovered it long after the Nox were banished but that didn't make sense to me! You presented all the clues in a way I've been trying to articulate for a year now!
I am glad I could give you some solace! It's a difficult thing to do because you need to present all of the information almost chronologically, it took me like 30 minutes just to get to the point where I could say Numen > Nox > Nightfolk > Carians, and it took a lot more writing and research than that!
Let me first say, my guy, your style for cinematic storytelling and your ability to weave a compelling narrative from the game's environmental set pieces and item descriptions are impeccable. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and those made prior, major kudos to you! I really appreciate that you'll be branching out into viewer collaborative content as originally with your Miquella video it inspired me to write a document properly penning my thoughts on 2 topics I find interesting in the game. Then, when you announced the making of this video it reignited the fire under me to more cohesively meld my thoughts before sharing it as one of the crack theories I have involves the Carian family. Can't wait for the DLC to release and I hope to see your channel flourish this year and beyond. Will be waiting for more content from you and will definitely send an email about my crackpot theories. All the Best!
Excellent, I’m glad you like my videos! I’ll say that the storytelling I’m doing is cheating, a bit. GRRM and Miyazaki wrote the story, I just happened to either read their books and or play their games. Never the less, I made this TH-cam channel because I shared my theories very passionately on Reddit and for the most part it was a very negative experience, but on TH-cam 99.9% have been very respectful and supportive. It awesome to hear that I inspired you to try to express how you feel about a piece of art we both care about. I look forward to getting that email and platforming it, please reference this comment when you do so I remember!
@@JackisaMimic It was a great watch! I'm obsessed with the lore of these games, so it's not like there was much new information to be had, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I liked how you wove the different topics together in a somewhat cohesive story and especially how you added in your character's and "Guts'" backstory! I didn't have my eyes on the screen the whole time, but it seemed like most of this was not cut that much? It really made the whole lecture style more believable. This must have taken a while to make, and you knocked it out of the park. I look forward to your next video. Hopefully you will bless us with another one of the Black Swordsman's narrative adventures soon!
This was filmed in two sittings and there were very few cuts, only a handful thanks to the cats! The next episode of the Black Swordsman saga hinges on the DLC trailer, I have a lot of ideas but I want to make sure it leads directly into the DLC, specifically if the Cocoon is the entrance. I want to build on the Black Swordsman investigating the ancient dynasties and doing some "tarnished archeology".
Wow can I say how refreshing and unique your content is as someone that loves the lore of Elden Ring?! You got me crying too when you were talking about Rennala losing Ranni. 😭Love your content.
Thank you! You and I were crying together, happy that I could pull on your heart strings with my interpretations of the story of this piece of art we both love!
@@JackisaMimicabout 2 hours in and this is your best video man, I love the Preceptor role play, and just little things like the line with Radahn “if you want to catch a comet you must grab it by the tail” same energy as “I thank you for your tutelage, for now I can conquer the stars.” Great work once again man excited to see where your channel and you as a content creator go
Thank you! I want all these videos to be fun and I’m glad that you’re enjoying it so far! We don’t know much about these characters so I wanted to do something to humanize them and paint the picture of how I think they may have been before we find them. Thank you again for the support, I’m happy you got a kick out of the little jokes I made!

Trees wither during winter and lose their leaves, allowing in light from the heavens above. In the context of Elden Ring, and particularly in Erdtree and Golden Order worship, this would mean utter chaos. The various moons and stars are able to be studied in the absence of the Erdtree. The sun, whose light and warmth (or coldness, depending on which version of the sun you are looking at) was entirely replaced by the Erdtree, could once again become the norm. The sun is fiery. Leaves of a tree that grows up towards the sun could be burnt. The winter is cold, which causes trees to wither. Manipulation of both the sun and the cold would be required to maintain a tree which is bountiful and alive forever. In the lands between, cold is perpetuated by the Zamor, and by followers of the dark moon, both of which the followers of the Erdtree subjugated or eradicated. As for the sun, the main associations with it are connected to Godwyn the Golden, and the knights who bear the crest of the eclipse on their shields, as well as the Skeletal Swordsmen who live in death and drop the Sun Realm shield. Perhaps Godwyn was a demigod who heralded the return of the presence of the sun in the lands between, which could have been a major threat to the Erdtree. The description of the Sun Realm shield appears to back this claim up. "Shield of honor depicting a city crowned by the sun. It has seen better days. Much like the wear upon the shield, the Seat of the Sun is long faded away." The seat of the sun referenced, to me, only makes me think that Godwyn the Golden had a throne at the foot of the Erdtree, along with Miquella, Malenia, Ranni, Rykard, and Radahn (, and Godrick). This would make Godwyn the demigod who sat in the seat of the Sun, and he was assassinated. Alternatively, it could refer to the seat of the ruler of the realm of the sun, which would be the throne of Farum Azula following this train of thought. If the sun realm was the previous ruling power, and we know that the dragons were the previous order of the greater will, and Godwyn the Golden managed to foster peace between the dragons and the Erdtree based on gold-gold compatibility, maybe the dragons were an order of the sun, rather than the not-yet-existent Erdtree. Additionally, I'd like to attempt to reconcile the warm sun referred to by the Warming Stone's item description, and the frigid sun of Sol, but currently am not able to do so. However, we do have examples of multiple moons, so perhaps there are multiple suns. Also, we know the frigid sun of sol is associated with death. We also know that cold flame is associated with Ghostflame, in which we know death is burned. Perhaps the frigid sun is a flame where souls traveled to be burned, similarly to ghostflame. Pardon the disorganized thought process in this comment. I'm typing it quickly on a lunch break.
I think the thrones Morgott describes in his cutscene were a post-shattering development--everyone with great runes convening in the wake of Marika shattering the Elden Ring, before they go their separate ways and the conference breaks down into the war between the demigods. (credit to SmoughTown for this line of reasoning iirc)
@@minerman60101 In the case that Godwyn the Golden didn't have a throne at the foot of the erdtree, representing the demigods, then the "Seat of the Sun", I assume, would refer to the throne of Farum Azula, unless the sun realm is unrelated to that place.
