Notts Forest vs Sunderland - Understanding Le Bris Play?
Nottingham Forest took on Sunderland AFC in a Pre-Season Friendly. Sunderland fielded a strong starting 11 and gave them a hard workout with no substitutes until after the hour mark in the Spanish heat.
But what did we learn about how Regis Le Bris plans to make Sunderland play. Quite a lot as it happens. Check out the video to find out.

All about Regis Le Bris - A Tactical Lowdown

Sunderland signed Lorient manager Regis Le Bris this week. A year ago he was wanted by Nice and Leeds United. He has a reputation for developing youth players, after 10 years heading up Lorient's Academy and made Lorient the surprise League 1 package in 2022/23 in his first season in management. His second season was a disaster though and ended in relegation last summer. With an overachieving t...

Huff & Puff against The Brizzle Sunderland vs Bristol City

Following the Blue Monday rout by Blackburn Rovers, how would Mike Dodds and Sunderland respond as an upbeat Bristol City rolled into the Stadium of Light. Top video again and really enjoyable analysis. Thought there goal was because O'Nien dived in and was too easy to get away from. He does that too often and Le Bris should tell him we can't always win the ball in those positions so just block off the pass.In my thinking that's more an individual error than a system one.

    • @altending
      @altending 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, There's a series of problems with the goal, and the stuff I highlighted before about the centre halves and Midfielders in terms of who takes the runner or not play into this as well. But it's pre-season so I'm not going to be too hard on them learning a new system. It does show that they have to rely on each other to at correctly though. Thanks for taking the time to drop a positive comment, I really do appreciate it. And the notes and thoughts all feed into the things I look at so keep them coming too.

  • @ekwahsafc

    One thing I hope changes under le Bris is having all of our players in our box when defending corners. Because we leave no players further up the pitch we can’t counter attack or keep the ball if we clear the ball away. By leaving let’s say 2 players up the pitch, the opposition have to leave at least 2 more men back, then our box isn’t as congested. For example I don’t see the point in roberts being back to defend, especially when he has the ability to run with the ball and counter attack.

    Thanks, a good analysis. Your channel deserves more subscribers. Le Bris had been in post for less than 3 weeks when this game was played. That being so I think the extent to which the squad have taken his ideas on board is quite encouraging. Yes, plenty of mistakes, but it’s clear they mostly know what they’re supposed to be doing, and there’s almost another three weeks to go before the season starts. I very much like what we’re trying to do out of possession, with the wingers coming narrow. Last year the centre of our midfield had a population density roughly the same as Alaska. Now all we have to do is remember to track the runners.

      Yes, I know it's a highlights reel, but it would take too long to seek out video footage for errors. I think we know we've got a decent player, not a world beater. We need solid, experienced players and a midfielder. He fits the bill nicely. I think I did point out his weaknesses in the stats section though. In any case, what kind of fans would we be to slate a perfectly decent footballer with a shitty video moaning about him. Start of the season man! We each start with optimism, it would all be too miserable if we didn't given so few of us will end up winning anything.

    i notice browne has an excellent almost injury free record over the last 10 years, lets see if the safc injury gods leave him alone. it's about time they gave us a break...

    Great vid Trenchy. Ha'way the data! Nice to see Sunderland AFC change their tact with signings, and sign someone over 21. I am all for the kids and youth, but they need nurtured, and to have that experience in there to assist. Browne will provide that. Hopefully a few more in this mould to come through, and get some of the youth sent out on loan to lower championship/L1 teams to develop.

      Where does the data come from

    • @altending
      @altending หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnmurray5573 I get that form using the advanced comparison application on FB ref. You can add/subtract players on the left, but you have to be careful comparing similar years and not comparing full career stats to someone who has one season. And I am unsure about comparing different years. This is why Cory Evans doesn't figure in the data I presented. He barely played last season and that is a comparison of the three playing the same season. It isn't working atm...but I'll post a link to the comparison I did and you can mess about with it and look yourself. I'm sure you might spot some things I didn't or view some other things differently.

      Yes, first time I've been able to do that data comparison with our players to evaluate if it's a good signing. I think it worked well to demonstrate some points. He seems to be a solid, sensible signing. I have of course, jinxed him by referring to his unblemished decade long injury record.

      Not really fella...went to bed at 7am after finishing that. It take about an hour to make a minute of video, but there's the research and scripting before that. Obviously it's a generous portrayal. I have often thought of doing worst reviews with clips of all their own goals or red cards and cock ups, but it would take an age to seek it all out, but it might be fun to do. Thanks anyway and I reckon Browne will be a solid, useful signing for us.
