Tesla Model 3 Performance - Good or Gimmick?
Can a Model 3 really be a competitor to BMW's M3, M2, or Audi's RS models? Tesla certainly thinks so, and in this video, John Marcar spends 7 days with the Model 3 Performance to determine if Tesla has produced something genuinely competitive or something of a gimmick.

in Australia we cant get a plaid. So I got a 2024 Model 3 Performance (black on black) as a daily and its the the best daily and probably one of the quickest cars in my garage. As a daily, I decided to change the white/creamish pillars to alcantara to match the side door panels, red seatbelts, upgrade focal sound system (even though the stock sound system is quite good). These minor changes make the car the perfect daily.

I just purchased a 2025 Ultra Red M3P w/ FSD and don't regret it one bit, it is an amazing car! I was looking at similarly priced CPO m850's and when it comes to "bang for your buck", the Tesla wins. Although I can't deny that the BMW V8 sounds SO GOOD, sound aside, however, the Tesla M3P wins in nearly every category.

Where is that? In the US it goes for $45.490 if you get the Stealth Grey and black interior because it stays just below the $55,000 price to qualify for the $7,500 rebate. But if you get any other other option such as the $2,000 red exterior or white interior you lose that $7,500. But it's no where near $91,427.

Your brain isn’t used to remembering inputs based on muscle memory or more your brain has been trained to think in an analogue way. The younger generation is more used to this type of thing… I guess. I wish I had one as a second car, after my Model Y Performance. The compromises of the Model Y are just perfect for me - the Model 3 is a bit small. But as a second car, perfect (for me). I bought my Tesla new in August 2023, and I now have over 20,000 miles on it. I also still have my Infiniti M37, but I have not driven it for over a year since I bought the Model Y. Which means I have no use for a gas car either. I haven't even ridden my BMW K1300s motorcycle since I got the Tesla. Plenty of speed in the MYP. In fact, the MYP is faster than the old BMW K100RS I owned from 1985 to 2015. In Europe, you don't yet get FSD, and I'm hooked on that feature. It's a great driver assistant, but it's still not robotaxi-capable. But even today FSD routinely drives me everywhere, and it rarely has a problem (in Arizona). And yes, it's cautious. My new M3P is best car I have ever driven....pre tesla i owned 5 bmws over the years. Try FSD for a month and you will never want a car without it. It is insanely good. I have had fsd for 3 years, and the latest (12.5.6.3) is out of this world good. 10x better than i can drive. 10x safer than a human. FSD is Tesla's gigantic advantage in the auto market place. At $100k here in the US, this car would be a tremendous stretch for me so the option of keeping one as a weekend car or garage queen, just isnt an option. Lots I love about this car but the reality of owning one as my daily driver as me thinking hard about the Cayman as a potentially better option. Not as stunning visually and not as "special" perhaps, but overall more livabale. Others may be okay with the compromises of the Lotus, and I totally respect (perhaps even envy) that choice. I was born in '71 so the wild Koenig specials and the like of the 80's still resonate with me. This is an interesting design, pretty wild and yet elegant. That's not an easy mix to pull off. The interior is gorgeous and who wouldn't love a supercharged V12? TWR seem to have a small but great team. I hope they sell all 88 examples. I'd certainly be a customer if I had the means!

This car is for the Individual , which is good enough for me....Show stopping looks , unique , exotic , sounds excellent , then we have 660 brake v12 Supercharged. Ye....Decent !

We also had the luxury of hearing it run and rev (sadly not on a day we were able to film it) and it sounded SPECTACULAR!

Absolutely agree with this conclusion. I just ordered mine after a fantastic test drive. Easily the best car I've ever had the pleasure of driving and the tahiti blue interior looks great. Love it. Plus, I have an android phone so great comparison.
