    Good stuff, Doc. Great point about the luggage racks too. They’re much more than just for holding your luggage. I wish I had used the frame guards - my paint has long since been worn off by my boots. Ride safe!

      Thanks Andrew! Great to hear from you! The pannier racks helped a lot. I also like the frame guards do to their added grip when riding. Hope the weather out there is improving so you can get some saddle time!

    Great video ! Thanks for keeping them coming. I noticed that your front brake line is routed on the outside of the fork. It should be routed on the inside between the fork and wheel to protect it from snags and abrasion.

    • @verbalwidget0919
      @verbalwidget0919 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good eye. my DR650 was like that, and I flopped it over, so the brake line was on the inside.

      Thanks Sonny! Glad you are enjoying the videos! Thanks for the tip on the brake line! You are spot on about the routing! Looks like I will be fixing it here shortly! Thank You again!

    Hey Doc, you really worked that old plate over! The oil cooler is exposed and the stock "guard" seems little more than chicken wire. Yours looks solid.
    I like the Acerbis frame guards, I found them to be remarkably good for gripping.
    Thank you for the look at your protective farkles! - Frank

    I'm thinking on the skid plate I'd drill some holes in it to allow airflow. With an aircooled motor that's going to be important.

    • @doc650adventures
      @doc650adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Billy! Yeah, I thought about possibly making some holes in the skid plate but reconsidered due to most if not all of the cooling happens above the plate at the cylinder head and oil cooler. I also like the upgraded level of protection this new plate gives the bike. Thanks for commenting!
      Cheers!

    First off DOC, I'm glad that you did not get seriously hurt in that fall. The DR650 took some good hits for sure. I'm swapping the KLR skid plates for more coverage myself, even my soft saddle bags have cushioned the impact to the sides of my bike. I'm enjoying these video DOC650. Great information. Agreed ... front fender looks cool.

    • @doc650adventures
      @doc650adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks VW! It was a good smack for sure. I upgraded my skid plate after seeing what happened with the Ricochet plate. The soft bags do offer protection and make a huge difference with protection. This video is an attempt to highlight some "Lessons Learned" from the trip to Uwharrie. Hope you are doing well and
      Cheers!
