มุมมอง 3.4K8 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video we wild camp in what many people consider to be Snowdonia’s last remaining wilderness, the rough and secluded Rhinog mountain range. The landscape, which is favourably compared with the Scottish highlands certainly lived up to its reputation, with fairly discreet trails and slow going boulder scrambles in parts. The aim of the camp was to tackle and camp atop Rhinog Fach, commonly...

Blea Water Wild Camp | The Deepest Tarn in The Lake District
Comprehensive review. Covered all the bases including the modifications. I have the Starlight 2 which isn't that much heavier and has the extra space. Had it in 50mph gusts and wasn't an issue. Pegs are like razor blades so they went straight away. Pound for pound it's a very good alternative to the likes of the Hilleberg or Fjallraven.
Surprised 'they' haven't made us say 2 'person' tent by now😅
Solid looking design, but the 75d fabric seems over-specified, which accounts for the weight. I have a shelter that can take north of 70 mph with no damage, and it's only 30d. The Akto also uses a 30d, and there's a film here on TH-cam of it surviving in a measured 80mph. For another affordable Akto alternative that's much lighter, check out the TarpTent Scarp. They adapted it to meet the demands of UK weather, and it's quite popular over here.
Got my fingers crossed for an upcoming new video!
Well. I've just sold mine to a friend 50 qid, after watching this I'm getting another one 😂 won't tell. The wife
Lovely area and as you say much less trodden than other areas, but being a local fell runner and wild camper myself I have to say one consequence of social media has been creating more quieter areas in the park, it seems with more people using Instagram to decide where to visit people have become far less adventurous than they were just 15 years ago, I've noticed the busy areas get much busier and the moderately quiet areas turn into ghost towns.
I'll be camping for a week next summer in Borrowdale so this area looks great, some proper stuff to get out teeth into. Cheers for once again a well put together vid.
Loved it, this walk is definitely on the list for next summer. Great quality vid.
A great vid, just about the right amount of everything, superb editing. I'll definitely be heading up there next time I'm in the Lakes
That was possibly the best and most comprehensive review of a tent I have ever seen. The pitching instructions were 100% as I would do it (so it has to be good 😂), perfect. The features etc, well I don't think you missed anything. I was thinking, "well he's missed all the weights etc" but then you only go and list them at the end, superb. I'm subscribed and off to watch some more.
Great adventure. I'm interested in going to Norway next year. Do you have a route itinerary available? What's time of the year did you go.
great video. show how to use tent efficent n tips. watch few reviews on this tent and this one is by far the best review. the most information
just bought a Helm 2, great review... Any idea why it's called Helm?
You guys do awesome vids, really well done and curated 👍 Thinking of doing this in the next month, where did you chaps park just out of curiosity? Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Have taken a break whilst out hiking in this bothy. I remember walking through thick fog and taking shelter for a while here. It was absolutely packed full of people.
hello dudes, where about did you park.cool video aswell.
Great video, a good in depth review of a great little tent. I have two of these now. As you mentionex in your video, the worst feature is the sag of the inner, i have seen videos of modifications to this tent but i just wish OEX would address this themselves, i woukd would pay £50 more for this tent if oex did the mod in house.
Great short 👍
Just seen this tent on a website and I am interested. I currently have the bobcat 1 which is great. The only thing that bugs me is the interior pod size even with the trekking pole hack. Is this one much bigger on the interior and would you say it's a better tent than the bobby. Another on radar was 3f UL taiji 1. The Starlight does look rather like a expensive brand. Cheers for your reply in advance.
Thinking of buying this for small backpacking trips, looks good and thank you for the very detailed review 🎉
Enjoyed video, good flowing chat, find my Helm 2 great. Almost got a Helm 1 glad i went for larger version.subbed 👍
I have done the mods on my Bobcat , cut the tab on the inner zip used a pole for the guy line ,and put small cable ties on all of the hooks , it’s my first one man tent and I love it.