The fact that glintstone can hold souls and life essence makes me wonder if the giant deposit of glintstone above the Lake of Rot was the prison that the flowing swordsman used to seal the God of Rot away. Could glintstone be used to contain the soul of a God or an aspect of the natural world order? Only 45 mins into the video. So far, great production quality, great topics, and interesting discussion, as always. Update: Those have been some big cat yells. Sounds like a happy cat.
@JackisaMimic I always assumed that the Rot God was sealed away in the form of Malenia's great rune, and it could still have been done that way, perhaps by Radagon, who could have had free rein over the lands of Liurnia while he was married to Rennala. But as for the flowing swordsman, what evidence do we have to say that they had any power to seal a God into a shard of the Elden Ring. I'm guessing if the Rot God actually existed, it was originally a part of the one whole, referenced by Hyetta, and as the world evolved, it splintered and became its own sub-entity which the Followers of Rot formed a religion around. Once again, as for the Flowing Swordsman, it seems significantly more likely that they had the ability to manipulate glintstone sorcery, rather than the Elden Ring itself. I'm interested in learning more about them, where they came from, and if they could have other associations with glintstone sorceries. The Zamor were cold sorcery wielders who use flowing Curved Sword techniques. Perhaps that's where I should begin looking. Or I could just be wrong, partially or completely. Edit: Upon examining the Flowing Curved Sword and the Zamor Curved Sword, whether or not this is acoincidence, the general shape of both swords is identical, with the same branching features in the same locations. However one sword is more rounded and the other is sharper-looking.
Respect for the commitment to the act! Again, always a pleasure to see you grind. It was very interesting puting the different fractions of star/moon/glintstone worshiping in perspective as part of the lead-up to the Carians. There is a theory that went around at some point that the sea in the middle of the Lands Between was created from a meteor - and the divine towers were built around it - only highlighting the importance of space in ER. Anyway - thank you again for the time that you took to put those stories together. Shadow of the Erdtree trailer drops apparently in a few hours - those are some exciting times!
You know what Jack? Everything has a reason... You doing such an excellent work with your videos in the past 2 months just proves to me that the universe WILL bless us with a DLC on February 25th. This is no coincidence. You gave me hope!
That would be so sick if it came out this month. Fingers crossed we get at least a release date announcement! Thank you for the kind words, I am glad you like my videos!
i am SAT. notebook and quill OUT. im also excited to see your thoughts about the shadow of the erdtree trailer! in the trailer it is stated by an unknown npc (referring to "that forsaken place") that "blood must spill. the blood of your fellows." which got me thinking back to when you mentioned mohg's palace being underneath radahn's battlefield, in one of the miquella lore videos. i think you hit the nail on the head with the prediction that miquella needs blood (not just his own) to nourish his tree!!
Happy you enjoyed the video, I had so much fun making this! My goal is to immerse people in the world of Elden Ring as much as I feel like I am by doing more than just telling you the lore.
Big Cat I guess. So yeah, Rennala is a deeply sympathetic character. This ultra powerful lady loses her lover. Not so bad since I think Rennala created the thing that left. Like, she and Marika are ultimately allies. Radagon, possibly a mimic or Marika, and Rennala completed the Numen/Nox goal of creating a lord. Turns out, grace from the Erdtree was the missing ingredient. When Radagon left he bound some grace together, formed the Rune of the Unborn, and sealed it in amber to use as fuel. This amber egg allows Rennala to avoid binding the great rune to herself, spares her from the influence of the Greater Will. But there is more. Yeah, Radagon shields her with that barrier but this lady single handedly conquered Liurnia, there is no threat to her unless… like another powerful figure, she is taking a little vacation from her body. I mean, Ranni does not want us to disturb her mothers rich slumber. Even the ranni clones sing her to sleep. What’s going on here? Well, let’s look at Miquella for a moment. He’s powerful. He can compel people even when he was sleeping inside his tree.. which we now know this sleep to be because his living soul was separated from his living body. He’s so powerful that the strength he gives his followers can cause them to explode. Miquella is just an infant compared to Rennala. Rennala, in her sleep, gathers vague information. The Night of Black Knives comes, something I think was always part of the plan. Ranni dies. At least that’s what the Cuckoo know and what they taunt the sleeping Rennala with. Sure, she knows the truth of the plan but she’s asleep and not even really in her body. Rykard has been eaten by a serpent. Radahn has lost his mind to scarlet rot. Her family is dead. But Rennala, even this slumbering heap of soulless sorrow, is exceedingly powerful and tries to bring back her not dead children. Because they are not dead and she’s not conscious, Rennala just keeps making albinaurics that look like her daughter. All this to say, Ranni doesn’t have red hair. No no no. I mean, I’d be way more afraid of Rennala waking than of Miquella, if I were Sir Gideon Ofnir.
I will never stay focused all the time for a 3 and a half hour video unless it is about Elden Ring Lore. What a narration ! Jack is a mimic !! Superb video, please keep more coming. I am going to watch your video on shadow of the erdtree !
That’s okay, I put Shadow of the Erdtree in the Miquella video title 😉 The people will find their way here. In the end, more people than I ever thought would watch my video have already did it. I’m happy!
Vibes are immaculate, happy to see you having fun and putting out quality long-form content! With a preceptor like you at Raya Lucaria, I believe even Thops can graduate (not really that dude sucks)
Haha thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to make this video, I’m glad you had fun watching it! It’s funny you say that about Thops: “Future generations will learn. They will know the foolishness of the sneering sorcerers who ridiculed this theory, little realizing that it was in fact a discovery worthy of a new conspectus of the academy.” Don’t be one of those foolish sneering fools, put respect on ole Thops’ name!
@@JackisaMimicOh don’t worry, my real life player character believes that any man can change his stars! But as an in-game bluntstone myself, I shall continue to sneer.
Whew that took me a day or two to finish. But you’ve really put a great story together. I’m working on a theory that I’m really excited to share with you! I think I’m going to have to do it in your universe. It may take me a while to finish up but I hope you enjoy it!
