Yeah it was strange to have a Heron follow us around. I’ve never caught a grass carp, but they do get very big!

Yeah there are big grass carp there. It would be fun to revisit to target those!

Yeah I suppose it is a little strange, last year the lake was closed for boating because of an algae bloom. Maybe that has something to do with it. It’s a nice little lake though.

@@Jonalexxx hi no thsts gone.i tslked to the crew who tested the water last fri.said the rain is helping and its good right now.fishing is judt tough sometimes the bass are somewhere else deeper maybe or near thicker cover .i dong move around due to health so im only gonna catch whatever swims in my catch zone and they have to want it.lol

@@Jonalexxx yes for every keeper its 6 dinks. somedays all dinks .today i git 1 big one .i use a sm setup 6 lb test, a lews spinning reel and a 6 foot rod.thinkin about an ultra light but i have 2 med light rods that handle that job and 2 med action rods for topwatet bites and crankbaits .its crazy days u expect the bite and it dont happen

The flukes? Definitely weightless. You’re gonna need either 4lb or 6lb line to get good casting distance. Anything heavier and you won’t get much casting distance.

i say i get bit 4 to 1 without a weight.weighfs are good on really windy days.

In spring they love the white. It definitely works the best. The watermelon works well in the summer, but my favorite is the white pearl.

BTW are you using a 3 hook or a 1? I tried a 1 on the Zoom fluke and I dunno it seemed a little small. I also bought some. New size 4 swim jig heads for them and promptly lost one at Needwood. Man that place is snag central.

@@MichaelVonEerie single worm offset hooks and weightless. The idea is to rig it weedless to avoid snags.

Ya just got back from Dicks. A 3 hook definitely looks better than the 1 size I was using. GOOGAN lured are discounted there so I picked up some jigs too . Headed to Needwood tonight, hopefully won't get skunked agaib.

The fishing is very tough. You won’t get many bites, but you have the chance to catch a big pike or bass. It’s a lot of fun tho. If you want to go on the weekend I suggest you get there early cuz boats go quickly on the weekends.

I got in the pattern of grassy flats edges, I always struggle to find a pattern there at least from the bank. This is Clopper lake about 15-20 minutes from Needwood.

I've only tried Coopper once last summer and there was so much topwater algae I gave up. Very mucky. Looks prettyy clear in your video though. Haven't tried Senexa lake yet though wanting to go up maybe next week

Yeah anything with current is blown out right now. Pretty much unfishable, but it’s good for lakes it brings the water up without losing much visibility. Rivers won’t be good to fish for at least a couple weeks tho

You should definitely use it. You fish that lake so often I’m surprised I haven’t bumped into you yet.

@@Jonalexxx The first fish I caught on a fluke was a PB a few years back. For some reason though, I hardly use it. Yeah, Clopper is a favorite of mine. I’m sure we’ll bump into each there some day.😆

It was really fun! The beans I made by first making sautéed onions with some garlic, ginger, tomatoes(season well). Then you put the beans in and season with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and a little tumeric. You can use canned beans or make them fresh beforehand.

Yes you still need a MD fishing license to fish there even when you’re on the rental boats.

@@Jonalexxx thanks for the reply. I meant the permit from Baltimore county but I think that's for boats. I know they have weird regulations there

Been trying to fish there with my kayak but can never get a permit. I didn't know they had rentals.

Yeah if you’re trying to launch your own kayak/boat yes you need a boating permit. They also rent kayaks there and you don’t need a kayak permit to take out their kayaks. IDK what they charge for the kayaks tho. The place it’s called Loch Raven Fishing Center.
