  • Removing the subframe spacers from my 2002 Subaru Outback L.L. Bean edition in order to lower the car without ruining the roll center.
    Part 2 of the CRX painting video delayed due to my old cell phone breaking, but coming soon.

    Thanks for the video! this is of great help since I was actually thinking on using subframe spacers on my impreza (quite the opposite haha ) and didn't quite know how to go about it, but this gave me a nice picture of what to expect

    it’s best to not use an impact on the subframe bolts to break them free because it could break off the captive nuts inside the body

      Hey, thanks for the tip. I only used the impact to spin the bolts out and tighten them back in most of the way though. I broke torque on all of them with a breaker bar off camera.

      @@Norman_X_Seven I’ve only ever seen them break off on rusty northern cars but when I did it on my car I was so worried about it happening

      @@Norman_X_Seven it’s awesome you made a video on this cause I’ve personally never seen another video about this

    Can you make a video on what you did with the manual swap and how you did it?

      Unfortunately, that was one of very few things I didn't do myself. My mom was using it while I was living abroad and it broke down on her so I paid a friend to do the swap and all I did was finish some wiring on it. But from what I was told it was very straight forward.

    I have this on my TODO list, do you have a final breakdown on the parts list? I read somewhere else about swapping the steering column from a Legacy, but that sounds excessive - the U-joint itself was enough I take it?

    • @Norman_X_Seven
      @Norman_X_Seven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. No, the steering U joint alone was not enough. trust me, I tried. You will need;
      1. Legacy front LCA bushings
      2. Legacy front subframe bolts or spacers for your existing bolts
      3. legacy rear subframe bolts and spacers
      4. Legacy rear subframe braces if you don't want to use the Outback spacers upside down like I did
      5. Legacy steering column and U joint.

    I’m not understand why do you did all these frame job having coilovers.. god man

    • @Norman_X_Seven
      @Norman_X_Seven  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, sorry for the late response. I explained the reason in detail around the 30:04 mark, but basically, removing them fixes the car's roll center. You can absolutely just put coilovers on it and call it a day, but the car will not handle as well as it should.