This was fantastic! It's a great way to immerse the viewer into the world, and I really enjoyed it. I will say, however, you completely missed the opportunity to play off Luna's interrupting as Lacrima, the faerie spirit-cat who exists in Raya Lucarian legends.
wow, thank you, this was so much fun to watch! it really helped seeing the bigger picture! i dont have a huge knowledge of the lore but i know that there seems to be a big emphasis on yin-yang / duality... and it made me look at the elden ring family tree and look for a possible twin-sibling among the rennala+radagon kids. my first thought was that renna could be twin sister to ranni but i dont think that makes much sense. also, could messmer be the twin brother of someone? keep up the good work jack! hope your channel gets more attention soon
Happy you enjoyed the video! I think if anything the closest twins would be Radahn and Rkyard. Like the Omen Twins the two sons of Radagon have very similarly shaped Great Runes. Messmer could be a twin brother, but I think he is most likley a child of Radagon and Marika (due to his red hair) and maybe youger or older than the Empyrean Twins. Thank you for the support!
Comment not responding to the substance of the video: you should have varied the music more. Liurnia has combat and night tracks you could've used, Raya Lucaria's music, the Eternal Cities' music, the tracks associated with Rennala's children and their domains, Astel's theme, the Fallingstar Beast's theme, etc.
You're probably right. I edited this while listening to my own music and just threw in what I thought would be the most relaxed background track in the game. Audio isn't my strong suite, but I will take your comment into consideration.
Fantastic video from start to finish! I guess my only point of disagreement comes in the Marika is Radagon part. While I definitely agree that they are the same being, the personalities seems to be distinct (glad you eluded to it tho): -Radagon seemed to highly disagree with Marika when it came to destroying the Elden Ring with his desperate attempt to repair it. If their mind was one and the same he would have known all along and wouldn’t have waited until it was done to do it. - He is now preventing anyone to access the Erdtree and become Elden Lord in his stead by continuing to serve the Elden Beast instead of the punished and tortured Marika who clearly betrayed it. That’s why we are fighting him in the end and not the Eternal.
Happy you liked the video! Think like a Golden Order Fundamentalist, think like Radagon: Causality and Regression. To reforge or to remake you must first break it down to repair it. Separately they are opposing forces, together they create something new. If there were no thorns blocking the entrance to the Erdtree there would be no reason to burn it down. A cause needs to be created in order to gain the effect. I feel very firmly about those two points, this last one I am not too certain of but are you sure we are fighting Radagon? And when I say that, I don't mean the body of Radagon but the mind of Radagon, could the Elden Beast be puppeting him while present within his body as the Elden Ring? Slavery is ultimate form of Order, no control and no free will. Only order.
1:54:15 jormungandr! Why didn't I realize it before.of course The Serpent is the enemy of the tree because it will attempt to devour it. That hit me like a ton of bricks just now...
I think when Elden Ring was announced or when it was in the rumor mill there was explicit information that the games lore was based on Norse mythology. I think Vaati had a video way back in 2019 with that information too. This gets my theories all weird because I think Miquella is a Loki figure, so does that make him the reason why the Immortal Serpent exists? Loki is the father of Jormungandr. I could see a scenario where he isn’t the explicit father but he creates the events for Jormungandr, Hel, and Fenrir to exist.
Immediate like, as researching the lore of the game ALWAYS felt to me like I was an sorcerer reading books in the academy, and here you are sharing that fantasy. Taking notes, professor, thanks for the enlightenment [ erudition gesture ] [ nod gesture ].
OH MY GOD, Jack!! I was watching this video on my television while eating a late dinner, and I only pulled up TH-cam on my phone to recap chapter 3 of your Eclipse/Miquella video and I saw it… Shadow of the Erdtree trailer is dropping TOMORROW!!! Goddamn, I have had such an unbelievably stressful week and my birthday is this Thursday so I could not be more excited about this news. Thank you Miyazaki and everyone at Fromsoftware! The Second Great Hollowing is officially OVER, baby!!! (P.S. I promise I’ll leave a comment that’s actually related to your video here in a couple of hours when I finish it, lol)
@@JackisaMimic oh don’t worry. My family is doing better, I got some new videos from you and Ontos, and now this trailer is dropping today! So my week has already gotten exponentially better! Also I’m going to put together a few notes/questions before sending them to you. I almost made it to the end of your video before passing out, so I’m gonna rewatch from the beginning. I figure you went through the effort of making a three and half hour video, so the least I can do is give it another viewing and put all my questions, points, and compliments together for you in some kind of organized, concise manner. I do have a question though, when myself or someone else has a lengthier comment to post, would you rather us do that through the comment section or via an email? I do appreciate you sharing that with us btw, and just wanted to make clear the kind of thing you’re expecting to receive in that format versus through this one.
If its lengthy, send it to me in an email and you can just give me a summary in a youtube comment, like "sent you a theory about why Morgott hasn't filed his taxes yet." It being in my email allows me to not lose it easily. If you wanna watch it again go ahead I won't stop you lol hope you enjoyed what you watched so far!
Happy you enjoyed this style of video! The research I am doing with the play through series that just started is all going towards the Preceptor's next lecture where he will prepare students who want to brave the Land of Shadows!
@@JackisaMimic glad to hear that there'll be more this type of content! I'm planning to do a replay soon so excited to play alongside the Preceptor this time around 😄
This commitment to the bit of you reciting these things as if you were doing an actual lecture is admirable The berserk references are a bit much early on imo, dark souls relied on Berserk a lot more than ER did.
If you’re referring specifically about my use of the “Black Swordsman” it’s because that is the build I use for my lore videos, for a very particular reason. A cosplay build is mimicry in truth, it wouldn’t be right for me to have the tarnished be an original character. We’re all mimics in our own way even if we don’t bleed silver. Elden Ring itself is a mimic, it’s not very original, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t unique.
Love the in-universe lecture, very unique format of lore video And putting in G.R.R.Martin ,Hidetaka Miazaki & even berserks author Kentaro Miura as other scholars was great . Thanks to you Jackavus Mimicus & also to your beast regent Luna
To your point at 59:28. I feel the true question is “why couldn’t the flames be put out?” What was it that prevented Marika & Godfrey from stomping every bit of the giants flame out? I can’t quite remember the specific piece that states it but it’s said the giants flame lives in all of the giants and their descendants. The only reason I could think of is that Marika is somehow related to the giants and her putting out the flame would result in either a loss of power or life. Or of course that bit about not being able to put the flame out is a lie and she ultimately wanted to use the flame in a long term plan to usurp the Greater Will. Hard to tell without the dlc
I’ve tried to place who their god may be, what does it represent. I was thinking it’s possible their god is the god of “life”. Life lives in all things, and life can be chaotic like a fire. I don’t know either though lol but I think you have the right headspace for trying to decipher this!
