Am I the only one who has bought a kastmaster in the last couple years, to find out that they don't really sink anymore? Even on a slow retrieve, they are top water lures now days. Lame
I buy lots kastmasters every year and I use the 3/4 n 1 oz and they sink. They make rattling ones and there lighter but I think they all sink. Never heard of a floating kastmaster?
No king salmon again. Year 2 drought
NO salmon season and looks like NO sturgeon either.
Another outstanding job keeping us dialed in. I appreciate your honesty and look forward to next week’s report.
Thank you! And it's been a tough week for me and lots of pleasure boats out this 4th of July week!
@@AlanFong not to mention hot hot and hotter
👋👍
Thanks!
Hi Alan. Thank you for the report. At Berryessa, were you fishing the main body of the lake? Thank you
Yes I was out by Big Island
👍👍👍👍👍👍🎣🎣🐬🐬🐋🐋🐋🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Alan. Thanks for the tip on leader length too. Catching more Kings than before.😁
No problem 👍 good to hear it helping
Thanks Allen! Thanks again for offering on the water help! It’s been so much more productive!
Happy to help!
Hey Alan, beginner bass fisherman here. I usually do well the first few hours following sunrise, but then really have to grind once the sun and heat come out. I think my problem is that I don't know how to catch them once they go deeper to escape the heat. Aside from dropshotting, I don't really know how to get them to bite. What lures/techniques should I learn to use in order to catch more bass when it gets hot? Fishing the sloughs of the delta BTW. Thank you in advance!!
Fishing the delta since 1969 and have seen all the changes thru out the years. Especially this time of the year as temperatures climb into the seventies. Most Delta bass stay shallow all year around. When the water warms up they move into heavy cover and current as the water temp is cooler under the mats. Get out your punching gear and stay shallow. I did a punching video with Future Pro Tour and you can still see it on their website.
@@AlanFong Thank you for your wisdom! I will check out that video
Happy 4th! What jigs do you use for crappies at Berryessa. I can’t catch them unless I have minnows.
Keitec 2.5 n 3" work the best and berkley gulp minnows
Happy 4th.. I fell over laughing at Dylan playing with His food.. ROFLMFAO
Yea it was funny and both of them love to fish n hunt
I hauled my boat up to Lake Crawley for the past week. The lake is full of green sludge and I ended up just leaving my boat in the slip for the week. It looks dead? , is that normal for that lake? It seems the reports from the business there is neglecting to mention the issue....
Denise was their for a week and did pretty good on the perch. I'll have her answer your question
I went to union valley in may . It was real windy and picked up one . Not my favorite lake .
It was tough as the bite was early and lasted for hour hooking ten koks and my grandkids lost most of them. The three they did land were nice size but it just went dead. Didn't graph many at all!
Happy 4 th . Thanks nice catch
Thanks! This 4th week has been tough for us!
Thanks
i got exactly same unit hds 12 pro, I'm new to these electronics. Do you think its good for saltwater fishing with 3 in 1 transducer like yours? What setting do you think its good for rockfish around 600 ft deep?
Yes it will work fine. Use the 2D sonar and 200kh for frequency. Put the sensitivity in manual and run it high until you get a good reading.
15” fish at Bullards, yea right, have to see it to believe it because all the reports are saying small fish still and up to 13”. Also in Stampede fishing has slowed down and fish remain small, under 15”. Whiskeytown most consistent for Kokes.
I saw the pictures and Troy had some nice koks. Thats what I said about the 15" koks at Bullards but I saw the pics. Troy is one of the best at catching koks around these parts lol
NICE!!!!!
Thanks!!
YEAH-BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!
Catch lots big lings shallow in the fall doing this method
can i still catch shad on the american river coming into july?
It's really slowed up but yes you can if you from sunrise up
Do you ever dead stick tube style baits for Kokanee or would you say jigging traditional buzz bombs etc is better?
No I haven't and I catch lots kokanee late in the season jigging small spoons
J u tow❤
Always loved rancho seco 🤟
Used to fish there all the time. Caught lots of big bass in there back in the days.
I always watch the water❤ loveu 😊
Might me helpful to let folks know where to find on the radial dial. Love the reports.
I mention it all the time 1140 on the AM dial
Dam bro wish i could go fishing with you.
Gotta get in line lol I've been so busy doing my electronics consulting. I'm on the water five days a week the last two months. Go to my website info@alanfongoutdoors.com see what I offer
I listen to you every drill morning on my way in. Used to listen to old boy bob sims on the 650 but he kinda dissed us a bit. Won’t get into details but know yall got a lot of friends that listen to you on the way into drill.
Thanks for listening and Bob n I are good friends also
Thanks guys I appreciate your reports and other information!!!
Thanks for watching!
Keep hearing how great Kokanee fishing is on whiskey town lake. But everyone I talked to on the lake says it skimpy at best.