I think the 2 metal eyelets are for adjusting the tension of the fly. Outa eyelets for some give in windy conditions, inner eyelets a bit more tension to taught the fly for rain run off. Wild country state this in their video but the reasons to adjust are my theory. Clean/tidy video 👍🏻 sub’d for that reason
Maga credit for this vid. Best in depth review on this tent. I've just got a Helm 2 and this has helped me 👌
Great to see you back out lads I love your content. New tents looking very good lads!! I 👍👍💯
Fantastic camp and conditions 👍🙂
Awesome video…instantly subscribed
Superb from Rondane 👍🙂
You boys still active on TH-cam? Top tier content!Good to see young lads like myself getting out there⛰️💯
I got the bobcat earlier this year and absolutely love it I solved the problem of the inner tent with two tarpaulin clips either side of the center and two bungee cords and tent pegs to the ground to keep the inner taut and they work a treat great video as always
Did you attach the clips inside from the inner to the fly?
@@robmulcahy317 no I didn't attach the inner to the outer flysheet I peg the inner as normal IE separate just using bungee cords so the inner back wall is nice and taught and doesn't flap round
@@royphair9676 got you now. Cheers
Great review guys, I sold my TerraNova pioneer 2 earlier in the year, kinda regret it now so was thinking of getting another. I’ve been aware of the helm for a couple of years now and seen Hazey use it in all sorts of weather but never really looked at it properly… this looks like a decent cheaper alternative. Atb & happy trails Stu
How did you find the pioneer 2? Would you get another or stay clear?
@@jamescummings8956 tempted to get another you know, out on a camp tonight with my mate who bought mine, popped my head in earlier when I was filming the video for this camp and remembered how much I liked it. They do a compact version now aswell… But also really like the southern cross 2 🤔😂
Would you recommend this for 1 man or the compact 1
deffo for 1 person in comfort, I have a strict one person tent, and I feel claustrophobic, this is a palace!
What a great review of this tent, I have the Berghaus 3.1 which is very similar. Subscribed. Cheers. Tony
Before I bought my first tenta viewed several TH-cam videos and narrowed it down to the phoxx 2 and the bobcat . When I went millets to buy my tent they had several bobcats on the shelf at £120 and only 1 phoxx 2 at £85 . The guy in the shop said they sold more phoxx 2 then any other oex tents so I snapped up the cheaper tent and absolutely love it it came connected inner and outer and is easy to pitch and put away . I met a guy on a campsite who was a motorcyclist who had the bobcat and he was a huge guy and he hated the saggy inner and said he was going to upgrade to the phoxx 2 after he inspected mine
Most excellent. The best Bobcat 1 review and instruction I have seen on YT. Thanks.
that little tab on the zip my one hasn,t got that because i can put both zips on the top so i can look out so yes thats mad that your one has unless someone has cut it but they havn,t because its new
White Ronald Taylor George Martinez Margaret
is this better than the blizzard 2?
Love mine mate takes a propa beating, id even use it 4 seasons to be honest, a more of the expensive stuff i think there just taking the p**s on price lad. Im guna grab the helm 1 compact aswell no brainer
Fab review matey, I enjoyed that.
Thank you for the review.just bought a bobcat for hiking.. nicely explained and cheers for the mod tip..👍
Thank you. Absolutely Brilliant review. It highlighted the narrow width. I’ve gone for the 2man version based on your review, to have more space for winter camping. BTW, love the custom bezel on the SKX 🙌🏻
Thanks, Chaps, for a really well made, insightful and descriptive video which really captured the essence of the hike on a really spectacular day and evening. I’ll now be subscribing to the channel and look forward to watching more videos going into the Autumn and Winter.

Great work lads. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Good review 👍 I use tiny Carabiner clips in place of the hooks for the corners of the inner which work a treat as they are easy to remove if I need to separate the inner from the outer to air
Good review. Thanks. I was hesitating between the Forclaz MT500 and the Helm2….. this review definitely helped me make a decision…..The MT500 as i think it has better storage and it sags less in the wind.. aswell I don’t intend to camp during 4 seasons (yet) 😊
Is it long enough for a tall (1,95m) person? Or do you touch the tent wit head and feet?
You're too tall for camping. Grow smaller. Maybe on a not too high sleeping pad and the mesh pulled out much as possible it would go. But I can't guarantee you'll be happy. It can be very claustrophobic if the mesh hangs in your face.
TH-cam algorithm just threw up this video. Good to find a chanel with two fellow Scousers. Accents sound like the north of the city?
