Mazatrol Tips and Tricks
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 ส.ค. 2019
This channel will focus primarily on how to setup and program Mazatrol CNC lathes. I'm using a Mazak T--3 control, but the information presented here is applicable to the T-1 and T-2 controls as well as the newer controls. My machine does not have as many features as the newest Smooth-X control, but the basic programming techniques of programming Mazatrol has remained essentially unchanged throughout the years.
Grooving a bobbin
Grooving a bobbin. This video shows how to perform deep grooving moving from the right side of the groove to left side on a Mazak CNC lathe. This video works on all controllers but is especially needed on the T-2 and T-3 controllers as the grooving options are limited.

Can you start a program at any operation with our rerunning the whole program?
@@NeilB-m7h Yes. You push the restart button and enter the process you wish to run and the machine will start a mid program and continue to end. Have to use caution as you can restart even if you have not run a roughing process. Same caution as a Fanuc.

Hi sir
hi Phil i was doing a simple SQUARE 3.5x3.5 with 5/16" ROUNDS i used XC mode and ANGLES how would you have programmed this? i went from one corner but i had to repeat TWO extra lines IN ORDER TO achieve the FOUR rounds or it would've not given me the fourth round . and the reason i did this for obvious endmill mark corners are always better to lead in and lead out.
is any where same type available for milling also??
Thanks 🙏

I have a z offset question . I went to shorten the length of a part . I touch off the face and was going to teach the z. I want to make the part .020 smaller which i thought should have been a negative number . I was told it was a positive number. I am trying to figure out how . since the face of the past is usually zero and anything going back toward the jaws is a that is usually negative number. thank you sorry if i am confusing you what i am trying to ask.
do you have any videos on parameters? i got a sub spindle that's not homing any more can you help? thanks
Hi, have you any experience with tracing/ picking up existing threads for reworking? I've been led to believe that it is possible on the T series controllers??? I know it's possible on later controller, would be super handy if it can be done on T series

Does the barrier only work for the tailstock or does work for the chuck as well?

Hi Phil. Just reviewing some of your early vids and looking specifically for the T2 parameter that controls the tool X-retract clearance for bar out roughing. I need more clearance between passes to allow the chips to fall out rather than wad up around the tool tip. I thought it was U6 but it didn't work. Thanks!
@@peoplepower1272 U6 is the correct parameter. What value did you enter?
@@mazatroltipsandtricks6816 I changed U6 from 800 to 1000 then re-booted. The retract didn't seem to change. Maybe I should try a bigger number? I'd like to have more like .500 clearance
@@peoplepower1272 for .500" clearance, you need to enter 10000 in U6. Also this parameter change is effective immediately. No need to reboot the machine. 10000 = 1.0000" on diameter or .500" clearance per side.
Thanks Dankeschön

hey phil i am triyng to do a 55 degree groove instead of 45 default is this something i'd have to change in parameters cause the "ANG" taper option does nt seem to work the groove is 8mm wide on the bottom of it minor diameter 38mm 16mm wide on top with the OD being 50mm and i am choosing option #4; width as .315 i have tried 33 degrees 146 degrees none of it matters it keeps drawing a square box

Hi Phil, im using mazatrol t-plus with rigid tapping enabled on the milling spindle. It is working great, however it reverses the tap back out very fast. So far no problems but is there any way to slow it down no the reverse? I had a quick look through parameters but cant see one for it.
How do use the facing function to do an internal taper? Thank you so much for the mazatrol content. I have learned valuable information.
You're probably going to find that your boring bar is not rigid enough to do internal facing. It can work if you limit your depth of cut to 0.030" max depth of cut, but it is usually better to turn towards the chuck with a boring bar. I've used a facing cycle on internal tools when turning a flat bottomed hole.
@@86joeblowit’s true. You can’t take much of a facing depth cut, but it did the job. I finished the actual internal angle by the common boring method of “toward the chuck”. Mix and match. I hate having chips buried inside the blind hole, which is why I faced the majority. If I had inserted drills, I would have gone that route to open it up.
should make a video of setting up the lathe from start to finish loading the tools, setting them with the toolsetter, entering tool data, setting the z offset, and adjusting the offsets to get a good part.
@@aarontabor2915 thanks for the suggestion. That will be a long video though
@@mazatroltipsandtricks6816 Depends on how many tools you load.