@@JackisaMimic the DLC trailer and speculation is making me think she didn’t want to or couldn’t kill Messmer. He seems to be linked to the flames in Elden Ring.
@JackisaMimic yeah this video really makes you feel like your actually in this world and learning about it, do you have more lore videos where you use this style?
Not yet, this my first attempt at it. So far all of my lore videos are unique in presentation, just trying to go with feels the best creatively. The Carians is easy to do as an RP because they have the most complete information about them from their origins as a royal house, major conflicts, and downfall. The Preceptor could return however and attempt to dig deeper into other topics, who knows!
This is awesome. Love the theming and the role play. Not only entertaining but extremely informative! I’m sure this took some hard work so thank you. And also I think I speak for many of use viewers when I say we’d like to see more lectures lol
"Remember students, the path to ultimate power and knowledge is uh...not the right one. You know, some things need to stay unknown," as a fellow scholar on related subjects I can say this is often hard to admit. While I do think these great powers can be attained without misery or great cost, It takes some humility and a baseline understanding of the histories, cultures, and teachings of the past to really have a well-rounded contextual framework to work with. My field is not quite as orthodox, leaning more toward the exploration of the middle path between the faithful and the scientific. I think there is a great deal of value to be found in the connecting of seemingly separate ideas, especially ones deemed opposites by we who have a tendancy to apply dualistic thinking to universal concepts. As within so without, and as below so above is an adage I am frequently reminded of when observing the conflicts between those who might benefit from a more empathetic or open minded perspective. The growing divide between the fields of sorcery and miracle-work is disheartening, but I am glad to see a professor such as yourself take the time to detail the conxtext of our shared past. Glad to see you and your familiar doing well, and look forward to future lectures or discussions especially given the recent hints toward a lifting veil in the interstice.
I finished the video and i gotta say i deeply enjoy the presentation and the weave of embelished lore and head canons with confirmed facts because it reminds me that the game's past and presents are supposed to be basically legends and myths (or at least they feel to me like that), also it is always fun to hear stories like these from someone "within" the world. I enjoy your interpretations a lot and i can see how ASOINF have some parallels as someone who just got into the second book. Very entertaining time to watch it several more times to digest everything haha keep it going jack.
Enough head cannon to fire artillery! I’m glad you liked the video, this all supposed to be fun and sometimes we can be fast and loose. Thank you for the support!
Love your content, so nice to attend this lecture! Want to discuss the matter of what you mentioned around 1:54:ish, that "It's wierd that the preceptors had a serpent brooch beneath their mask". It's not that strange, or rather, it's very telling that they wear this, for the same reason as you pointed out about the "serpent strangling the erdtree": The stitches symbolize their vow of silence surrounding regression; Radagon and Marika. In this context the serpent could very well symbolize a threat from Radagon/Marika. Wouldn't this tie quite well into Mesmer and his snakes, and his crest? Secrecy of what happened to these lands in shadow and perhaps of being a secret himself and thus under the threat of Marika. Tons of questions and only time will tell, but hey, love this stuff. Also, your eclipse video - Godamn guuud stuff
Thank you! It's very nice to hear you are enjoying my videos! If I had known about the DLC trailer before I made this video I probably would have a lot more to say on the Serpent's Broach, but alas the Shattering has caused us all to forget some things. If you liked the Eclipse video, get ready for the sequel coming (hopefully) next month. The conspiracy goes a lot deeper than the Night of Black Knives, some really exciting stuff on its way.
This is a very fascinating way to present the history and stories of the Lands Between, Preceptor! I hope your partnership with the Black Swordsman continues for a long time to come. (Did you, perchance, get inspired by The Dark Tower book series too for your story of Radahn and Ohga? 2:03:30)
Glad you liked the video! I've never read The Dark Tower actually, though I've heard its very good. I was trying to think how Radahn would decide to travel to Sellia, I came up with the "Hidden Comet" idea as just a cute idea and then when looking at Ohga's description I thought he would make a good fit for the moniker!
@@JackisaMimicAh right, that's fair enough then! Yes, it is a very good series which you may also enjoy. What I thought might be a reference isn't anything so specific as that though, more the general idea of a teacher and a student having a duel, wherein the student subverts expectations by arriving at the duel without his expected weapon but still manages to win in an unconventional way.
Hey Jack wanted to thank you for coming up with personalities and moments for these characters from the process of writing elden ring's world we know JRR Martin contribution was the backstory and personalities so they way you presented radan and rykard relationship then how morggot took over it reminded me GOT world so iam sure you are right on the money and i 100% agree with you that rennala's sadness is due to her daughter dying(ranni isn't back till after the shattering so when Radagon leaves Rennela its after her daughters death tha's why Radagon implemented ways to protect Rennela because she was going to mania(and losing her senses trying rebirth ranni or herself)before Radagon left
Thanks for watching the whole thing! If I can predict what you're going to say what else can I predict? Glad you liked video, I tried my best to build up the characters as I think they would have been written, happy that you were convinced by my story telling!
Love this video. I've read and thought a lot about the lore of Elden Ring and it seems like you have a lot of fresh and interesting insights. (Even something as seemingly simple/obvious as the fact that the Erdtree's light conceals the night sky and makes stargazing difficult - thereby causing strife between the Golden Order and Astrologers. I've never thought of this myself and never heard anyone else bring it up either, but it really reinforces all the motifs at play!) I enjoyed learning from the Preceptor as well. He seems like a passionate educator even if he is a bit opinionated. :)
The Preceptor is well versed in Carian Retaliation and has no fear in being opinionated within the halls of the Academy. It is a place of learning, regardless what the Stone Heads with their glinstone crowns think ;)
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed the video! I tried to make the things that are made up a little obvious and inconsequential, like Guard Counters being invented by Leyndell or Ogha being a Carian Knight, but for the most part I think my timeline is fairly accurate. If you have a specific contention that you would like addressed let me know, I love talking about Elden Ring lol (even if Im wrong :P)
I personally think the Renala's wedding weapon is Full Moon Greatsword or it is just the Moonlight Greatsword as how strong Renala is tied to Full Moon Magic is. The Dark Moon Greatsword is likely the traditional weapon for Ranni who is tied to the dark moon. I think the tradition changed from Black moon > Full Moon (after Renala took over) > Dark Moon (Ranni only)
The evidence against this is that the Darkmoon Greatsword calls this a "long-standing tradition", so the gift of the DMGS needs to have happened more than once, and the wedding ring which is passed down to princesses that symbolizes the Dark Moon and a "cold dark oath". We also have the Greathood, but that would be another paragraph to explain lol. It seems that the evidence wants us to think why is the belief in the Dark Moon kept secret, and what would people do with that knowledge when they learn the truth?
