Amy is almost abit greedy in wanting to have her cake and eat it too. She has defenitely taken Rory for granted for along time and im glad she got abit of a rude awakening. She needed that and Rory deserved that recognition.

This is such a fun episode. At the beginning, I'm 100% convinced that the Upper Leadworth life is obviously the dream, but then I start to doubt to it the more they spend in the Tardis. So clever. Really nice to see Amy and Rory's relationship take a turn for the better.

10:13 I'm dead LMFAOOOOOOO. This episode is awesome, really made me love Amy and Rory's relationship! Since Agents of SHIELD I never really liked any relationship as much as a certain one they had for that show, but Doctor Who decided to try to get into my ranks. The way Amy just got so numb when Rory died really hits you hard. This Dream Lord thing, with the villain basically being the Doctor himself, was soooooooo interesting. I think this is one of the most memorables Doctor Who episodes. Very deep and has some great comedy at the start. The guy saying good morning to the people with eyes on their mounth was so funny, I didn't remember that. Amazing reaction, especially the "run them over bit", honestly. That was so funny.

I really really love the exploration of the Doctor's self loathing in this episode, particularly as someone who's struggled with it for a long time I think this really just hits something. Also love some of that mental health humour sprinkled in. Honestly I just love this episode.

Loved our girl going full-on 'Death Race 2000' for the whole 2nd half of the episode. Makes me a little glad she's driving in another country...

Remember this episode. Rory is awesomeness. And Amy does know it, as scared as she is of the commitment and a steady life.

I really like this one - as you say, I think it pretty much boxes off the potential love triangle element of it all, which I was definitely in favour of them doing sooner, rather than later. My interpretation of the Dream Lord was that he was mostly a manifestation of the Doctor's darkness (after all, the Doctor has a lot more of it built up than Amy or Rory) but that the psychic pollen probably drew on Rory's insecurities when the Dream Lord was being critical of him, and similarly drawing on Amy's guilt around kissing the Doctor when goading her about that. Toby Jones is a fantastic actor - I think that most of us would be keen to see him pop up more often. I'd highly recommend a TV movie called 'Marvellous' if you've never seen it and you're ever in the mood for something uplifting - Jones plays the main character in that, and knocks it out of the park in a completely different way. I think it's free to watch on Prime. There's another Doctor Who S5 guest star in it, too.

I won't spoil whether or not you'll see that pool in a future episode, but we had at this point seen a swimming pool in the Tardis in a classic story from the 1970s... unfortunately, it just looked like a swimming pool in some building somewhere!

There was an episode of Red Dwarf where the characters were to be judged... It turned out that they were to judge themselves... Exploring the idea that we are our own worst critics. I feel that this episode hints at that in the case of the doctor... "There is only one person in the universe who hates me this much!" A great performance from Toby Jones in this episode too... Thanks for all these reactions. D

I personally felt a lot of guilt during my initial viewing of this episode. I really loved everything about it and it dawned on me how quickly I had moved on. I had known for a while, but there is a reason that David Tennant is the 10th Doctor, he was perfect. But there was just something about this Doctor and this TARDIS crew, normally there is a mourning period a need to go through the 5 stages and for David it should have been a loooong long time, but Matt got me, he got me when he realized he was not a girl and "still not ginger"....... They always get the Doctor right.... we can complain about all the stuff we want to, but they always get the Doctor and the Companions right. in my opinion....

Rory is a fantastic addition to the crew. He balances Amy and the Doctor's craziness quite well. I love this Tardis trio. I also love the next episode because it really solidifies the relationship dynamics between our main characters. Also you were right about The Doctor and Rosanna having great chemistry. The 11th Doctor seems to have a thing for older women 🤣

Maybe David is the best but we have to consider that Matt was 26 when he took the role of the Doctor… he is incredibly talented. His acting is top tier. I remember watching this with my colleges in London when he took the job and we were sceptical… yet the very first episode confirmed… he IS the Doctor. No House of Dragon can change that.

