Ahhh ... Coffee time with DOC1050, I love that license plate. Beautiful bike, I enjoyed the walk around, very hi-tec dash but user friendly. It must be a Cadillac on the road with the miles clicking by. I understand how trail worthy the Vstroms are having my DL650 on some forest roads last week. Your Vstrom opens new doors and adventures for sure. Take care DOC.
Hey there VW! Just so you know, that license plate is you and the Pack's fault! It seemed to fit the right theme. I knew you would catch it! The V really is a pleasure to click off the miles. It is surprising how great they feel on trails. Once I wear down the stocker tires, I am going to put something on that does better off road. Hope your coffee was a pleasure and talk to you soon my Friend! Cheers!
DOC 1050 "LOL" - Love it - You hit on so many key points. That is a great looking bike. Great review of the features. That thing sounds smooth and obviously hauls ass. Wonderful review. Cheers Mate !!!
DUDE !!! - That was a very good walk around and review. Having the lineage of "THE DR BIG" makes it quite clear as to how the front end is designed & looks. I love it. That is a freakin Great looking bike. I like the spoked wheels better for off road use. When you rolled on the throttle (without downshifting) you were flying within seconds !!! - That bike is BAD ASS - and has a shit-ton of power & torque.... I like it :-) Cheers !
Dude!! I appreciate the kind words! There is a lot to like about the bike and as you stated, the DR Big lineage is really cool also. It is a great looking bike and an absolute pleasure to ride. As you mentioned, the power is amazing and the motor is torquey like the Mighty DR650. Just a bit smoother though LOL! If you end up this way someday, you should take it for a ride and experience the V! Cheers Brother!
Very straight to the point review. I like the fact that you showed and answered also a lot of questions about the panniers. Overall this is a do it all bike. Very well made I believe. In Slovenia you cannot get one for a test ride, otherwise I would already go for it. p.s. Great to comment also the chain tension problem.
Thank you Gregor! So far I am very happy with the 1050. No test rides here either. The heated grips come in handy for colder weather which we are experiencing now. Hopefully, you are able to get out and ride there in Slovenia. All the best my friend! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@doc650adventures I am 90% sure that my next bike will have them. You are right. I heard a lot of positives about the Vstroms. Both 650 and 1000 and also 1050. I filmed my last ride for this year some days ago. You will see it soon bro. :)
Beautiful bike! Just checked out the new DE at a bike show, I like the way it sits a little higher at the front but for me a slightly used XT is way better value. Great review, also I believe you can just tap the start button and it will crank till it starts, that is the suzuki start feature. Got to go check your you other vids now, subbed!
Thank you Jason! The DE is a sweet bike for sure. It is a tall bike also which might not be for everyone. The XT is a really great bike. Back in OCT of 2022 I did a 1500 mile trip on it and it performed perfectly. You are correct, if the bike is in neutral, one push of the quick start button and she fires right up! Thanks for the sub and I truly hope you enjoy the other videos. Thank You! Cheers!
Thanks Ulli! I really like the bike a bunch. It has just the right number of features to meet the requirements but not too many to make it overly complicated. I am curious about your V-Twin you mentioned in your last video. A video maybe? 😁😁
I hope the new never wears off! And it is better looking in person. I think you have missed the peak leaf season this year. Probably still fairly nice down your way though. Always good to see a new video from you my friend. Stay safe.
Hey Calvin! I hope it never wears off either. I had planned on heading your way earlier, but life things got in the way. Hope your mods to the Mighty DR650 are progressing along nicely! Talk to you soon Brother!
Great review loving my 1050xt just hit 100 000 kms on my one still looks great love the yellow my one is red and white great bike was going to upgrade to new 1050 but think i will keep my one maybe look at the 800 when it gets he also got a klr650 2022 adventure liking it as well 😀 Cheers
Thank You Jim! The 1050XT is a great bike. I like the red and white that pays tribute to the old DR Big. That is an amazing amount of mile you have on yours. One of the reasons I bought mine was the reputation for reliability over time. Looks like you are set up with the KLR also. The 800 doe look interesting. I am thinking it will sell a lot of models. Hope you are doing well and thanks for the sub and comment! Cheers!
Thanks Man! I like the looks of it also. It is not as capable as your BMW R1250GS but it should suit my needs. By the way, I subbed to your channel and WOW, you have ridden a lot of places and done a lot of excellent videos! It is gonna take me some time to watch them! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and Ride On! Cheers!
Doc, that's an incredibly through wall through if the bike, very impressive and informative! After spending 5K miles on a VStrom 1000, I still feel the VStrom is the ideal Adventure bike for most of us. - Frank
Thanks Frank! I have been behind on videos and decided to take a day to begin to get caught up. The cruise control is amazing and makes a huge difference. I agree that it will suit most for the purpose of an adventure bike. I can't wait to see your video of you on the V 1000! Cheers!
I think Susuki did a good job with the updates. However, at a base $14k you can get an Africa Twin with far superior aftermarket support. I'm sure you will enjoy your new bike for years and miles to come.
It is a great bike! I have done some off road and the Tenere is definitely better off road. I guess it depends on what the requirements are. You hit on a key point about getting a bike that is comfortable to ride. It makes a huge difference!
I am not sure if you can scroll through the menu while you’re using the cruise control. I have mistakenly hit the menu button and changed the display while in cruise control so it probably would work. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I’ve got a great opportunity to trade my 2019 VStrom 1000XT Adventure for a 2022 VStrom 1050XT… (+) - The 2022 has cruise control and no miles (throttle lock and 25,000 miles on current VStrom)… (-) - The current VStrom is set up exactly like I like, and I will want to add several thousand dollars of things to the new bike …. Those things are: Luggage, heated grips, auxiliary lights, new Zumo XT mount, highway pegs, lowered foot pegs, and Dunlop Trail Max Missions. I’ll need to evaluate if I change the wind screen, the comfort of the seat in the tall position, height of the handle bars, and wind screen. After listing all the above maybe I should keep the current VStrom 🤔. Your review was very good concerning what features the bike has. The Adventure model having the luggage, aux lights, and heated grips is nice. It’s apparent you like the bike a lot already. You should end up liking it even more after you do several long trips with it.
Hello V Track! This is a tough one to address. Sounds like your 2019 is really set up well. Just my two cents, the newer version has just a little more power and real cruise control (due to throttle by wire). Sounds like you would be giving up a bike that is perfect for your needs to start over with another bike that has the added benefit of cruise control. Don't get me wrong, the cruise control is a huge bonus on longer rides but adding all of the additional items to set it up as the adventure model (about $3,000) may not be worth the swap as you mentioned. This is a tough call for sure. As far as the windscreen, I am not crazy about the stock 2022 windscreen due to some buffeting I experience (6' 2") even in the low position. I did rotate the bars up for a better position for standing and it is really comfortable for me at my height. I do love the bike a lot and the last 1500-mile trip, it did really well. Hope you end up in the right spot on this and please let us know what you end up doing. Take care Brother! Cheers!
Frank! Just so you know, OBI mentioned I should get into the cruise control due to you wondering about it. It really does work great. Makes longer rides much easier for sure! Cheers!