Holy shit never thought I’d see a fellow sun realm truther, I am of the belief that the sun realm and the giants civilization were either extremely close allies or the same civilization. I also believe that the “fell” god of the giants may in fact be the forgotten god of the Sun (the symbol of the fell god is a depiction of the solar system with the Sun in the middle).
I posit, the Carians did have some effect on war with Fire Giants. We are told at some point that it was the defection of the trolls that lead to the defeat of the giants. Perhaps it is these trolls that the Carians made a pact with. -- It has always been in my mind that Marika didn’t actually have any issue against the fire giants other than wanting control of the Flame of Ruin. I imagine her to ultimately become opposed to the Erdtree and Golden Order and she needed a weapon. We are not told that Marika killed the Fell God, just that it is believed to be the case. Just like Placidusax’s god is fled, not killed. Gloam Eyed Queen defeated, not killed. Marika has an entirely different set of enemies and allies than history tells us. I mean, Godfrey and his warriors, for their service of conquering the Lands Between for Marika, were stripped of their power, exiled, and condemned to battle and grow strong and die. Only after that death would they be allowed to return to the Lands Between to, once again, battle and conquer. So I see the fire giant thing and think, she could not let her true enemy know that she was acquiring a weapon to defeat them. I don’t think Godfrey and his forces actually defeated the fire giants, they were killed with roots and vines not wind and lightning. That victory was staged and perhaps Godfrey knew.
For your first part: I couldn't find any information on the Carian's involvement in the War Against the Giants other than that the Carians have a long standing oath with either the Trolls or the Giants. So they could have had some involvement but I couldnt find anything. For your second part: yes I agree, it is all very curious, and you bring up great points that I hope to be covering in future videos. Seems like you and I are on the same page with the missing gaps in the history of the Lands Between!
I don't know if there's a lot to support the Crystalians being former humans exposed to crystal. Their lore clearly states them to be creations of some ancient origin, perhaps originated from glintstone itself. They don't bleed or have any blood in them.
Just calling it as I see them: exposure to Glintstone turns your body into Glintstone, exposure to the Primeval Current REALLY turned Lusat and Azure into Glintstone, the Crystallians are fully Crystal, and they have a long standing oath with the anti-Primeval current faction the Carians. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck y’know Plus it feels in line with themes both Miyazaki and GRRM like: greed and desire for power turning you in human
My BIG CAT's name is Shikaiya! It means whispers in the wind. Additionally, I would like to know what you think about an idea I've been kicking around within my skull about the map. I have heard a couple of other people touch on similar speculative thought. But this has been a theory of mine for a while. I did mention it to you once before, but I think it got lost in the sauce. It's concerning both the DLC and the lands between we've already thoroughly explored. I believe it is quite possible that this section of the map with vast water and a cloud is where the shadow realm lies, literally in the shadow of the erdtree. It makes sense for many reasons. If you look just past the divine tower associated with Melania’s great rune, you’ll see a massive waterfall spilling into what is presumably a broader ocean. No ocean, no bay, no great sea has ever had a massive waterfall as a feature. No. Additionally, the position of the shadow of the erdtree tree and the town below it lines up perfectly to be considered "in the shadow of the erdtree" if you place this realm where I am suggesting you do so on the map. But, getting back to the thick of my theory, this vast body of bay like water I think is linked to Liurnia of the lakes. Liurnia isn’t very lakey, after all. Instead, it’s more like Liurnia of the marshes. Everywhere in Liurnia is either vastly elevated above the waterline or sinking down into the silt at just below the waterline of the marshes. I think whatever cataclysmic, tectonic shift occurred that pulled the shadowlands into the shadow of the erdtree also drained Liurnia of it’s vast lakes. Whenever the war between the Carians and Raya Lucaria had somewhat settled, the denizens of Raya Lucaria sought to expand upon the Academy, building the lake town. But the lakebed silt was not suitable for building on and would eventually swallow much of the town. All of this displaced water rushed into the chasm where once the land we know as the shadowlands did lie. So what was once vast plains, golden grasslands yielding a bounty of wheat and abundance of grains is now a pool of displaced water, continuously fed by the Ainsel and Siofra rivers. I would love to hear what you think about this after giving yourself some time to consider it, look over the map and explore the condition of Liurnia's infrastructure and "natural" geology.
For my quick takeaway I think the Shadowlands are either supposed to be on the Eastern side of the map connecting Caelid and the Mountain Tops or it is in the center as you say. I always considered Liurnia to be marshy because it sits above the Lake of Rot and that would be causing the ground to sink, but I will have to look at the map as you requested and consider it. You may be right, with knowledge that we have a missing landmass (or just a hidden landmass) anything is possible. Thanks for the food for thought! The best student is the one who teaches the teacher ;)
@@JackisaMimic I think it’s also quite prevalent a precedent in regards to the geology of the lands between. For example, the “nameless” eternal city in the deep root depths sits directly beneath a section of Leyndell wherein naught but a chasm now lies, but clearly there were once massive city gates that opened up to, presumably somewhere. Keeping in line with the eternal cities, they lie underground along the cavernous paths carved out by water, wherein water still remains. Groundwater is not unusual, but I do think it’s clear across the breadth of the lands between, both above and below, that some “unnatural” geological alterations have taken place. I also think that the massive waterfall from the Bay Area to the rest of the ocean is very much a hint that this is not a natural part of the ocean. Anywho! Thanks for considering!
