It's been a while since the rush to finish this car in time for the dragon meet ended, and I've mostly just been enjoying it and doing minor upgrades to it in my spare time, but now that my HF engine is back from the machine shop it's time to finish this car the way I intended to originally.

This is my friend's MX73 Cressida, which has been his daily driver since well before I met him around 8 years ago until we both got orders to Japan in 2017. It's been a great car for him, but has had a rough life and a few annoying issues, so we decided it was time to tear it apart and rebuild it from the ground up with a fresh coat of paint.
Swapping a CD009 transmission into my FD RX7

Unfortunately, my stock FD transmission blew up on me, but luckily I managed to score a sweet deal on a 370Z CD009 transmission and most of a swap kit. It's completely overkill for the current amount of torque I'm making, but these transmissions are good for close to 1000HP, so now I'm good to push as much power in this car as I really want without worrying about too much.

Here's a car that has been sitting on my property for well over a year now, changed hands a couple of times in that time, and finally found it's way into my garage for a full restoration. As much as this project was a mistake for me to take on, I am very happy with how it's turned out, and am looking forward to seeing what it's owner does with it next.

Here's one of the more interesting side projects going on around here. A local guy brought this red '94 FD to me with a blown motor hoping I could get it running right again. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to happen without a rebuild, but luckily it's not my first rodeo.

This car sat for over 10 years! I know the engine works because I got it to run for a minute or 2 on a carburetor from another car and a bucket of fuel, but can I get it to run with it's original carburetor using fuel from it's fuel tank, and actually move on it's own power? We will see...

Where did you find the new engine? Is it crate engine? Any universal kit for honda civic 1991?
I bought a used one, tore it down, got the block and head machined, and rebuilt it.
Looks amazing very inspiring. How did you get the quarter panel to fit perfect and where did you make your cuts?
I cut at the mid point of the C pillar, B pillar, and rocker panel. The rest of the panel has to be drilled out by the spot welds. Getting it to fit perfect just takes lots of time, patience, and effort.
Definitely would love to watch more parts of this car, absolutely can’t wait to own one and engine swap it
I own a 91 sedan and will attempt to get the ac working again so this video is extremely helpful. Where did you buy the "hardline" hoses by the way?
I was lucky enough to find them at a junk yard. Sometimes people sell them in car groups though.

You mean the trans adapter kit? It was made by a guy on the forums with the username "Careless". I'm not sure exactly how to purchase one or if they are even still available. I got mine used as part of a whole transmission swap kit.

I don't think I can post web addresses in comments, but they're pretty easy to find on Rockauto. Just look under Heating and Air Conditioning for the year/make/model of your car. I'm pretty sure all of them are for R134a seeing as R12 is phased out, but if you want to be sure just click on the info button and find one that says specifically that it's made for R134a.

45mins to 1hr is fine.. got to do a decay test to see that it stays at negative where you left it after turning off the vaccum.. make sure your gauges have new hoses or good seals..it can give you a false leak when after all it was your hoses of the gauges and not your car
Any videos of how you Manuel swapped to work with the h6?
No, I did that years before I made a YT channel. It was fairly plug and play though. Just ground out one of the pins on the ECU and get all the manual swap parts from a similar model outback/legacy. Everything bolts right up.

Most likely bad schredver valves and dirty evap coil blocking the surface from releasing vapor causing high pressure busting out thru the valves

The CRX looks really good and seems to drive nicely. Those fuel numbers are needed with fuel prices the way they are here in 24. I would take an HF any day over one of these turbo/CVT, current Civics, or Accords. Hell, you have an essentially a brand new, sportier, more sound built car, that will last compared to these overpriced, and less reliable newer Honda models. I know the machine shop took a while to get the engine back but they look like they did a great job. Man, you did a great job with this car. These CRXs still look sweet in 2024 and just have character to them. Unlike the current Hondas that all look the same, lack power and reliability, and have questionable components. I am not crapping on Honda because I have driven nothing but this brand for 30 years but facts are we are not seeing the best from this car manufacturer in 2024.

Hell yeah man I’m in VA also and a EF enthusiast myself 🤘🏻 i have 2 Ef Hatches. A 91 STD model that’s B20v swapped (turbo coming soon) and a 89 Si that’s B20 swapped. Once the 91 is finished I want it to be a fun track car 🤷🏼♂️

Did you reuse the stock head bolts?
Yes. They are not torque to yield and I wasn't able to find a company that made them for the earlier model VG block. 96+ are different thread.

Thanks! The steering wheel is a Nardi Gara, and the hub is an NRG knockoff I got off eBay.
