    Love your videos! Have you tried Serge Lutens Fils de Joie? I thought you'd love it and it is still available in the grey market before it's either discontinued or being repackaged into the exorbitant bell jar or gratte-ciel bottle. Fils de joie broke my no buy but no regrets 😂

    Ah finally someone else who doesn’t get the hype around herba Fresca. You know I haven’t had much luck with the aqua allegoria’s period. They were some of my first bottles when I started collecting hot and heavy 4 years ago. I got lys back then and it almost borders on nauseating. I try every couple of years to see if my nose has matured, but nope. And it definitely should be right up my alley. Oh well. I haven’t tried to get any more since the herba Fresca blind buy many years ago at this point.

    HI Wendy. I only own two, Bergamot Calabria and Pamplelune. I like both very much but they are so short lasting I find I forget to wear them! I do like them in the hottest weather though and that is when I end up wearing them. Guerlain is my favorite house but this line is not one I buy a lot from because they are just so light for me and they are no longer as affordable. Thanks for your thoughts! Julia

    Nice to see a video from you; it sounds like a beautiful scent! My most obscure fragrance is called Ferentina; it was made by Caesars World. It's a floral frag with marigold, orange flower on top; along with sandalwood, musk and amber in the base. I went through 1 bottle in the late 90s, then picked up another bottle when I was back in Vegas in the early 2000's. It's now been discontinued so I cherish my 2 other backups that I purchased during another trip there. I'm wearing it today!

    Fantastic review here and also on Fragrantica. Yes that website has had more ads than usual making it very sluggish, it’s so frustrating. La nuit de Neblina by Yves Rocher has only two reviews and one of them is a question on where to find it. 😂 And to be fair I only have the empty bottle in my collection now for nostalgia bc it’s a Sophia Grojsman creation and 25 years old. 😊 I wanted to mention in case you didn’t know that Thomas O’Brian (Ouch110) mentioned you in a recent video he did where he answered questions that viewers asked. They just put out a Dior Sakura dupe, as well as so many other incredible fragrances. They also have some truly amazing originals too so don't sleep on those. Dewy Lilac, Jardin De Jasmine, and Modesty are three originals off the top of my head from DUA that I love and own. They have a sale every weekend, sometimes lasting for a week or more. • @jraaccounts

    oh and! i have a question for you, having watched so many of your videos and admiring your collection: how do you choose the perfumes that you buy? do you sample first, blind buy, both? if you blind buy, how do you decide - based on the notes listings, fragrantica/etc reviews, youtube reviewers, something else? i'm curious because i find that a lot of perfumes i'm interested in (older designer perfumes) aren't available on the various decant websites. and you seem to make good picks so i'm very curious what your process is!

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh gosh that is a very random process. Oddly enough when I've tested first I mostly don't love the fragrances enough to buy a FB, while when I blind buy I tend to like them more. Lately sampling costs are SO expensive, I am reluctant to buy even spray vials, let alone decants (some 5 or 10 ml decants can cost upwards of 50 or 60 bucks nowadays!) That said for instance I bought a carded sample of Amouage Meander, I don't really like it, and psychologically I feel like I'm saving money because it won't be a $250 FB purchase. I blind buy a LOT but I spend a LOT of time reading reviews. I like reviews a lot, and I pay equal attention to the good reviews and the bad reviews. Certain keywords, like vintage, old lady, dated. Or ambrox, synthetic, sweet. Review quality has declined though as there are few blogs anymore that have content that is authentic, vs. commercial. I still sort through Fragrantica, Basenotes, Parfumo, and the occasional YT review (which are also becoming commercial.) I had a period of time where I bought a LOT of vintages. I guess I saw the writing on the wall, and there was a lot of IFRA restrictions coming down the pipe awhile back. Unfortunately buying vintage is a gamble, especially if it's not a "new" sealed vintage. Also, people are faking vintages left and right so at this point it's not that safe to buy vintage anymore. So I guess I sample occasionally, blind buy a lot after research, and sometimes I just buy impulsively and it works out. Hope that answers a few things!