Oh gosh getting me started on the underground. I think there is a possibility they weren't always underground, we see many structors (from what I like to call the Black Stone Civilization) breaching up from the ground, and in some places it looks like the land itself is built into or ontop of them. This leads me to believe that the land mass we play most of the game on is artificial, and that the underground may be the original Lands Between. I don't know how it got to be underground but I don't think it always was that case, the Black Stone structors are very curious.
@@JackisaMimic exactly! We do actually have a description in game about the greater will casting a people down as a punishment for them attempting to “create their own lord.” Which the Nox very much did do.
@@JackisaMimic also, it’s quite possible that the shadow lands once spanned the breadth between where I’m suggesting all the way out to where you’re suggesting. All the way out to that weird waterfall spilling from this “bay” into the rest of the ocean beyond. Why I was trying to convey is that this feature isn’t a feature you give to oceans or seas or bays even in fantasy maps unless you’re literally letting people know that there is a waterfall there. What’s more is that you can see this waterfall from Malenia’s rune’s tower. This is why I’m suggesting that the water is all displaced water, flowing across a land that was once covered by another land. But with that land stolen away from where we are by a veil of shadow, the water of our realm flows where it can.
The gloam eyed queen was defeated but not killed by maliketh. It seems strange that an empyrians wolf could ever hope to match a potential god. We also never hear mention of TGEQ wolf. Where were they while TGEQ was defeated? What if marika and TGEQ had a battle of champions to settle their war of the empyreans once and for all and maliketh won? That might explain how TGEQ was defeated but not killed.
How did you come to the conclusion that Marika's children inherited their great rune? Doesn't the intro, the story trailer and the Two Fingers tell us that the great runes are the shards of the Elden Ring after it was shattered? How could they inherit great runes when they didn't exist in that way?
Great question! Melina says - “Upon the cliff, in Castle Stormveil, is a shardbearer. A demigod who inherited a fragment of the shattered Elden Ring.” The Demigods having their Great Runes only after the Shattering doesn’t make sense given what they tell us about their respective demigods. The Great Runes all explain something about the lineage of their Shardbearer, including their parentage (except for Godrick since he is not a child of Marika, just a descendant) For example, Morgott’s Great Rune says - “This Great Rune is the anchor ring that houses the base, and proves two things: That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage, and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell.” How can a Great Rune he received after the Shattering prove his lineage if anyone else can pick it up? Siblings have similar shaped Great Runes such as Rykard and Radahn’s or Morgott and Mohg’s. Mohg’s Great Rune says “Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.” How could twin brothers have naturally similar great runes if they got them after the shattering? How could that be natural? The text isn’t contradictory though, just because they inherited their Great Runes at birth doesn’t mean they didn’t get Shards after the Shattering that actually caused them to “go mad” Rune Arcs are described as “A shard of the shattered Elden Ring. Grants the blessing of an equipped Great Rune upon use. The lower arc of the Elden Ring is held to be the basin in which its blessings pool. Perhaps this shard originates from that very arc.” So while they would have their Great Runes at birth, they aren’t activated until the Elden Ring is shattered and they gain access to Rune Arcs. This is reflected by gameplay, your Tarnished can have a Great Rune equipped but not benefit from its power until you use a Rune Arc. This is important because it shows another wrinkle in Marika’s plan to slay the Elden Beast - the Elden Beast is the Elden Ring and Great Runes come from the Elden Ring. By storing the Great Runes in her children she is weaking the Elden Beast so she can shatter it. Then when her children go mad with power the Shattering War occurs that destabilizes the Lands Between so that our Tarnished can successfully slay the Elden Beast. If they didn’t inherit their Great Runes at birth how to explain the randomness, how can siblings have similar shaped Great Runes, why do only Marika’s children have Great Runes, and more importantly, why does Morgott lose his Omen Horns when he loses his Great Rune? Elden Ring is very orderly, there isn’t much randomness in the story or world, save for Chaos and Shabriri
@JackisaMimic Thank you for the detailed answer! I'm currently binging all your videos in release order so I apologise in advance if I might ask more questions that you may have answered in a later video already.
Oh that’s so cool! Well I hope it’s rewarding, I try to hide Easter Eggs in my videos for upcoming projects so I hope you catch them. Ask away, answering questions makes me think and reevaluate whether I am correct or not. It only can help make future videos better
11:50 ranni is not a numen tho? She is the daughter of Rennala and Radagon. Unless you argue Radagon was always Marika, which is as far as I am aware, not proven.
Enia about Great Runes -“The demigods are each and all the direct offspring of Queen Marika” Ranni has Numen heritage and genetics via the ancestral line on her mother’s side of Numen > Nox > Nightfolk > Carians and the game explicitly says in plain English “Radagon is Marika”, if Marika is a Numen then Radagon is a Numen. If there is one thing we cannot refute is that Radagon is Marika. You are going to waste your time your time trying to prove the negative “Radagon is not Marika” when there is explicit text that literally says the opposite.
This video was drafted and recorded before the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer. Please excuse the Preceptor if he missed any details from the trailer or otherwise, the Shattering has caused us all to forget some things...
Vaati and Smoughtown are the only guys I've ever purposely watched very long videos from and today I gained a new guy . I have a Big 3 now
I feel honored, thank you!
Lol Preceptor Mimicus is without flaw or error! How dare you call into question his certainties! I’m quite sure Marika plucked the rune of dementia from the Elden ring as well, so there’s nothing to worry over!
Actually stopped by to ask if the DLC has changed / strengthened your argument here.
This will be the ONLY time in life you will ever find me being excited to attend a 3hr+ lecture
JACKIVUS! big cat here
What do you say to my proposal that we pronounce the name Eiglay like "Egg Lay" ??? Because of the theory that the different factions of Elden Ring have different methods of reproduction. Erdtree faction grows people on the tree, Demi humans reproduce sexually, etc. So why wouldn't Rykard's serpentine birthing rituals involve Laying Eggs? That's how snakes do it! We know Miyazaki loves names that use wordplay. And I guess Miquella is in an egg too, but probably unrelated.
My biggest takeaways from this lesson:
-Rennala is a lot like Helen of Troy, as a continent-spanning war was fought so Radagon could marry her.
