เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 ธ.ค. 2020
This channel is about finding adventures large and small. Based around the Dual Sport/ADV Bikes, we will be exploring multiple excursions short and long. We will work on bikes and gear and then go test how they work out. There will also be items out of the ordinary to change up the norm. My sincere hope is that you are entertained and inspired like so many other channels here on TH-cam! Thanks so much to OBI- WAN (Dane) for so much inspiration! Enjoy and thanks for spending your valuable time watching me carrying aimlessly on.

Got my bike 3 weeks ago. Nice seeing videos with the same bike. The only negative thing for me about watching this video is that it's winter here and I want your weather.
@@garyhulme3673 Hey Gary! Thanks for watching and it’s winter here also 😂 The 1050 is a great bike so congratulations to you on your choice! Hope it warms up soon so you can put some more miles on it. Cheers!
Good idea .Thanks!

Samaritans purse is one of the best charities to support. They will be helping until everyone is back to normal. Baptist men is also one of the groups that stay active until the end. It’s best to contact the group you want to help and ask them what they need before sending any thing. Thank you for using your channel to support the efforts to rebuild the area Doc. We got hit pretty hard in my area, but not as bad as the higher areas did. My town and most people are back to mostly normal. Restored power and roads cleared and at least temporarily patched. Probably be at least a year before being repaired completely. One of the hardest hit area is Green River Cove. Destroyed the road and around 25 houses. I don’t know if the total number of people lost in the storm will ever be known but I am sure it will be higher than reported. The town of Chimney Rock was completely destroyed and the river bed is 3-4 times wider than before. It is hard to imagine the amount of damage that was caused by the hurricane. If you are a praying person that is the best thing to do in my opinion. GOD is the best thing to lean on. I’m amazed at the way the country has come together to support the area and help. USA is the best country on earth!!!
Hey Calvin! I am glad to help in any way possible. I totally agree that this situation is best addressed through actions we can take (especially prayer). I am so glad you were not as impacted by the storm as some of the others. There is a lot of nefarious stuff going on up there with regards to the Federal Government and the assets they could be bringing to greatly assist our fellow citizens. I will continue to pray and do what I can to help just as you are doing. So glad you are OK and it's great to see you reply. Cheers! DOC

Great to see you DOC, important message for sure, thank you for getting the word out for those in need. I saw hundreds of big trees along interstate 95/20 that were uprooted by Helene, never experienced that before. Your garage looks thinner 🤣
Hey Dave! I felt I had to put this video out. Hope it helps in some way. I was wondering what you might have seen on your trip home. Yes the garage has lost about 500 lbs. recently, but it looked better before 🤣

Whole lot worse than the one's that tell us the goings on in the world want to tell. Thanks for sharing this and good to see ya up and at em buddy!! Beta is what I need for that Idaho single!!! Cheers man!
Hey Brother! I believe you live in an area that was affected by the storm and you know better than most how things are. I was hoping to help out in some way by raising exposure that there is still a lot to do to help those in need. As far as the Beta 300RR, I am betting it would love the Utah single track but even so, you seem to do quite nicely with the machines you currently have!! Cheers!
@doc650adventures we got pretty lucky. A metric ton of downed trees and power lines. All our trees luckily only took down power poles and lines and didn't hit anything super important. Power was out here around 8 days. Rode up to my buddy's place right across the sc/NC line and it looked apocalyptic with downed trees and flooding. Yep, if the Beta wasn't so tall, I'd really like to have the two stroke. I may still get one and lower it! My buddy has the 500rr and it's a beast!

During break in .if the torque wrench clicks right away with very little pressure that u are not over tight?
Hello Craig! You can set the torque limits on the wrench to what you need. I went with the recommendation from WARP9 and it was 44-inch pounds. That is the factory setting so it is a matter of ensuring the spokes stay at the factory torque as they will loosen a bit when you first use the wheels. Great comment by the way!
Dang!, my pegs on my DR are half the size of your stock pegs!, couldn't even imagine the change those pivot pegs would make for me. Definitely a worthy upgrade!
They are a great upgrade for sure. Keep in mind that the pivot part of the pegs takes a little getting used to but I love em. I put some on my V-Strom 1050XT ADV also. The wider platform makes a huge difference. Cheers!
Awesome! Hope you are doing well! an Italian dirt bike...wow!!
Hey Jody! Yeah, it's fun and scary at the same time! I was looking at a KTM 300 but went with the Beta due to the type of riding I am looking at doing. I also like pasta so it was even easier to choose the Italian Bike! Cheers!
@doc650adventures well now... That is the very first time I've ever heard someone mention pasta as a reason to pick a particular bike! 😂🍝🍝🍝😁👌 glad you're having fun!
@ Bonjourno Jody! Actually the Betas and Asher is are awesome bikes and use carburetors versus EFI. Much more reliable. The only issue is if you are riding at high altitude and you have to adjust the jetting 😁
You know the seiko kinetic amplified your tires opinion on my side ?
Sounds cool for the first 50 ks after that it's deafening and not what I want for a long travel motorcycle. Trying to fix the deafening roar at highway speed.
@@ksut5917 It can be loud for sure. I normally wear earplugs when riding so it’s not an issue. Yoshimura makes a quiet insert which will supposedly reduce the volume. I haven’t used it yet.
@@doc650adventures I have the spark arrestor insert its solid pipe for 3.5 inches then switches to screen mesh for about 2.5 inches..... its pretty darn loud even with ear plugs. Looking at a LeoVince option.