It's a little to far for me but a lot of my friends have been going there and doing very well. Last couple years it's been very good with nice size koks.
When I was a little kid, the family went down to Sac River Deep Water Channel. Everyone's pole was in the water and it was dark by then. My mom said to my dad ..was that news report about the tide? Dad answers no, they were talking about the SF Giants game being tied. Famous last words as dad waded in shin deep water to reel in the poles.
Thats one way to learn lol
Hi Alan, I've been fishing those dirt canals out between Los Banos and Dos Palos Y in the general area of Highway 152 for close to 50 years. I've caught a lot of fish out there. Do you think there would be any type of audience that would be interested in me going into details about the structures that are hangouts for all kinds of nice sized fish of all sorts? I hardly see anyone fishing out there anymore. Do you think other fishermen may think canal fishing is beneath them? Just for an example, my son and I were fishing on a weir in a dirt canal, and we caught 7 keeper sized bass in that one spot. None of my acquaintances would ever fish with me, but one day, one of them was tired of not being able to find a place where his seven year old son could catch fish. We fished the canals from 5 pm to dusk and caught over 25 catfish 2-5 lbs. ( we released them all). Most of those were in 1 spot. They were biting when we left because the mosquitos ran us off. p.s I only casted out once that at another hot spot and nailed a 20 in striper. Do you think people would fish out there if they knew what I knew? I just discovered your channel, so thanks for that.
Who is that lady with you? Thought maybe she dumped you or retired! Lol. Great to see your report out on the water!
Thats Denise lol If anything I dumped her lol
👍
Thanks both
Alan you need to introduce your co-host. I have maybe seen her at tackle warehouse. But not everyone. I'll never get tired of listening to you. Fishing is kind of like baseball. Good stories
Thats Denise the gal I did most of the videos with. After I retired and started my electronics consulting I've been crazy busy teaching people how to use their fishfinders.
This whole sturgeon fishing thing has turned into a mess .They would be stupid to not make it at least catch and release. If they close it down completely think about all the businesses that would suffer. They would loose a ton of money .Like you said they had that meeting way far away to where people didn’t want to drive there let alone have to work. Why not have it on a Saturday centrally located where everyone can go.On top of that they didn’t start talking about sturgeon till 4:30.What a joke .
Location, time and day of these meetings are set up so no one can go! I think the wrong people are in office relating to these issues. Looks like they want to take all of our fishing and hunting away here in California????????
@@AlanFong your 100% right .
Good report Alan , nice to see you on Folsom lake parking lot. It Eddie whit the Duckworth boat ,
Yea nice talking to you, always good to see people at the boat ramps and on the water. When you guys see me come by and say hello and talk fishing.
I fished with Raul Rich Al N Alex for halibut. One Halibut two strips take home. It was choppy I never tossed a lure….five guys on the boat…. Best Day Of Fishing This Year…A Fun Group Of Guys To Fish With. Rich Rod told me a little story about you Fong. You R 2 Cool Kid.. Even way back N the day.
👍
Pointers for bass fishing on the delta?
Water temps are getting into the seventies now so I'll look for sparse weeds and current. The bass are shallow feeding in weeds feeding on crawdads. Current is the key
Where are the carp biting?
I don't target them but in the delta in the back of the sloughs is whee I would look. In most lakes you can probably catch them now.
Thanks for your report
Welcome hope info helps
How about bank fishing
Water temps are warming up fast so it depends what fish you are trying to catch? From the bank now Sac River catching small stripers. Lakes bluegill, bass and catfish.
How about bank fishing
Great to see you both out there.
Thanks 👍
Turn on radio at 6:00 am Saturday for California Sportsmens radio. 😀

What would cause a voltage on a downrigger cable? Especially a manual one?
You can get a electrical charge off wire cable on an electric or manual DR. Not sure but I use a voltmeter set on DC lowest setting and ground black lead to boat and put red (positive) side on cable while your trolling and get the reading. If negative you have a hot boat. Best is half volt
I know these videos are from a while back, but I wanted to thank you. The videos are very informative. You deliver the content in a manner that beginners to advance can understand
You're very welcome! I've done a lot of videos in the past and I try to explain everything very simple so people can understand.
GRANDPA TAKE ME FISHINGGGGG
OK pretty soon well go
Thanks again Alan really like your channel. Quick question what would you recommend for a Kokanee rod. And do you use a different rod when fishing while using lead core off the back of the boat vs on a down rigger?
Lots manufactures make kokanee rods. There are usually light action with parabolic bend so it can be loaded up in the DR. I prefer 7 ft and 7'9" to 8ft as I stack n use the 7' for the top rod. For lead core I use a little heavier rod and prefer fiberglass as it more flexiable. I'm using a 7' cranking rod designed for bass fishing.
