Two Scottish girls saying “good for them!” At the same time! 😄. I could see flashes of the ninth doctor in 11 in this episode. Matt Smith watched all the doctors prior to filming. He’s got some elements of some classic doctors in his performance as well (most notably the second doctor). As I said last time, the doctor is always the doctor. He’s 11, but you will see parts of other doctors as well because they are all him.

I laughed at myself when editing that bit🙈
I love actors that do their research! I really appreciated that comment the last time, helped me understand it all better. Now, that you mentioned it I can totally see the ninth doctor! Thanks for the comment!💖

Underrated, this one, in my opinion.
The atmosphere around the ship was very dystopian, the mystery is very cool, and I like that Amy gets the chance to be the one to save the day.
You get the first glimpse of the darkness that sits just under the surface of Eleven's cheerful exterior too towards the end too, which I like.

I agree, I thought it was a really interesting, well done episode!
I was so happy to see Eleven’s darkness and watching Matt Smith’s portrayal of it.

I agree. It is interesting how reminiscent this one is to The fires of Pompei, where the companion gets dealt an impossible choice on their first real adventure.

Haha I love how the first thing you notice is the lack of Scottish cities!! The best part of a Scottish showrunner and a Scottish companion lol. I'm a big fan of this episode.

When this doctor gets angry, its so impactful because you just dont expect this fun loving, more qwerky Doctor to be so angry. So when he does, it makes such an impact.
The subtle facial expressions he makes too as if hes hiding his anger at times is also something that stands out to me with this Doctor.
Also, think its important to note that before he met Amy, he was traveling alone which is never good for him. That could be why he was more angry with Amy for lying to him. He becomes more a god when hes alone and less understanding to humanity.

The thing I always appreciated about Matt is that 11s anger always came off as genuine. With 10 it always felt like the anger was fronted to make a point; to teach a lesson “the man who never would, shut down a street full of drug dealers” just a front. But with 11 it felt like his blood was genuinely boiling and he was fighting a darker nature.

I totally get what you mean, Matt Smith is doing an excellent job.
Oh, that is a brilliant point! I forgot he had been alone for a while.
      Thanks for the interesting comment💖

@Dalwan_Kenobi I think I will need to watch more of Matt to do a comparison because I always really felt 10s anger. I will keep this comment in mind as I continue to watch!😊

Yay, I’ve been waiting for this video. 😊
“I’m the bloody Queen, mate. Basically, I rule.” I love that line.
There’s so much I want to say, but… spoilers! Let’s just say that all your questions in the intro will be answered in upcoming episodes.

At one point, much later, Rory points out to Amy that their finds have noticed them aging faster than they should.

Just discovered your channel and loving it. Just a note on a couple of things that you touched on I was a big fan of David Tennant and after 3 years when he left I was beside myself and had decided I was not going to like any doctor they tried to shove off on me. However by the end of Matt's first episode he was my new doctor . Never thought that would happen. I kind of went through the same thing with amy, however she had me wrapped around her little finger by the end of the second episode. Go figure...

Thanks for watching!💖 Ok, so we are on the same boat, you just boarded sooner than I did🤣 I am enjoying Smith, so I’m glad I started back with it. I love Amy too. At the moment Tennant and Rose are my favourite so will just wait to see if that changes in the future! Thanks for the comment!💖

The really difficult decisions we have to make, are not choices between good and evil, but when we have to choose between two evils, and decide which is the lesser. I think that's what makes the Doctor so "human" and so relatable in this episode. For once, he's in a lose-lose situation (or thinks he is). And, ironically given his rant against humans, it takes Amy to see through the dilemma and reset his moral compass.

This episode is good and brings up some good issues, including the one where Amy makes a decision on the behalf of another person she loved by withholding information from them that would have allowed them to make a decision for themselves... a behaviour that may show itself again in the future. But the issue that annoyed me was one not addressed with any conclusion or even concern beyond how it acted as a clue to the nature of the skywhale: that the society on the ship was willing to punish children who get poor grades by trying to feed them to a creature. That society has a lot more to answer for than torturing a single innocent creature.

Ok, I’m going to watch out for Amy doing this now. Oh wow I didn’t notice that, why wasn’t that addressed?! I understand why that would irk you because now I feel the same way!

The mystery and, mainly, the resolution in this episode was pretty great. I remember loving it a lot when I first watched and I'm glad you're doing it as well! See? Doctor Who was still good after David Tennant, haha.
It's funny because, just like you, I thought there was no way they could live up to 10, but then you have episodes like this that are so beautifully done... David was a high bar and, even though Matt Smith is not my favorite, I definitely think he had an impossible task and still was able to pull it off.
Great reaction and I can't wait for more!

I really liked this episode too! Yeah, I’m definitely coming around to him😄
It must have been daunting for Matt Smith to take over after how amazing Tennant was but he’s doing pretty well! Thanks for watching💖

And don't forget, they had spent 200 years torturing the whale. Yet it still chose to protect them rather than leave them behind. No human would be so kind.

Until I was 6 or 7 I had an imaginary friend called Uncle Nobody.
I knew Uncle Nobody was a ghost and I think I knew he was my mother's brother. Only my mother didn't have a brother she was an only child. My dad had a 1 sister, Aunt Jane, but no brothers. Only Uncle Bob, my aunt's husband, was my only uncle.
I was 13 or 14, not too long before my grandmother passed I was in the kitchen and listening to my mom talking to her mom. Mom mentioned she always had a feeling like she was suppose to have had a brother.
My grandmother got a bit sad and she told a story I'm not sure she had thought about in 40 years.
Before Grandma was pregnant with mom, she was pregnant with a boy. But the baby never took a breath after he was born. He either died in the birthing process or right after he was born. Legally a baby is not considered a live birth if the baby never takes a breath. Still births do not get a name, they do not get a birth certificate.
My grandmother said they were expecting a baby but nobody came.
I had not thought of my imaginary friend in nearly 10 years (That is a long time when you are 13 or 14) but it was like something in my head just clicked, that's why he was Uncle Nobody!
Could he have been more than imaginary?

    • @ReactandRamble
      @ReactandRamble  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Wow, that’s eerie and so sad, but it’s sweet in a way as it’s almost like you were the only person to spend more time with him.
