    Oh, Wendi, don’t stress. We always like hearing from you. I’m glad you posted this video. Good job by sticking to you ‘no-buy’ - very inspiring. I blind bought quite a bit in the past few years and thinking about selling it to compress my collection. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Oh yes, that tired thing. I and Everyone I know were there a couple of months ago. Nothing but brain fog. Now the common trend for everybody around me has been emotions central. Angry, stressed, short tempered, sometimes elated, roller coaster for sure. I thought it was ‘the change’ coming for me. Then I realized everyone around me was going through it too. But they’re not all my age and they’re not all females hahah. So something else is going on. Anyway, there you go again with the off the beaten trail of Annick goutal. Such obscure ones. Love it. Yes a dedicated goutal video would be tres cool……I started asking about your no buy dilemma with the cheap bottle tease. But I deleted it all because I’m in no position to either steer you towards or away. We all have our journey. I’ll stick to my lane.

      Well I am balls deep in perimenopause and I have like every symptom in the book so it's like one of those days...also coming off a multi day migraine headache which I never really used to get, but that is also a side effect of menopause. And there is something in the air as well, people have been strange for sure.
      I would love your take on the no buy dilemma & cheap bottle tease! You can turn signal and merge:)

      @@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 you just quoted Monica, didnt you? Excellente. Alright here’s my take on the no buy. What’s the purpose? To change your habits? Or are you masochistic? Or showing yourself and the world that you have self control? Hey, power is an aphrodisiac of sorts I suppose. But if you plan to buy the bottle later anyway, it just feels like a flex. A silly one if you can save your wallet many cents by buying now. I think I could get behind a no-buy period if you’re trying to stop yourself from impulse buying so that you don’t make stupid purchases. But if you are committed to buying something but just have given arbitrary dates at when you can buy, it seems self defeating and self deceiving. But I’ll caveat this all by saying we all do things differently and what works for one person doesnt for another. So no judgment. That’s just the conversation I have in my head for me.

      @@wendisparadeofperfumes5034 nope nope listen to nothing I said earlier. I’ve been thinking about this all day. I’ve been rationalizing MY weakness away. To have control over whatever (yourself primarily) is not trivial and certainly not just some byproduct of a vain pursuit (being powerful). There are drawbacks to floating thru life sometimes, subject to the capricious winds of our weaknesses is not something to aspire to. Damn it girl. I’m going on a no-buy. I turn 48 in less than 1.5 hrs. My 48th year I will show myself I am strong.

      @@kellylyons7611 Happy Birthday! We're the same age. I'm turning 45 on the 17th. And I like that philosophical question, do we float along and give into our capricious impulses or do we basically try to be mindfully aware and in control of ourselves? What mind do we abide?

      @@kellylyons7611Wow relate to all of this. I guess if I'm trying to let perfume "go" is restraint part of the process or just a show when I'm going to do it later anyway? Is patience a virtue? Do I reframe with time? Is it more mindful if I make a careful decision?

    Wendi, please know that your videos are always a pleasure to watch, no matter what. I think we are the same age (I turn 45 next week), and I also enjoy the older style fragrances. Right now I am still obsessed with Guerlain Nerolia Vetiver, thanks to you! The other night I wore Mon Guerlain to bed. When I first tried it, I thought it was a bit lame for a Guerlain, but I sometimes crave it.

    I'm really into florals too. I can't get enough of them, groundbreaking or not. Florals will always be "in" IMO. Also, I've been reslly into DUA fragrances lately.... can't get enough of them. They make dupes and original, hybrids, tribrids and quadbrids, combining different fragrances into one. They have over 2k fragrances to choose from and they do new releases and restocks every Friday. They have sales every weekend and that's the only time I buy is during the sales. I have never paid more than $40/bottle. Their bottles are 34 ml but they have some fragrances available in 10 ml as well. They dupe niche and designer but their originals are good too (hit or miss though).