    i've been enjoying your videos so much. your perfume pics are always very interesting and i love how you describe them. i think our tastes overlap somewhat, and also, we're about the same age. can't wait to hear what you're choosing for summer. my collection is filled with stronger, heavier perfumes that i don't find myself reaching for so much in the warmer weather (or when i do, they just don't feel right) so i'm trying to get inspiration from checking out other people's spring / summer picks. BTW i'm curious, given that you like lilac path, have you ever tried pacifica's french lilac? it's a great cheapie lilac soliflore.

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I definitely shy away from the heavy stuff in the summer months, much as I love that style of fragrance. I really hate warm weather and anything that amplifies that feeling I just stay away from. That said occasionally I'll spray something strong just to get a reminder of things. I've tested French Lilac and I agree it's a really pretty solifore, especially for the price!

(and probably will again, lol). there are so many in this video i wish i could try. i've tried no. 19 EDP but from your description i'm curious about the EDT, sounds like it would be more up my alley. and gucci no. 3! and aliage. with aliage there are a lot of bottles of the most current formulation out there but i wonder how they compare to the vintage (or to the one you have).

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

They make dupes and original, hybrids, tribrids and quadbrids, combining different fragrances into one. They have over 2k fragrances to choose from and they do new releases and restocks every Friday. They have sales every weekend and that's the only time I buy is during the sales. I have never paid more than $40/bottle. Their bottles are 34 ml but they have some fragrances available in 10 ml as well. They dupe niche and designer but their originals are good too (hit or miss though).

Spring is all about Iris for me, and every other season as well. 😊 I’ve been reaching for M + Iris and Fleur de Peau, I’ve also been wearing Puredistance Opardu and No.1 quite often. We’re still getting a lot of cool weather in New England including today. I am testing Blanche Bete . I’m not sure, it’s very sweet and not my usual style. Have you tried it? I love your videos. Just got around to watching this episode. Congrats on the successful no-buy so far. I'd picked up a Miller Harris recently (feuilles de tabac) and Equipage Geranium earlier this year, and found it interesting to see it in this video :) I'm not on a no-buy as such, but hoped to buy fewer bottles this year, but haven't been too successful with that. I loved that you're able to revisit your older bottles and find magic in them - esp the ex Idolo one. Cheers!!

      @@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 I'm loving the Feuilles de Tabac! It's been a bit rainy here where I live, in India, so a bit cooler, and that's a good time to wear this one. It has a bit of a vintage masculine opening with pine needles and some herbs and spices followed by slightly honeyed tobacco and then some patchouli in the base. With all those notes, one would feel like it should have 8 hour plus performance, but I get 5-6 hours with moderate projection (which is good enough for me). Equipage Geranium is amazing, it's so smooth and smells great in the air. Ah, and nice stuff sticking with your older bottles. I try to self-impose a no-buy once in a while, but then when something else in missing in my life, I look out for what new perfumes are out there to get 😳😳There was a 20% off coupon for first time buyers in a retail site here in India, and I picked up a bunch of Serge 🥺😬

      @@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 you just quoted Monica, didnt you? Excellente. Alright here’s my take on the no buy. What’s the purpose? To change your habits? Or are you masochistic? Or showing yourself and the world that you have self control? Hey, power is an aphrodisiac of sorts I suppose. But if you plan to buy the bottle later anyway, it just feels like a flex. A silly one if you can save your wallet many cents by buying now. I think I could get behind a no-buy period if you’re trying to stop yourself from impulse buying so that you don’t make stupid purchases. But if you are committed to buying something but just have given arbitrary dates at when you can buy, it seems self defeating and self deceiving. But I’ll caveat this all by saying we all do things differently and what works for one person doesnt for another. So no judgment. That’s just the conversation I have in my head for me.
