  • Mazatrol Programming Lathe ID Threading Mazak. In this video I am programming an ID thread. If you have a T-1, T-2, or T-3 control, be sure to watch out for the ID minimum issue on the first line of the program. If you leave the ID minimum at X0, the machine will crash when ID threading. Please watch the entire video to understand the issue and how it can crash the machine.

You are correct about x offset I have noticed this on many machines even if the offset is correct we still have to go .010 or more for go gauge to go inside.

Thank you very much Phil, your content is so helpful. Something I would like to ask you . I'm using center action bar puller. For some reason it takes long time because when the puller is engaged it stays for some while, then it pulls and stays again. It's pretty much looking on some delay which probably is designated in parameters.Don't you know how to reduce the time of delay?
Something else I would like to ask you about. When I do threading very often the machine gives me alarm that acceleration of the speed is to high even when the cutting speed is low some around 50 fpm. Which parameter is responsible for this?
    Thank you very much again.
    Igor.

What controller do you have? I only have parameter information regarding the T-2 and T-3 controls. I will have to look for the timer parameter regarding the delay time of the chuck.
For the threading parameter, U35 controls the acceleration distance. It is set to a low value from the factory and that causes problems with threading speed. The range of the parameter is 0-255, but I have mine set to 100 and it works fine.

Hey Phil. Thanks so much for your helpful videos! Trying to cut 7/8-9 internal threads on 304 SS.
Can't get the spindle to reverse. Programming M4 code after M8 but the spindle still turns normally. Any ideas? Thanks!

Having to add a few thousands in the wear offset when threading is not just a Mazak thing. Every machine I have ever run I have had to do that. Usually .01-.015

Have an ID thread ? I’m using partial profile inserts. The tool I’m using doesn’t have a shim to change the angle, 1, 2 98 99 etc. the job I’m doing will require me to use a 99 shim but tool doesn’t have a shim. So would it be ok to just run without the proper angled shim? Not sure what will happen, probably poor insert wear?

    • @mazatroltipsandtricks6816
      @mazatroltipsandtricks6816  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

It will not cut a proper thread profile if you are not using the correct shim. The heel of the insert will likely rub the thread and tear the material.

Hi Phil I worked mostly on G code programming but my employer got an integrx. I have a question for you.
I saw some old programs on that machine and saw + sign on left side of screen under unit number.
What does + sign means in this case ??
    Just wondering.
    Thanks

@@loukola5353 TPC is Tool Parameter Control. It is a feature first introduced on the T32 series controls. It allows you to change the machine parameters for an individual process or unit without changing the global parameters. TPC also allows you to change the approach and retract tool vectors for an individual process or unit. Very helpful in certain situations when doing something oddball.
