Hey Alan, I just got new cannon 5 electric downrigger's to replace my old ones for kokanee fishing. The new ones go down so fast that my rod line often come off the clip on the way down. Is there anyway of slowing them down? Can you also slow them down on the retrieve? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks1
If the line is releasing off the clip you should put it deeper in the clip. Cannon DR are motor down and there slow. Your problem is the release clip. I've had issues with scotty releases and there is a way to adjust the tension on most releases. If it was going down to fast the dodger would get tangled on the DR cable. You can pause it every ten feet as your letting it down but their is no way to slow it down.

I've been kokanee fishing every week at Berryessa, Bullards, Union Valley and Pardee. In every lake I am NOT graphing very many koks. The bite has been very good early at all the lakes graphing lots fish the first hour. After that I am not graphing anything. At every lake the surface water temp has been in the high eighties and the koks are hugging the bottom and I'm not graphing anything.

Yes there are land lock kings in Stampede Lake. I have never fished for them in there.
