I have done the mods on my Bobcat , cut the tab on the inner zip used a pole for the guy line ,and put small cable ties on all of the hooks , it’s my first one man tent and I love it.
I love these videos lads, the quality and editing is superb. Thanks for sharing the details of the tent. I have one myself and didn't know about that mod for the back. Thanks 👍
Thanks for the feedback we really appreciate it! It’s a great little mod, more so because you don’t need anything other than a trekking pole. All the best - BR
Before I bought my first tenta viewed several TH-cam videos and narrowed it down to the phoxx 2 and the bobcat . When I went millets to buy my tent they had several bobcats on the shelf at £120 and only 1 phoxx 2 at £85 . The guy in the shop said they sold more phoxx 2 then any other oex tents so I snapped up the cheaper tent and absolutely love it it came connected inner and outer and is easy to pitch and put away . I met a guy on a campsite who was a motorcyclist who had the bobcat and he was a huge guy and he hated the saggy inner and said he was going to upgrade to the phoxx 2 after he inspected mine
A superb tent for my three season cycles tours. I have also used this camping on the three Yorkshire Peaks in winter with no problems. For the £, you cannot go wrongg with a Bobcat.
I got the bobcat earlier this year and absolutely love it I solved the problem of the inner tent with two tarpaulin clips either side of the center and two bungee cords and tent pegs to the ground to keep the inner taut and they work a treat great video as always
@@robmulcahy317 no I didn't attach the inner to the outer flysheet I peg the inner as normal IE separate just using bungee cords so the inner back wall is nice and taught and doesn't flap round
got my bobcat 1 today and i didn,t have any problem getting the pole in and yes rather pleased with it and some good tips there im gunna remember when out in my first camp in it
Great value for money and it’s an absolute workhorse the Bobcat! Be interesting to see how this new OEX ultralight range does in terms of public reception. All the best - BR
Great review and a great tent. I love this little tent nearly as much as Ant survive the night. Fantastic tip on the trekking pole at the back. I was out at weekend in mine and 2 pals who also have the BC1. The biggest issue we had was the sleeping quarter giving your face a battering but it was very windy up yonda. Thanks for sharing it pal
Cracking tent mate and unbelievable value for money! Yeah it’s not massive on space but it’s worth giving the mod a go to see if that helps. All the best - BR
I have hillebergs, fjallravens. All sorts of tents, but I still love my little bobcat... I would say it is a 4 season tent.. I have had it out in horrendous conditions and it was unfazed... I put 4 of those tiny carabeaners on the four hooks quick, easy and effective. I have put it into semi-retirment, I care for it that much.. iam making a footprint for it , just to give it more protection... mine cost me £49... what a bargain for what a tent... Take care out there.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the tent and we think that’s the same sentiment shared by a lot of other bobcat owners. It’s never going to be the best tent in your collection, but it’s a proper guilty pleasure because it works and value for money wise it’s probably unbeatable. All the best - BR
I got mine last year for £59 I think, never been that price since. I like this tent for what it is - got it just as a sleeping room not as a backpacking shelter, but even as that it is impressive as to the speed of putting up and taking down - not only that the small size means that putting it away wet means that drying out takes only a small amount of space, it fits on the washing line!! Nice video
Good review 👍 I use tiny Carabiner clips in place of the hooks for the corners of the inner which work a treat as they are easy to remove if I need to separate the inner from the outer to air
Great video, a good in depth review of a great little tent. I have two of these now. As you mentionex in your video, the worst feature is the sag of the inner, i have seen videos of modifications to this tent but i just wish OEX would address this themselves, i woukd would pay £50 more for this tent if oex did the mod in house.
Great video, well presented, thamks. I have two Bobcat 1 tents, i think they are awesome. Have you got or tried tge OEX Cloud Peak 2? Great tent weighing in at 2.4kg.
Great review 👍Bombproof tent that can be up and down in a few minutes once you get the hang of it. My trusty little Bobcat is coming with me on a 4 day roadtrip to Scotland later this month. Not exactly wild camping, but I do want the minimum weight I can get away with in the boot of my little sportscar. I have done the carabiner mod to the corner hooks to make them more permanent, and am currently just using a garden cane for the rear guy line mod. (I will find something more suitable eventually lol) One thing I do have to disagree with you (and quite a few other reviewers too) is the lack of space for a taller person. I'm 6' 2" and can sleep in it no problem (Although I am a side sleeper which may help)
The first time I used this was in an absolute torrential downpour at a campsite in the forest of dean. I did wake up with puddles around the edge but have read through the comments and on reflection I don't think the guy ropes were tight enough to give it a fair go in such conditions. Too heavy and too big a pack size for bikepacking for me personally, but I'll certainly give it a go with the poles separately now and see if that is better.
that little tab on the zip my one hasn,t got that because i can put both zips on the top so i can look out so yes thats mad that your one has unless someone has cut it but they havn,t because its new

Most excellent. The best Bobcat 1 review and instruction I have seen on YT. Thanks.