-Rykard is a lot like the OG Kratos! Trying to kill the entire Pantheon of gods (My new favorite character! I wish for a Kill All Gods ending)
-Jack you're like Gandalf in the beginning of Fellowship, returning from his studies on the Ring to save the world with information LOL I spent at least ten hours watching and rewinding to rewatch this video, & I'll probably do the same with all your vids!
Jesus Christ, a 4 hours long video essay about a game i never played??? Sign me in!
fix that soon bro
I was looking forward to this. Loving this style of presentation. Not just because it is comical, but also because it actually works.
Let me know what you think if you get through the whole thing!
Perfect timing on the wait for the trailer
Wow can I say how refreshing and unique your content is as someone that loves the lore of Elden Ring?! You got me crying too when you were talking about Rennala losing Ranni. 😭Love your content.
Thank you! You and I were crying together, happy that I could pull on your heart strings with my interpretations of the story of this piece of art we both love!
I lost my child last week. My sweet Arya. Now she weaves her night into being, eternally. 💜😭
"Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better."
Prayers for Arya.
Im so sorry.
3 hour video on a day I have to drive all day for work? Blessing me🙏🏽
It's like you picked up a hitchhiker who can't shut up about Elden Ring
"Jesus was a tarnished" you got me sobbing at work and suddenly make me laugh
The Elden Ring was the laughs and tears we shared along the way! Glad I could pull on your heart strings like this game does to mine lol
To have your comment considered for Q&A include the code phrase "big cat" in your comment, as well as a timestamp if there is a specific thing I said you are referring to. If I haven't featured a comment of yours from a previous video yet it doesn't mean I won't, as you can tell by the length of this video I have been busy.
Love the theming you have going on here. Professorial lecture style fits perfectly with this topic. Great work!
Much like the wear upon the shield, the Seat of the Sun is long faded away."
The seat of the sun referenced, to me, only makes me think that Godwyn the Golden had a throne at the foot of the Erdtree, along with Miquella, Malenia, Ranni, Rykard, and Radahn (, and Godrick).
Wow I hadn’t considered that! This why I love this community, we pool our minds together and can come up with great things. Phenomenal observation!
The stars have aligned it seemed! Happy you enjoyed the video, so excited that we’re getting a trailer so soon!
Well you were at least half right, DLC trailer tomorrow lol
i am SAT. notebook and quill OUT.
im also excited to see your thoughts about the shadow of the erdtree trailer! in the trailer it is stated by an unknown npc (referring to "that forsaken place") that "blood must spill. the blood of your fellows." which got me thinking back to when you mentioned mohg's palace being underneath radahn's battlefield, in one of the miquella lore videos. i think you hit the nail on the head with the prediction that miquella needs blood (not just his own) to nourish his tree!!
Man, you're really good at this. I enjoy it a lot! Thank you
Happy you enjoyed the video, I had so much fun making this! My goal is to immerse people in the world of Elden Ring as much as I feel like I am by doing more than just telling you the lore.
this was super interesting and also super heartwarming!
Big Cat
I guess.
Your genuine conveying of emotion really sells this. Fantastic work.
I will never stay focused all the time for a 3 and a half hour video unless it is about Elden Ring Lore. What a narration ! Jack is a mimic !! Superb video, please keep more coming. I am going to watch your video on shadow of the erdtree !
12:14 - haha I fear the elden ring DLC news might reduce the promotion of this great high-effort video.
That’s okay, I put Shadow of the Erdtree in the Miquella video title 😉
The people will find their way here.
They will know the foolishness of
the sneering sorcerers who ridiculed this theory, little realizing
that it was in fact a discovery worthy of a new conspectus of the
academy.”
Don’t be one of those foolish sneering fools, put respect on ole Thops’ name!
Do it my universe? haha The Jack Is A Mimic Elden Ring Cinematic Universe is underway!
Some ppl are just better at this TH-cam stuff than everyone else.. amazing vid & channel man
In the first half I thought you were telling me to give up lol. Thank you for the support I appreciate it!
Rykard was never the same after he started using perfumes. He just wasn't that happy kid anymore. Somber but happy.
It was so sad when Radagon found him huffing Uplifting Aromatic behind the Caria Manor
@@JackisaMimic we just don't talk enough about buff abuse in this realm. It would go a long way to destigmatizing the outreach for help.
This was fantastic! It's a great way to immerse the viewer into the world, and I really enjoyed it. I will say, however, you completely missed the opportunity to play off Luna's interrupting as Lacrima, the faerie spirit-cat who exists in Raya Lucarian legends.
Haha that would have been a good idea! Luna is a legend all her own though!
wow, thank you, this was so much fun to watch! it really helped seeing the bigger picture! i dont have a huge knowledge of the lore but i know that there seems to be a big emphasis on yin-yang / duality... and it made me look at the elden ring family tree and look for a possible twin-sibling among the rennala+radagon kids. my first thought was that renna could be twin sister to ranni but i dont think that makes much sense. also, could messmer be the twin brother of someone? keep up the good work jack! hope your channel gets more attention soon
Preceptor my homework is late. I will look forward to your analysis of the DLC trailer thank you for your continued dedication to the lore.
@@JackisaMimic SmoughTown mainly uses Elden Ring tracks in his hours long lore videos for the game if you wanted an example to work off of
Thanks for the heads up! Let me know if the music selection is better in the next one, no joke! Feedback is the best way to improve!
Fantastic video from start to finish! I guess my only point of disagreement comes in the Marika is Radagon part. While I definitely agree that they are the same being, the personalities seems to be distinct (glad you eluded to it tho):
-Radagon seemed to highly disagree with Marika when it came to destroying the Elden Ring with his desperate attempt to repair it.
I ain’t never had a class this dope, Preceptor is dope af
Wow, Rennala is kinda like Helen of Troy!
Immediate like, as researching the lore of the game ALWAYS felt to me like I was an sorcerer reading books in the academy, and here you are sharing that fantasy. Taking notes, professor, thanks for the enlightenment [ erudition gesture ] [ nod gesture ].
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed the video, I thought this would be a fun way to talk about the lore and Im glad you agree!
OH MY GOD, Jack!! I was watching this video on my television while eating a late dinner, and I only pulled up TH-cam on my phone to recap chapter 3 of your Eclipse/Miquella video and I saw it…
Shadow of the Erdtree trailer is dropping TOMORROW!!!
