    I think its important to recognize that we cant organize until we declutter. Once we declutter and get stuff out of our house then we can organize in the way that works for us. It absolutely does work if you get rid of stuff first. So if the 5 minute method for decluttering us what works for you, then thats so awesome! Once you're done decluttering then maybe you will find her different organization styles are actually very helpful to you. They have worked so great for me and my family. Best of luck to you in your decluttering and organizing journey! :)

    Welcome to the Club! It's fantastic over here. In April 2022, I weighed 405 lbs. (am 5'1") and today I weigh 140 lbs. My diabetes is in remission, all my obesity-related illnesses are GONE, and I can walk 4+ miles for my am walk after being in bed the last 10 years before starting GLP-1s. I consider these an injection of Motivation and Healing. I took Fen-Phen in 1997, had a gastric bypass in 2001, and FINALLY, something is actually going to save my life. I started with Trulicity for a year and now on Mounjaro since Sept. 2023. Super-fat since I was a kid, these meds are a miracle for me. I will actually get to stay alive to see my grandkids grow up! I'm 63, but feel 23. Better than I ever did at 23 years old! Good luck, Holly, and most of all, have FUN with your new life!

      Thank you so much for the encouragement and sharing your story. I've been all sizes so I was getting really mad at myself that I couldn't/ didn't maintain healthier weight. But after a year of getting nowhere and hearing about the successes (done responsibly) I had to give it try. My energy hasn't skyrocketed or anything but I do feel better overall and it feels like I'm at least improving everyday.

      That is completely valid. A lot of what I've heard is if you make zero changes, coming off essentially sets you up to go back to where you were. But those who get movement and protein in do better. There are also people who microdose for several reasons, though not typically for keeping weight off.

    Having items organized together in the same space really does help to stop buying items you already have. Now that i have gotten through my products. I keep backstock of one extra of each item. One toothpaste, one dish soap, one hairspray etc. Then once I pull the backstocked item out I add that same item to my shopping list. Very rarely do I buy a 2 pack, but even if it's a good deal, I will not get more than 2. Doing this project really helps you to realize how quickly you go through these products. Therefore, you can now plan to not have so much stock that you get stuck with items for years. When you get sucked into buying something new, make sure to only purchase one or even a sample size to try. If you're not happy with a current skin or hair product, try some other sample sizes. Before jumping into purchasing another item you'll not be happy about. Besides seeing that you have X amount at home already will keep you out of Sephora, Bath and Body works, or Ulta. B)

    • @ManageableLiving
      @ManageableLiving 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed! And I sort of had *some* stuff together. Or I'd start rooting around and make a mess. Or put stuff away poorly. Or hide stuff in a closet it doesn't belong when company comes... Sigh. I'm getting better I swear!

    I think now that I have a home for most things its so much easier to stick to using things up & not overbuying. When crap is scattered all over it doesn't work & you spend more money. I do like a small stockpile of items I use a lot could be a covid thing or just a comfort level thing with me nothing worse then running out of something you love or need lol Good to see you again hope you are well.

    I love the color of that shirt on you! From the first video I watched, I knew there was some underlying Spectrum association. I am the mother of an adult with Aspergers. He also has a hard time dealing with items. He doesn't have an emotional attachment to stuff at all, but he has a very hard time letting go due to the what if I need it mentality. He also is very low income due to being disabled(FDHD) so we run into, the not being able to replace (affordability) aspect. He doesn't see piles. He doesn't feel the need to purge. When he was young, he enjoyed taking things apart to find out how they worked. Yet, he never wanted to throw even broken items away. Now that he doesn't live at home, I wonder how bad his apartment has gotten. I was only ever invited in the day we moved stuff into it. Keep pushing yourself. I know that your life will get so much easier. You don't need to live amongst items that you are not using. You' can create a cat room, with toys and towers, a place to play. Then the other room could be an office/craft room that you attempt to keep cat free so they don't get into your yarn and such. Use the closets for actual storage, but that's all you should need. The rest of your items are for life now, not life later or never.

    I am the same with my decluttering, I do it when I can and take it slow and every time I clear even just a drawer I feel a sense of relief. I try to only buy organizers if I feel they will actually help me be organized and not just so I can display everything in a clear container because I saw it on TikTok or TH-cam.

    • @ManageableLiving
      @ManageableLiving 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I personally don't love clear acrylic containers. The only exception is I bought two that were affordable at Dollar General to add division to my freezer and contain beef in one and chicken in the other. I might get a third for all my frozen fruit partials.

    I'm in a pretty comfortable space with decluttering. It's taken years. Layers upon layers. I am onto finer organizing as the mood strikes. I've also been "decluttering" my UFOs by completing them. My daughter is 34. I'd saved dresses from babyhood through about second grade. I FINALLY made the Sunbonnet Sue quilt this year. There are more items I'm considering letting go. I bought a ukulele seven years ago and have only used it 4 or 5 times. I like the idea but don't choose to practice. Now it's out of the case and ready to play. If I don't do so soon, it's gone. Well, I wrote a novel here 😊 Thanks for the video, good perspective.

