Hey Alan, beginner bass fisherman here. I usually do well the first few hours following sunrise, but then really have to grind once the sun and heat come out. I think my problem is that I don't know how to catch them once they go deeper to escape the heat. Aside from dropshotting, I don't really know how to get them to bite. What lures/techniques should I learn to use in order to catch more bass when it gets hot? Fishing the sloughs of the delta BTW. Thank you in advance!!
Fishing the delta since 1969 and have seen all the changes thru out the years. Especially this time of the year as temperatures climb into the seventies. Most Delta bass stay shallow all year around. When the water warms up they move into heavy cover and current as the water temp is cooler under the mats. Get out your punching gear and stay shallow. I did a punching video with Future Pro Tour and you can still see it on their website.
It was tough as the bite was early and lasted for hour hooking ten koks and my grandkids lost most of them. The three they did land were nice size but it just went dead. Didn't graph many at all!
I hauled my boat up to Lake Crawley for the past week. The lake is full of green sludge and I ended up just leaving my boat in the slip for the week. It looks dead? , is that normal for that lake? It seems the reports from the business there is neglecting to mention the issue....
Thanks Allen! Thanks again for offering on the water help! It’s been so much more productive!
Happy to help!

Happy 4th! What jigs do you use for crappies at Berryessa. I can’t catch them unless I have minnows.
Keitec 2.5 n 3" work the best and berkley gulp minnows

Thanks!
