WorkOut Plateaus and Motorcycling
NOTICE to my TH-cam followers - I'm going on a 3-week motorcycle vacation this weekend, hence will not be posting on TH-cam. As you know, you can peruse my Playlists to see some other videos. The "Wanna Workout Better" is a really helpful playlist.
If you're interested in my Harley-riding trip X-Continent, then you'll have to follow me on Instagram @calorieburningat72
I have a GoPro helmet chin-mounted camera where I can narrate, as well as a reverse view camera on the handlebar (which doesn't have a microphone, though you can hear the bike motor and you can see me as well). I'll travel across Canada (from Toronto) to Vancouver (avoiding the wildfires) and return via the northern States. Probably about 9,000 km or so. My brother is going with me, he has a Harley as well; and, we'll be visiting our brother who lives near Vancouver BC.
Now back to this video on working out at the gym. It will really help you if you think you have plateaued and feel really frustrated. Listen to appreciate WHY and HOW and WHAT you can do about it.
Check out my published book "Are You Fat-making or Calorie-burning?" ---- this is the KEY biochemical question. Why? Because your body is the one in charge of muscle gain/loss and fat gain/loss. You have to be able to nudge it one way or the other.

      I have read that but I don't subscribe to it. Saunas can dehydrate some people, and muscles have 75% water content. And even if it did, it is simply not enough when compared to the hypertrophic affect of lifting progressively heavier weights in the gym. If you think it is a substitute, I believe is not feasible.

    So question, does that mean the unfit person should not do long bouts of cardio to avoid losing muscle? does that change when you add weights to cardio (i would presume not but thought i'd ask)?

    • @areyoufat-makingorcalorie-8041
      @areyoufat-makingorcalorie-8041 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry about not responding earlier, just seeing this now. OK, the reality with cardio exercise is that you need oxygen to break down fat for energy. If there is insufficient oxygen, then the body has to get energy (oxygen) from somewhere. That's when it turns to stored carbs (glycogen) in muscle tissue to get that energy. Unfit people are just not oxidatively fit and so they can't use respiratory oxygen for very long. Additionally, an unfit body will cause increased cortisol stress hormones and they are fat-producing!! They should build up more muscle, which translates into more energy-producing mitochondria in their cells.. Also the myoglobin protein, which moves oxygen from your bloodstream into your muscle tissue, is increased through anaerobic weight-lifting exercise. LIft weights 80% of the time, and od cardio 20% of the time (do the cardio after weights so that you have more energy to lift heavier). HIIT works well to help stay aerobic on cardio machines. Hope this helps!! Bev.

    Great video. Also placing your hands closer to your waist increases the difficulty. Once you get stronger, you can lift your entire body off the ground which is known as the Planche pushup

      Yes, there are tons of different pushup variations. That one is quite advanced, not for the faint hearted 😂🤣

      I bet you drink a ton of water, not eat sufficient carbs, and do a lot of cardio exercise. If no exercise, then you probably don't eat enough calories daily.

    • @bevmerriman2305

      True skinny-fat people have low muscle mass and relatively high body fat leading to soft jiggly and/or saggy skin.

      Don't skip carbs....just ensure that you are eating the complex type. Lots of veggies, but not too much fruit (maybe 1-2 per day max).

      Thanks, happy you found that informative. Another weird exercise that people do is to pull the lat pulldown bar BEHIND their head. It is really hard on the shoulders, in fact is a form of shearing. Some people have incredible mobility in the shoulders, but the majority of people should never be undertaking that exercise. It can cause long term trauma to the shoulder joint.

      Anyone that wants to be fatter can just eat a lot of junk food, processed foods, fried foods, drink a bunch of liquor (especially if combined with carbonated soda of some sort)....and don't exercise much. That will alter your body fat percentage, gradually making it higher so that you are much less lean. Oh yeah, and don't eat a lot of protein.