    I wake up early just because I hate rushing in the morning. I like to drink at least 3 cups of coffee (usually in bed) readíng or watching the news and then slowly do some stretching and walking or jogging and showering , tis takes 1,5- 2hours, therefore, I HAVE to wakeup early :-D (Can you see that I dont have kids) if i I would just wake up and start the work day, I would just feel crappy. But I would not wake up at 5 just because some "producticity people" tell me so.Thats ridicolous. I know people who start getting productiv at 14 00 and they keep on going until night.

    I always try to pack as light as possible since I am a pain patient. My sister is the opposite and always looks like burried under all her bags. But we really dont need much (and if i stay somewhere longer, I can alsways wash, either per hand or at the laundrymat). I used to either forget stuff (like, reeeeally important things like meds so I had to go to the doctor at the destination) if i did not start packing, like, a week early until I made a list which I use every single time. Since its always the same list, I have it down to a "t" now.And now, I can comfortably pack without fear of forgetting things.

    You know, youtube somehow did not sho me this video when it came out (although i hit the bell button). I just saw it on your playlist. But if it helps one person its well worth it i think. I think its great, because many people are not seen as a drinker or like to be seen as one - bc they are "funktioning". I dont drink (I never liked the feeling, even as a teen (its legal in my country)) but all the kind of reasons you mentioned are what I say to myself when buying sweets - and eating them. I KNOW its not the same I dont want to minimize alcohol addiction. It does not have the same impact on my life or others. But this reasoning " I deserve it" instead of " I "need "it to deal with my life", thats basically the same i think. And you have a way of putting these things together in a short video in an amazing way.

Not entirely surprised. *Technically* I should have marked it 18+ only but I have heard so many stories of people who QUIT drinking before 18 or 21 because they just started so young. I'm struggling with food mainly because if I do the tiniest bit of exercise then I'm unreasonably ravenous for the next few days. I am switching doctors on the advice that my labs were missing a lot (no A1C was run, a while run of other tests) and even my thyroid number crept up higher than it should be - but no change was made to my meds. It's going to be a long two weeks anticipating my new appt.

      @@ManageableLiving Im pressing thumbs for your appointment. The "hiding videos" is pretty redicolous , i think. And sad.! Also, if you think about it - in my country you can basically drink most alcoholic beverages age 16 legally - but i dont think that drunk driving and alcoholism are more pronounced here than in the us where its forbidden under 21.(that does not mean that teens should drink imho. But they would find ways - as seen in the us). As i said, i dont drink - mainly because i dont like mood alteration or "loosing control". But Hiding information doesnt make anything better at all.

      @@KarMa-ws3ll thank you! I actually did a whole thing in college about countries that make substances so normalized that it's really not a big deal and nobody cares like here. Granted the pandemic REALLY exacerbated drinking here and now it feels like the norm to drink daily.

    I think you should pack a few small snacks in case needed on flights or in your room & yes you can buy some at the airport if needed lol I have back & shoulder pain so don't think I could use a back pack I would think its easier for you too roll the carry on suitcase which seems like it has more room? But I might be wrong lol Going on a haunted tour sounds so fun since we are getting into Halloween spirits let us know how everything goes for you hope you have fun.

      Great! I know my opinion is against the grain, but... most people don't have unlimited disposable income. And I actually achieved minimally once and didn't know what to do with myself, like was I supposed to just sit and stare at blank walls? It's a great lifestyle for some but I'm perfectly happy being manageable.

    YES Holly,❤️ I 100 percent agree with you that it's okay to hold onto smaller sized clothing! After several years, I'm finally able to go "shopping" for "new" clothing that I'd stored away. Many times I was tempted to just get rid of it all, but now I'm glad I hung onto my "fantasy self" clothes!

    Hubby & I are collectors some items we are selling on Facebook Marketplace. When we have narrowed down the collections & have time would be to find the perfect cabinets or shelves to display what we really love to keep. We have things but some items need to grouped together better & displayed. We also like to travel so the money we make reselling will go for more trips so its a good motivation to sell more.

      Oooh that's nice motivation. And yes, I love looking at thoughtful collections of others. I think it's totally fine to have a bit of a curated collection or rotate through items. And a collection doesn't have to be permanent if you decide you prefer new-to-you over some things you are ready to let others enjoy.

    I agree with you. You should keep the fantasy clothes. However, I believe you should be wearing them. Who cares if it’s to fancy as long as it makes you happy? I believe that just because you are a mother doesn’t mean that you have to wear leggings every day wear a pretty dress and feel your best self.❤

      Agreed! If there's any deterrent on my end is whether it's physically comfortable. If I'm pulling or tugging at it, gone.
