    Love the alcohol stove. To avoid the fuff that you just went through, I put it inside a small foldable wood stove, that works both as support and windshield. You can’t beat it for lightweight and minimalism

      Thanks for the insight, will definitely consider this going forward and if we decide to give it another go, maybe over the summer. Do really like the weight and size of it though. Saves so much bulk. Thanks for watching - ATB

    Hahaha I recognize that ration pack...British army's finest fayre! Some of the meals are definitely an acquired taste, but generally they're ok.
    As a member of the Armed forces, I've dined on those ration packs plenty. None of us carry ALL of that stuff for 24hrs, we take what we like/want/need, and either toss the rest or swap with a mate for something else. One piece of advice: if you ever get one of the sesame seed bars, keep it handy. Not to eat, but you could throw it at someone in self-defense, or use it to hammer your tent pegs in! 😂

      Hahaha some great advice in there, when you say toss the rest, can it be toss the lot? 🤣 no mate we’ve also had a few in our time, the curry one isn’t terrible and the dumpings are sound. Hahahahaa I’ll remember that when I need a peg hammer 👍 All the best - BR

    Another good wild camp. What a shame about the weather. What ground sheet do you use for your Scarp1? I'm still using the one Tarptent supplied me with.

      @borderraiders  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Gary and thanks for watching, it’s much appreciated. So I’ve been using the Vango Nevis 200 groundsheet I believe. But in the last few days I’ve discovered you can attached it if you feed the bungie loops through the corner clips on the Scarp that attach the inner to the fly. Hoping to get out this weekend and test it out properly for the first time. Keep an eye out on our social because If it works we will feedback on there 👍

    I'm a alcoholic stove fan , I've had the full 'dirty box' swedish mess kit in the past , now have a Trangia , but looking at a lightweight alternatives.

      @borderraiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha we’ve recently been gifted a full Swedish mess kit, it’s a beast of a system, abit heavy I should imagine for our needs. Noticed a few vids knocking around on TH-cam of people using them with oil to make fish and chips 🤣 who knows maybe it will make an appearance

      @@borderraiders Worst mistake I made was selling mine 12 years ago in a post divorce downsize . They've gone up astronomically since.
      But I've a lightweight polymath stove on order now

    • @borderraiders
      @borderraiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah that’s a shame, yeah they have gone up in price of late. Keep an eye on the military surplus sites and shops though, especially if you go in you can often get a bargain 👌

      @@borderraiders Also is that the NatureHike 60L pack that you use ? If so is it any good ?

    • @borderraiders
      @borderraiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StuartThow yeah it is, not sure 100% on the name as I’ve seen it called the rock in a few places. It’s honestly a cracking little bag. Had it for around 2 year now and must have picked it up back then off ali express for around £45. Worth it’s weigh in gold, the stretchy mesh on it is an absolute delight

    • @StuartThow
      @StuartThow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@borderraiders I'm really tempted to order one as my current bag isn't that comfy after a few hours, looks like a great bag but It has mixed reviews on here . Some say it's the worst bag in the world and others say it's great 🤣

    • @borderraiders
      @borderraiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StuartThow I’ve seen a few reviews on TH-cam, I know it’s all subjective and peoples experiences are different, but honestly we go through some kit, if it’s not up to it, it gets launched. We’ve been using it for over 2 years now so it’s testament to how good and versatile it is. The one thing we would say, like any budget kit is how long it will last. If you’d like to see a review of this bag then please do let us know, as we’d consider doing one of people found value in it