This was the episode that elevated Rory for me as not just another Mickey type boyfriend (though Mickey did get better eventually), to a solid dude. He calls the Doctor on his shit and the Doctor doesn't mistreat him either. I never liked that dynamic between both Eccleston and Tennant with Mickey in the first 2 season's.

You may find that maybe the case of Doctor Who fans. We tend to extol the past worry about the future. Condemn the present.. I will just say this. Amy always speaks her mind and tells her truth. Amy was very specific in what she told the Doctor in her bedroom. If we choose to ignore Amy, maybe that falls on us? Remember to enjoy the ride, you only get to see this for the 1st time once.

To be the last of your species can't be an easy thing to deal with, and for hundreds of millions of years there has been that last member of a species calling for a mate and the call not being answered. The Doctor... lots is made of him being the last Timelord, yet the Master has been cropping up in Doctor Who since the very early 70s, so I never really bought into the myth that the Doctor was the last of his kind because he obviously isn't. All species become extinct, but ours is the first to do it willingly by destroying our own habitat. No surprise that some of us regress coz it's all too silly.

And Rory joins the TARDIS team! That's the first time you properly see a TARDIS team that isn't just the Doctor and a single companion isn't it? That was a very interesting dynamic for me who, at the point I was watching that episode, didn't expect or knew that the Doctor had multiples companions at once, because that's not like the Martha and Donna thing where the Doctor accidentely travelled with both of them, but he's letting a second companion in, to go along with them and that's interesting. Also, "Vampires" in Venice, who knew? I wonder why they left that part out of the history books. Great reaction as always, I don't really expect anything less coming from you based on what I've seen so far. I had a good time with this one and I can't wait for more. Sorry for being late, tho. Life sometimes get in the way of fun.

So many opinions about who is/was the best Doctor. I gave up on Doctor Who after Capaldi left, but of those that came before I think David Tennant did it best, though I was disappointed Ecclestone only gave it a year before leaving. The first time the Weeping Angels appeared in 'Blink' (Tennant as the Doctor) was a superb episode. I never really liked Matt Smith but his silly nonsense was easy to ignore because he had such a good supporting cast. Amy, Rory and River, with Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax appearing from time to time, all made Smith's Doctor episodes much more enjoyable and because of them there are many wonderful episodes. I have many of the old series from the 60s and 70s on DVD too, back when a story ran over several weeks rather than the stand alone episodes they do now, and each week we were left with a dramatic moment to make us tune in the following week. I only just found your channel so am watching out of order. Did you cover the first four series?

The Show was better with Rory in it.

Though Matt's my favorite Doctor, this isn't one of my favorite episodes. I love that you mentioned David Tennant in Casanova. That was the first thing I'd ever seen him in. I had no idea who he was at the time. I watched the show for Peter O'Toole, one of my favorite actors.

Yay! Rory has arrived - this is now my favourite Tardis team. I've always enjoyed how Rory doesn't just join the Doctor fanclub and calls him out on how he makes people jump into danger to impress him in this episode. The Doctor can regenerate if he ends up in a sticky situation - human companions are more fragile. Personally, I think the Doctor was partly right about Amy's behaviour at the end of the last episode being because he was the one who was there - she spent most of Flesh & Stone seconds away from death, and who knows how that would mess with your head. Not that it makes it right. The other part is like you say - the Doctor left a huge impression on Amy when she was young, so that's definitely a factor, too. Poor Rory. You are right - tough conversations need to be had. I'm also really enjoying your theorising about the crack in time/space and why it keeps appearing everywhere they go.

I really like Rory standing up for himself and calling out The Doctor. He is completely right too, The Doctor is very often careless and showboaty and his companions tend to follow his lead and act the same to impress him, that was very apparent with Rose for example.

I loathed Amy at this point. My attitude changed but it took some doing. Rory is awesomeness. And quite wise. I like a companion not in awe of the doctor.