it's been about a year since this post ... just wondering about your current assessment of the shinkos ... tread life etc. thanks in advance.
@@pnfctg12 Hey there! I really like the Shinko 705s a lot. I have over 3,000 miles on the set and I have mostly ridden on road but I have used them off road also. Other than mud, they perform really well. The front tire wear is excellent and the rear is at about 50%. In will be replacing the rear tire due to an extended long mileage trip I have coming up. You should be able to get about 5,000-6,000 miles out of a set with ease. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@doc650adventuresThanks a ton ! Much appreciated.
Thanks for putting up the video. I've got a DR and took it out on a 4-5 hour trip in roughly 30 Degree Celsius recently with a bunch of guys on BMW sport touring bikes and cruisers. Most of the trip was easy going back road but we did a solid hour of 130km/hr and I gotta tell you that was about the noisiest windy ride I've been on. Physically it was a little tiring but the noise at that speed was insane, ear plugs included. (I didn't overheat though :) ) My concern with a short screen like that, and I could hear it in the video, is the buffeting at speed. I feel the width would allow enough air to keep cool. For some background, I currently also ride an ST1100 and spent some time and money on getting a shield that lets very little air through. I can see just over it and it is extra wide too. Great for cold weather (Canadian here), real stinker in heat described above but that's what the DR is for I guess right? After all that: Any experience at say sustained 80MPH+ freeway speeds with that shield? Noisy?
Great comment Man! Congratulations on owning one of the best motorcycles ever made! The windscreen does not fully eliminate the buffeting at higher speeds but does mitigate it some. It greatly helps in colder weather by reducing the wind hitting your chest and rising up towards your helmet. It is definitely a good addition for the DR. There are some other good windscreens which provide more wind deflection out there. I guess the Parabelum screen is a compromise between size and capability . Great to hear from a neighbor up in Canada! Hope this video was of some help and ride safe Mate!
Mate great work great video I would be a little more careful though so I don’t mark things. Fussy.
Just get a set of JIS screwdrivers.
They are a great thing to have for working on the DR650.
Suck review. Was there buffeting around your head. Did you test it above 40 MPH? Does it cause any front end wobble at 65 or 70? This was a waste of time. Do better if you want to build your channel.
Hey doc just got mine in blue silver gray 2022 brand new. Chose it over the 2024 de. Much more comfortable and stable munching 170kmh highway speeds! Thanks a lot!
@@josephcaniones4629 My pleasure Joseph! Congratulations! It’s a great bike that’s very versatile. I have taken it off road at times and it did well also. For mild trails and long portions of pavement, it’s hard to beat.
@@doc650adventures 100% agreed doc. Many thanks to you!
Good video, thanks for doing it. I ordered the parts you used. Looking forward to getting them installed!
@@teslageek9257 Thank you! Glad it was of some use! I sold the white DR to my neighbor and the parts are still working well. They make a Huge difference over the stock setup. Cheers!!
My DR650 came from the PO with the Yoshimura exhaust. Does yours have have the RS-2 DB killer?
Interesting. No, I do not have that installed. I did not know it existed. My DB killer is wearing earplugs 😂😂 Thanks for the info!
My wife has the Spyder F3 withe the Rotax1330. It will scoot! Maybe she will let me do a video on it someday.
Hi there! The Spyders do move out quite well! The interesting thing is how responsive the steering is. Hope to see a video from you soon! Cheers
After two pinch flats in two months, I am looking to try this heavy sidewall tire on my DR650. Did you go with the 120mm or the 130mm width? I am running a Shinko 244 in the 5.10 width currently.
Hello! I went with the 130 in the rear. It does well on and off road. The side walls are tough and a pinch flat should not be an issue. An example of this is K had them sitting around for awhile (mounted) and put them back on my DR and they looked fine. In always check tire pressures before a ride and they were at really low pressure even though they supported the weight of the bike fine. Also, a friend has them on his Tenere and he rode across the US twice and still had plenty of tread left. They can get sketchy in wet situations though due to the tire compound. Hope this helps! Ride On and Cheers!!
Thank you very much. I will get one today or order one. Arkansas is putting down some jagged gravel down on my roads between here and work. My revered (cheap) Shinko 244 is not holding up well.
@@robbieandbeckieMy pleasure! Glad to help! They will do great in gravel also!

I bought a Seat Concepts for my DR650 and was unhappy. I found a used Corbin for $50 and I like it much more. Just finished a 1400 mile 7 day trip and I still had to stand up once in awhile but could generally do 50 to 60 miles before my butt was screamin.
Excellent! Glad to hear that you have a great solution to the seat issue! The SC seat is OK but it does take awhile to break in. Thanks for the info! Appreciate it!
What should I go with then I was about to order it for my 2024 400s
Should I order it for a pre 19 model
@@Oatmeal_TVx If you’re talking about the DR 650, Yoshimura RS2 exhaust should work on a 2024. I would check their website to ensure it does work. All DR650s are the same from 1996 on (other than emissions stuff after 2022) that doesn’t affect the exhaust system