    Hi Wendy, I enjoyed your scent choices for spring. Spring is all about Iris for me, and every other season as well. 😊 I’ve been reaching for M + Iris and Fleur de Peau, I’ve also been wearing Puredistance Opardu and No.1 quite often. We’re still getting a lot of cool weather in New England including today. I am testing Blanche Bete . I’m not sure, it’s very sweet and not my usual style. Have you tried it? I love your videos. Thanks again!

    i've been enjoying your videos so much. your perfume pics are always very interesting and i love how you describe them. i think our tastes overlap somewhat, and also, we're about the same age. can't wait to hear what you're choosing for summer. my collection is filled with stronger, heavier perfumes that i don't find myself reaching for so much in the warmer weather (or when i do, they just don't feel right) so i'm trying to get inspiration from checking out other people's spring / summer picks. BTW i'm curious, given that you like lilac path, have you ever tried pacifica's french lilac? it's a great cheapie lilac soliflore.

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I definitely shy away from the heavy stuff in the summer months, much as I love that style of fragrance. I really hate warm weather and anything that amplifies that feeling I just stay away from. That said occasionally I'll spray something strong just to get a reminder of things.
      I've tested French Lilac and I agree it's a really pretty solifore, especially for the price!

  • @jraaccounts
    @jraaccounts หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    oh and! i have a question for you, having watched so many of your videos and admiring your collection: how do you choose the perfumes that you buy? do you sample first, blind buy, both? if you blind buy, how do you decide - based on the notes listings, fragrantica/etc reviews, youtube reviewers, something else? i'm curious because i find that a lot of perfumes i'm interested in (older designer perfumes) aren't available on the various decant websites. and you seem to make good picks so i'm very curious what your process is!

    • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh gosh that is a very random process. Oddly enough when I've tested first I mostly don't love the fragrances enough to buy a FB, while when I blind buy I tend to like them more.
      Lately sampling costs are SO expensive, I am reluctant to buy even spray vials, let alone decants (some 5 or 10 ml decants can cost upwards of 50 or 60 bucks nowadays!) That said for instance I bought a carded sample of Amouage Meander, I don't really like it, and psychologically I feel like I'm saving money because it won't be a $250 FB purchase.
      I blind buy a LOT but I spend a LOT of time reading reviews. I like reviews a lot, and I pay equal attention to the good reviews and the bad reviews. Certain keywords, like vintage, old lady, dated. Or ambrox, synthetic, sweet.
      Review quality has declined though as there are few blogs anymore that have content that is authentic, vs. commercial. I still sort through Fragrantica, Basenotes, Parfumo, and the occasional YT review (which are also becoming commercial.)
      I had a period of time where I bought a LOT of vintages. I guess I saw the writing on the wall, and there was a lot of IFRA restrictions coming down the pipe awhile back. Unfortunately buying vintage is a gamble, especially if it's not a "new" sealed vintage. Also, people are faking vintages left and right so at this point it's not that safe to buy vintage anymore.
      So I guess I sample occasionally, blind buy a lot after research, and sometimes I just buy impulsively and it works out.
      Hope that answers a few things!

I have started to get interested in whit florals this spring, very interesting since these florals especially tuberose have been difficult to like or tolerate at all for me. I just got on old bottle of Fille en Aiguilles from Serge Lutens that a friend gifted me, and I LOVE that stuff. I also got a preloved bottle of Dear John from Lush, a very nice clove, vetiver and musk perfume. • @wendisparadeofperfumes5034
      @wendisparadeofperfumes5034  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I like good old FragranceNet, and I buy decants from them as well. I like Parfums de France for niche decants. That said decants are getting hella expensive and I'm not sure that I'll buy them anymore.
      JomaShop isn't bad but their shipping takes FOREVER.
      BeautyEncounter and FragranceBuy.Ca are solid.
      On Ebay I trust ForeverLux, FineScents, and LilyDirect and this importer called SAIHOLDINGS. There's a lot of legit storefronts but you have to be careful because there are SO many fakes. Just insane.
      Around the holidays there are nice coupons from Nordstrom, Saks, and Macys for other stuff.
      Hope this helps:)
