On inside brace you could have cut slit along side and spread to even up and rewelded for better match. Not much work. Slits here and there in aftermarket parts make a huge difference!

I used to see our older aircraft sheet metal guys using thin transparent plastic sheet to make templates for patch panels. It was nice because you could cut it with scissors and it would conform to the contours, but not stretch or tear. I imagine it would work great for transferring over badge mounting holes as well.

HI Thanks for the excellent video. Note that you need to remove the brown wire from pin #11 or #12 and tape it off when replacing the standard gauges with rally gauges.

I was surprised to see you actually use the whole panel. But I definitely see the logic, being it 'fixed' the big ding in the fender. No worries about the driver side, we all get a little bit sometimes. You'll git 'er done!. Throw it in with the old deck lid, lol!

When I was a teen I owned a 65 GTO, a 67,68 and 70 Firebird along with several Grand Prix. I would have loved to hand you do my bodywork. Your bodywork is exceptional.

funny I masked some spindles on knuckles I blasted in my cabinet with basic blue painters tape, blasted it and noticed afterwards that the tape was basically 100% intact. Surprisingly some materials just outright defy or at least resist blast damage. Never intentionally exposed plastic to blast media but I'll have to give this a shot.

Must be nice working on a later model GTO. 😁 I’ve had a terrible time finding certain replacement parts for my 64. Even the patch panel for that fender rust behind the wheel comes with a warning to only use it as a last resort. So I ended up fabricating my own reinforcements and patch panels - left and right.

Nice tip about using masking tape as a template. My GTO needs the same work. Thank you for sharing.

Another good video! I used a Dremel when patching my windshield frame. Works great on those tight places. Just don't buy cheap cutoff blades! Lol!

Looks good. next time you're at the big box store, check out the low adhesion Frog Tape. I use the yellow version. "I'll have some of the...some of the yeller." edit: Easier to pull off to minimize stretch.
