Did the dude see any bad ghost?
How odd...A Trick in the Trail channel got sick in more or less the same place as you, same symptoms etc. Might be dodgy water?
Good decision , it'll still be there next time, though it is best at the quieter times .
Nice video, I hope you recovered from your bug. I'm planning on hiking the southern half of the WHW in February so the winter perspective was useful.
Unlucky on the sickness derailing your attempt, always next time. Am no expert, but was curious to know how clean the stream water is to actually drink?
I done it in 2 1/2 days with a 14kg day back pack. Stayed overnight at B&Bs. I wrecked my knee at the end of day 1. It got so painful as I went on that I was almost hoping. Was about to quit with 30 miles to go, a guy in a raincoat appeared and told me there’s a bus stop 10 minutes off the path. The way he said it spurred me on to complete the full walk in the said time. Took me 3 months to recover my knee with no permanent damage. Either way if I had got that bus it would have been a super achievement to make the commitment to do the walk. So would not have lost no matter my choice.
I wouldn't try it in winter months; you have no idea how the weather might turn. If you have an accident on the tops, well that could be you gone.
Hope your feeling better wee man👍🏴.
That was fantastic. It wasn't a fail at all, just a lesson in wisdom, well done, good lad ! What was your pack weight please?
We tried the West Highland way back in 86 during this time of year. 4 of us, not one days experience between us except for one guy. It was the most miserable experience, we were washed out, the army who was doing it at the same time put us up at the church hall with them for somewhere to sleep and made us breakfast in the morning before we headed back to Glasgow, great times. The next year we did it during the summer and made it. We wanted a whole brass band as we walked into Fort William, never got it but again great experiences along the way
Chin up mate i failed twice due to blisters.I know use trail runners apart from winter conditions
Guy goes out for a walk.Camps a night goes home.
Aw mate it was going so well, you could hear the joy in your voice at the sunset. Hopefully you recover soon. 💪🏻
Uabhasach breagha nach eil 😅
No fail - looking after yourself in those conditions is the only call
Years ago I was in Scotland with my brothers, we visited some lodges and looked at the country and the people. It was great! Unfortunately some of the brothers were not good at walking, so I couldn't go hiking. But I'm thinking about going to the Highlands with my twin sons next year. Thank you for showing us such beautiful landscapes. I wish you and all other readers the best of health, a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.
The second TH-camr I've seen come down with a vomiting bug on the WHW. Perhaps some of those taps aren't as safe as you'd think?
Dude, you spent half this video just getting there. It isn't haunted, but cool story. May want to cut out adding creepy music. It kills any realism the place has.
If you drank straight from the river that may be the culprit...not the cleanest of sources.
Gregor did you drink from that stream you camped next too? It's been well known to make people sick or runs...even with filter. I had the latter soo did the TH-camr Becky girl outdoors. Well done I've watched you doing your thing on numerous hikes soo next year come back and you will easily smash it.. And Yes the pink honesty box (Bens Bakes) is the only one open this time of the year and also the last one on this hike. Some small new ones are popping up later on, i.e. just before Rannoch Moore.... Merry Christmas Gregor
dropping the kids off at the pool ....sounds like you had a dose of the tex ritters as well.something you ate ? drinking water out a burn sounds great but you should always have a look to see if theres a deid sheep further up leaking its guts into the water. Its happened to me and it could have happened to you.
I had to bail at the half way point on the coast to coast with a shin splint, which I've never had before, it's gutting but you just have to suck it up and regroup, I'm going again in May. I'm sure you'll be back, and completing it will be all the sweeter the second time around.