Hahah you’re good! Have a happy birthday tomorrow and I hope your week gets better!
3 hours of lore lets gooo

Really enjoyed this style of presentation, looking forward for more lectures from Preceptor Jackivus!
Jackivus Mimicus is like Faramir: reflective, wise, conscientious, loyal, learned in lore.
I wish I paid attention to my college lectures like I do with this.
This commitment to the bit of you reciting these things as if you were doing an actual lecture is admirable
The berserk references are a bit much early on imo, dark souls relied on Berserk a lot more than ER did.
Love the in-universe lecture,
very unique format of lore video
And putting in G.R.R.Martin ,Hidetaka Miazaki & even berserks author Kentaro Miura as other scholars was great .
Thanks to you Jackavus Mimicus & also to your beast regent Luna
Ohh 3.5 hours of well researched lore... instant sub.
He seems to be linked to the flames in Elden Ring.
love the lecture approach & all the new insights you bring! keep it up! 🎉

Hey great work. I really enjoyed the presentation, any fumbles just made it feel more authentic. Keep it up!
Awesome video man. Keep the lectures coming. New student on board 🎉
this is by far the most fun to watch elden ring lore video
Thank you! That’s really high praise!
We need you to do a theory video on the DLC trailer, you might have been right about Miquella
Oh don't worry I want to! This three minute trailer has a lot of stuff in it and will take time to parse what we are looking at!
This is making me nostalgic for university lol. Good times
Great video as always
Your essay on the Life of Rykard is due by Midnight so get to it
This is awesome.
This student has done their homework! Thank you for taking notes during the lecture, someone with a mind like yours will get far in this world!
i love the role play this video is goated exited to see more! you are a wonderful narrator
When you finish the video let me know what you think!
It's not that strange, or rather, it's very telling that they wear this, for the same reason as you pointed out about the "serpent strangling the erdtree":
The stitches symbolize their vow of silence surrounding regression; Radagon and Marika.
Cheers! Thanks for the reply m8, looking forward to the sequel :)) @@JackisaMimic

Happy you liked the video! This was my favorite to make, and I want to do another “class” after we playing the DLC!
I've never thought of this myself and never heard anyone else bring it up either, but it really reinforces all the motifs at play!)
I enjoyed learning from the Preceptor as well. He seems like a passionate educator even if he is a bit opinionated. :)
The Preceptor is well versed in Carian Retaliation and has no fear in being opinionated within the halls of the Academy. It is a place of learning, regardless what the Stone Heads with their glinstone crowns think ;)
hmmm his skin is suspiciously smooth…
Lots of interesting theories, but sometimes you are reinventing the lore too much to fill the gaps. But well put together thx.

Yeah, I got time
I personally think the Renala's wedding weapon is Full Moon Greatsword or it is just the Moonlight Greatsword as how strong Renala is tied to Full Moon Magic is.
They may have burned our books, destroyed our cities, and killed our people but as sure as night turns to day the Sun Realm will rise again!
Are you gonna do a dlc trailer analysis?

I posit, the Carians did have some effect on war with Fire Giants. We are told at some point that it was the defection of the trolls that lead to the defeat of the giants. Perhaps it is these trolls that the Carians made a pact with.
--
It has always been in my mind that Marika didn’t actually have any issue against the fire giants other than wanting control of the Flame of Ruin.
Just calling it as I see them:
exposure to Glintstone turns your body into Glintstone, exposure to the Primeval Current REALLY turned Lusat and Azure into Glintstone, the Crystallians are fully Crystal, and they have a long standing oath with the anti-Primeval current faction the Carians.
If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck y’know
Plus it feels in line with themes both Miyazaki and GRRM like: greed and desire for power turning you in human
Awesome vid
We do actually have a description in game about the greater will casting a people down as a punishment for them attempting to “create their own lord.”
Which the Nox very much did do.
Banger alert.

I just noticed, but are those stars on your tie?
Yay! 129th student in attendance. Thinking cap on! 🧐 ✨
Currently, I think the GEQ and Marika are the same person. Not different personalities, but titles.
A demigod who inherited a fragment of the shattered Elden Ring.”
The Demigods having their Great Runes only after the Shattering doesn’t make sense given what they tell us about their respective demigods.
The Great Runes all explain something about the lineage of their Shardbearer, including their parentage (except for Godrick since he is not a child of Marika, just a descendant)
For example, Morgott’s Great Rune says - “This Great Rune is the anchor ring that houses the base, and proves two things:
That the Omen King was born of the golden lineage, and that he was indeed the Lord of Leyndell.”
How can a Great Rune he received after the Shattering prove his lineage if anyone else can pick it up?
Siblings have similar shaped Great Runes such as Rykard and Radahn’s or Morgott and Mohg’s. Mohg’s Great Rune says “Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.”
How could twin brothers have naturally similar great runes if they got them after the shattering? How could that be natural?
The text isn’t contradictory though, just because they inherited their Great Runes at birth doesn’t mean they didn’t get Shards after the Shattering that actually caused them to “go mad”
Rune Arcs are described as “A shard of the shattered Elden Ring.
Grants the blessing of an equipped Great Rune upon use.
The lower arc of the Elden Ring is held to be the basin in which its blessings pool.
Perhaps this shard originates from that very arc.”
So while they would have their Great Runes at birth, they aren’t activated until the Elden Ring is shattered and they gain access to Rune Arcs.

Tenure is warranted with strength.
The things I’d do for a pension 😂
Could the dark moon be the eclipse?
11:50 ranni is not a numen tho? She is the daughter of Rennala and Radagon. Unless you argue Radagon was always Marika, which is as far as I am aware, not proven.
Enia about Great Runes -“The demigods are each and all the direct offspring of Queen Marika”
Ranni has Numen heritage and genetics via the ancestral line on her mother’s side of Numen > Nox > Nightfolk > Carians and the game explicitly says in plain English “Radagon is Marika”, if Marika is a Numen then Radagon is a Numen.
If there is one thing we cannot refute is that Radagon is Marika. You are going to waste your time your time trying to prove the negative “Radagon is not
Marika” when there is explicit text that literally says the opposite.
