Camping amongst the Peak Districts infamous ‘Woolpacks’ | Essential Blizzard 2 Mod

  • In this video we head out on our first wild camp in the beautiful Peal District. Our journey took us from the lush Vale of Edale, up through the ever popular Grindsbrook Clough and onto the Kinder Scout Plateau. The weather was both windy and wet in equal measures.
    Once atop Kinder we made our way across the moorland paths, to what can only be described as the martian landscape that is the Woolpacks. The Woolpacks are a proud cluster of bulbous looking, Gritstone rock formations.
    Being unfamiliar to the area and with plenty of peaty bogs about we took our time to scour the location for a suitable camp. Eventually, we came across a pretty well sheltered bowl that allowed us to pitch camp out of reach, of the worst of the elements. The tents on this trip are the Wild Country Blizzard 2 & OEX Bobcat, and Gossamer Gear The One. This is the camp that followed.
    We hope you enjoy the video. If you do, please consider liking our video and subscribing to our channel. Cheers.

      Awesome, I've wanted to go there for a good few years now, and I will 2024.
      Excellent content as usual,
      Only way to top that camp would of been to bump into Pat Dickinson , the Master.

    Another great vid lads, keep it up 👍🏻 and if I had to pick one national park forever it'd be tough between Snowdonia and the lakes but I think the lakes would just edge it.

    • @borderraiders
      @borderraiders  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers mate and it’s a tough one, both have their own unique qualities and charms. The biggest being the Lakes probably has more readily available pitches compared to Snowdonia. All the best - BR

    Cracking camp again fellas!! Nice to see you venture into the Peaks.. it's about an hour away from me and kinder is my go to camp spot! A question for you Keith mate, I'm in the market for a stove (jetboil user).. would you recommend the Soto Windmaster after having it for a while or would suggest a different option?? Great tips with the naan breads and the carabiner mod!! 👍

    • @borderraiders
      @borderraiders  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers Rob and very lucky mate it’s beautiful. Looking forward to exploring it more going forward 👌 I’ve had both the stoves you mentioned and they both good. If the majority of food/cooking you do is boil in the bags, dehydrated meals, then it’s probably not worth it. If fancy cooking things like naan breads, frying things off etc then yeah it’s great. The actual wind-master itself has been great, and its really versatile and saves the hassle of the pot adapter on the Jetboil. It can be a tad fiddly fitting the support at times, but once on it’s solid and can hold big pots/pans no problem. If someone never had a stove and asked what setup to go for, I’d defo say windmaster & pan as it can do everything, with less fuss and realistically you’d never have to change system, unless you wanted your water to boil 20 seconds faster. I think the trick to getting the most out the windmaster, is getting a good pot/pan to make the most of the stove itself, otherwise may as well stay with jet-boil. Hope this helps, all the best - BR

      @@borderraiders It certainly does help matey.. Thanks very much for the prompt reply!! Have a look at doing a full circular loop of Kinder next time you're down this way. Some nice camp options around Seal stones on the north path. Also Kinder Downfall is worth seeing. Unbelievable what you can see from there on a clear day.. Snowdon, Whernside, Pen-y-ghent. also Manchester easily, Crewe and Ellsmere port!!

      iBasingo 1000ml Titanium Frying. Pop that into Amazon and it should come up. Had it a few months now and it’s not bad. It’s ok for things like stews in which you can keep it moving and gently bring it to simmer. But if you are wanting to fry stuff like burgers a lot you are better going with something that’s not titanium in our experience. All the best - BR
