Mazak Lathe BAR OUT OD Profiling VBMT. In this video I am machining using a tool with an edge angle less than 90 degrees and using the highlighted BAR OUT function.
there is no way to turn left-right & right-left on mazatrol control? it would be better for an insert, and slightly faster, not a lot, but still faster.
Great video. I wrote the same example with the same tool in a mazatrol smooth g. The start radius for the first taper doesn't show up and its a sharp point after machining. I have to write a linear before the taper to break that edge. In your example did it actually break that edge with a .03R?
Quick question, you mentioned the positive and negative values for calculating the end point on the taper, but I'm not yet understanding which to use when. Which direction is a positive and which is a negative? Sorry if this is a long answer. Maybe you have something in another video that will make me understand better. Update, I think I see now. Is an angle basically to the right of a 90° vertical line negative and to the left positive?
Phil could you do a demo on how to change an insert during a roughing etc? If an insert fails during a long heavy cycle it's a pain to go back and re-run the tool from the top and just cut air until it gets back. I know there is a better way but have never learned the proper way to do it without the risk of crashing. I am just playing it safe at the moment but would like to learn better. Are you versed in this proceedure?
Could you explain how to interrupt a process, such as a od turning operation, to check the dimension before a finish tool is called? I'm not clear on how to restart after a feed hold is called.
Push feed hold after tool clears the part, press one of the manual buttons to get the machine in manual mode, measure the part, then press Auto button and then press cycle start. Machine will pick back up where it left off. Do not press the reset button or the machine will start over from beginning of the program.

Yes, it worked on my machine. I forgot the newer controls are slightly different. You did the correct method by adding a line.

Negative taper is when the tool will cut deeper into the part and positive taper is when the tool is pulling out of the part.

You don't have to put the line in the bottom of the groove. Just the 2 angles will do the same.
