I would like to preface my comment with the FACT that TH-cam let me know that I should keep my comments respectful...as if this was my first dis respect comment...lol.. But all i wanted to add is...leverage is a thing in a far off place...but also in ur garage. Some tools are inconvenient but once u have them they come with u. To each their own. Thought u did a great job on the vid. So many options and opinions all valid. To each their own :)
Hi Brad! Well put! I carry the smaller levers on the bike and the larger ones stay in the garage. You definitely know what it is like to be in a far off place on a trip on the DR! Thank you for the kind words my Friend! Cheers!
Good morning, DOC650, Good advice! I always keep the tire irons in the rear pocket of the saddle bag that I flop from bike to bike, on the other bag in the same back pocket I have a crescent wrench that is handy for rebending those rear brake levers. In the old desert racing days guys would duct tape tire spoons, clutch levers and shift lever to a straight piece of the bike or frame? We have evolved since then with the fancy bags, but it worked. Good message.
@@verbalwidget0919 Morning - ha ha - dude, I just did an engineering fucking marvel - Totally WIDGET WORKS - unless the metal (aluminum) fails after all the heating & bending. If my footage came out - you'll see LOL.... Another reason I couldn't make it the other day - The DR was "INOP" lol....
Thanks! I haven't had levers with me when I ride but have been concerned about the possibility of a flat. I see the advantage of having a pry bar for multiple uses. I put together a better tool kit for both of my bikes. I think that I will get the levers and a spare tube. I recently bought one of the small battery-operated compressors and have carried CO2 cartridges all along. Should work on my tubeless street bike tires but not so much on the dirt bike. I Slimed the tubes but know that this may not get it done. I wonder about getting a center stand or an auxiliary stand to help get the wheel off the bike on the trail. I've been able to get out for a short ride this week and hope to have some time to ride at least until July.
Rob! Great to hear from you! You are sooo correct about improving the tool kit for the bike. Sounds like you have it covered quite well. Glad to hear you have been out on the bike! For me at least, it is complete therapy. Take care and you are in my thoughts! Cheers!
I like that bead breaker. Definitely carry my tire irons when I’m off pavement. They’ve served many purposes from impromptu fire poker/cup retriever to this-gate-isn’t-supposed-to-be-closed gate opener. Never know when you might need some extra leverage. Thanks and ride safe!
Andrew! Well said! The possible uses are endless. Unfortunately, I made this video based on experience. The bead breakers are just the right size to be handy for just about anything and they are not very heavy. Spot on comment Brother! Cheers!
Thanks Brother! Yeah, dinged up but still mission capable LOL! The DR is a friggin Tank! Very tough! Thanks again for the tip on the front fender! Your content is amazing! You have a great weekend also! Cheers!
DOC - NEW INTRO ROCKS !!! - MUSIC ROCKS !!!!! - And great tech tip video for sure. I carry a pair in my tail bag, along with a whole whack of other tools - but not so sure I'd have thought of that one. Awesome brother !!!! - Keep 'em coming - and just shy of 300 subs. That is tits !!!!! Cheers Mate - Now to get my DR back together LOL.....
Thanks OBI! I figured you had this one covered! Looking forward to seeing you and Thor out and about! I am really interested in how your fabrication went with the light mount! Cheers!
Hello Doc, sound advice. It's not uncommon to bend the clutch or brake lever in, and as you said, something to give you leverage is going to help pull it out. - Frank
Thanks Frank! Well said. I had to go with what I had and even though it did not completely fix the lever, it was good enough to limp back home. 😁Cheers!
